Great tailor! 5/4/2006

I brought in my torn and beloved leather jacket to Jack thinking it possibly ruined beyond repair. His repair of it was amazing. No one will be ever to tell it was torn. I've known Jack for almost 20 years and have used his services many times over the years. I highly recommend him for any alterations; he's friendly and polite, and does exceptional work. His shop is in a good location at Porter Square on Mass. Ave. I also find that his prices are good. more

Excellent Service 4/30/2006

I am student at MIT, and I needed to have a suit tailored for a Formal. A professor recommended Jack, and I could not have been happier with the experience. Brought in the suit on Wednesday, discussed what I had in mind, and picked up the finished job on Saturday. I thought my suit looked good before. Now it impeccably fits the contour of my body, resulting in a much more fitted, European design; precisely what I had requested. Im looking to buy a couple of new suits these coming weeks after graduation. Ill make sure Jack tailors both of them. Pros: Attention to detail, Expedited service, Great value more

Best tailor in Cambridge 4/30/2006

I've been going to Jack for all of my tailoring needs for the last five years. I went at the recommendation of a long-time Cambridge resident, and I've never regretted it once. Jack obviously knows his craft well, and he takes the time to explain everything that he's doing so that you're just as comfortable with his alterations as he is. Jack is great 4/22/2006

I have brought in a number of pants, jackets, and suits to Jack and have been very happy with the work he has done. Jack has always clearly explained the alterations that he proposes and I never have felt pressured into a decision I wasn't comfortable with. Bottom line, Jack is not the cheapest tailor in the greater Boston area but he may very well be the best. Pros: conveinient location, exceptional service, likeable guy more

Outstanding Denim Alterations! 4/7/2006

I bring all my jeans to Jack. He knows the difference between 100% cotton jeans, stretch/cotton blends, jeans that will be washed & dried and jeans that can never shrink! He is an expert at sewing on the original bottom hem and is a master of determining the perfect length for wearing with flats or boots (just bring in your shoes). Jack is the only one I trust with altering my $200+ jeans! more

I brought in an expensive leather jacket with a rip. I thought it was ruined, but Jack made a repair that was amazing. The tear was practically invisible. more

Jack is a pro! 3/12/2006

I've brought broken zippers on delicately beaded tops, lots of pants that needed hemming, and difficult jackets with zippers on the sleeves that needed shortening. Jack is skilled enough to handle all of these so well, it looks like I bought them that way. I don't have to think about things; jack suggests where the pant cuff should be and explains why, but he let's me make the decision (I haven't ever gone wrong with going with Jack's recommendation). He's conveniently just a blcok away from the Porter exchange lot, so I park there, do a bit of other shopping (so that I can park legally), and drop off and pick up my stuff from Jack. He's great! Pros: skilled, good parking, reasonable prices Cons: none! more

the best tailor in cambridge/boston 3/5/2006

I am in my third year at Harvard and am originally from Italy from a family that has a discerning eye for these things - I have tried a few tailors and none quite were expert. With jack, the whole experience was perfect. he is extremely knowledagle about his craft, well skilled, and above all he has absolutely great customer service. he explaisn everything he is doing and will do and why, makes recommendations, but in the end will do whatever the customer asks of him. he has rushed suits for me before for interviews and they have always come out perfectly. he is very friendly and just great at what he does. i know that even a bunch of harvard profs with their pretty deep pockets chose jacks! Pros: excellent tailor, greeat customer svc, quick/fast Cons: only 1 of him! more

I have been going to Jack for over four years and he has never disappointed me. He is attentive to detail and has handled a range of tailoring projects: my wedding outfits to hemming work trousers. He works fast and, most importantly, he is honest about what he thinks is possible to tailor and what he feels isn't worth the money! more

I have used Jack's service several times and have to say that he provides the best tailoring service around. He is great at tailoring clothes, provides fast and quality service and is always interesting if you want a chat while dropping off or picking up your clothes. I have not found a better place in Cambridge or Somerville, and will continue to use him. more

Bring your problem clothing to him! 12/28/2005

I've used the local chain drycleaning store for a little while, having them do simple tailoring jobs like hems, but I was never quite satisfied with the work. I'm practically obsessive-compulsive about the fit of my clothing and my proportions make it necessary to have many things tailored. Jack is a miracle worker! He tailored two coats for me, one a heavy wool coat with thinsulate lining, and the other a down (yes, down!) jacket. Both look amazing, you can't even tell they've been worked on. His work on the down jacket was especially impressive, as this is a difficult thing to do (and he didn't lose any of the feather fill). I now feel more freedom in buying clothes because I know Jack can make them fit me perfectly, even if they don't right off the rack. Pros: high quality of work, fast turnaround, close to the T more

Great tailor 10/31/2005

I bought 2 new shirts for interviews that were too large on me, and Jack transformed them so that they fit perfectly and look great. Jack is the first tailor I've ever used, and he patiently taught me everything I needed to know. He said he comes from a long line of tailors, and it shows in the quality of his work. Very Highly Recommended! 10/19/2005

I went to Jack based on word of mouth when I had a rush tailoring ""emergency."" I needed three pairs of pants tailored to fit for a Thursday afternoon flight -- and I brought them in to Jack on Monday evening. Not ony did he set aside other work for me, but he had my pants ready by 4 pm Tuesday so that I even had time to get them dry cleaned before I left town. In fact, he even called the dry cleaner and set it up for me. As an added bonus, he did a great job on the tailoring work itself. Excellent experience, excellent guy! Shockingly awful 10/10/2005

I went to Jack's because of his convenient location and high ratings. I expected to happily pay a premium for quality work. My experience at Jack's went like this. --""Can I bring in a suit on a Friday to be altered for Monday?"" --""That's not enough time."" --""If I went out of my way to bring it in two days earlier, could it be done?"" --""I cannot guarantee it"" --""So then, is there a chance it can be done?"" At this point Jack tore up my order forms and told me to get out of his store because he would not do the work for me. I don't normally post online but this was so offensive I made an exception.
