""No good deed goes unpunished"" in response to acmtn 1-16-11 4/29/2011

At Hifi Buys we strive to always give each customer our best effort. We regret that this customer believes that we fell short of doing so. We only respond to this complaint because we feel it is unwarranted. Taken out of context any scenario can be shaded to appear one way or the other. All that can be said is that we did our best to meet the needs of this customer.\r The install was initially agreed to be basic in nature and price. To accommodate the customers wishes we agreed to go above and beyond a basic install, for no additional fee, to try and pleae him. After it was complete and operational the customer was unhappy with the placement. Again for no additional charge we reinstalled the equipment to the customers’ specific instructions. After we were told that the work was still unsatisfactory we came to the conclusion that nothing would satisfy this customer. \r Hifi Buys is a local business with only one location. We rely heavily on customer satisfaction to keep our business going. We have been providing Custom Car and Home installation for more than 30 years. We are proud to say that we will be listed in Mobile Electronics Magazine as one of the country’s top 50 installers and retailers. So it goes without saying that we know what we are doing and take pride in our ability to continually meet and exceed our customers’ expectations.\r As Murphy’s Law has tried to teach us, “No good deed goes unpunished”\r more

Know what you are in for... 1/16/2011

This is reference to the Car Audio and over-all managment.\r I brought my brand new 2011 Jag XF SC in to have a Passport 9500ci installed. The installer was unfamliar with my car and wouldn't commit to a location. He was to *call me* after opening things up so that I could review and decide my options. No phone calls and he put the controller where he wanted - which was not where we had discussed as a possible option.\r They agreed to move it to a new location at my insistence. Again without any communication; the installer put it where he wanted to instead of the explicit location that I had discussed with him earlier. I then found that he damaged the burled wood in my console as well as the console itself. The dash next to the glove box was also damaged. They left me to find that out on my own instead of being honest about it. I pointed this out to the manager before I left for home and he was going to speak to the owner. The next day a phone call: turns out they were not going to take responsibility for the damage - saying it was *my fault* that the installer damaged my car because he had to fix his mistake!! \r How messed up is that? Luckily, Gieco is covering the damage - to the tune of almost $1500 and will be going after HiFi Buys (yay for subrogation). They pretend to be high-end, but just because you sell nicer merchandise doesnt make you high-end. Bottom-line: if you walk through their doors, plan on dealing with ownership only interested making a buck and that will happily screw you over to do it. Do yourself a favor: STAY AWAY. more

Great Service- Great Products, AND GREAT DEALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 1/29/2009

I stopped by Hi-Fi Buys today during my lunch break, I was going to take a look at what they had, and then go buy from a big box store so I could actually afford it. When I walked in, I met Lee, he was not pushy, and told me to let him know if I needed any help- I figured that their car audio stuff would be out of line for me but I needed something small, that they ended up having in stock and ready to take with me. About 30 minutes later, I left with A JL Audio Sub, JL Audio amp, and a wiring kit for the system- when I got home, I installed the amp, and had a problem, Lee took the time to walk me throuh two parts of the install. I was amazed at their customer service, what they have, AND THE DEALS THEY WILL GIVE YOU!!! These guys have my business for any future home or car audio purchase!!!!! Pros: Great Service, No Pushy Electronics sales approach Cons: n/a more

Excellent - All Around 4/21/2008

These folks do Hi-Fi sales right. They listen to you and what you want and then make suggestions and give demos of the equipment. They are not pushy. They have great equipment over a broad price range and they want you to be happy - so you will come back. Take a few of your favorite cd's with you and drop in to preview some equipement. You can preview a selection of speakers, amps, pre-maps, cd-players and dvd players. You won't be presssured to buy but they will probably make you offers that are hard to refuse. Plus when you hear how good your favorite cd sounds on great equipment you'll realize what a great investment it is and how much you've been missing. I purchased a set of Revel M-22 speakers last year that were on sale - half price baby. If I wanted to I could sell them now on Augiogon for a profit. But I think I would sell everytyhing else I own before I sold these wonderful speakers. Everytime I listen to them I'm thrilled that I bought them. How many things can you say that about? I also bought a Rotel pre-amp at the same time. This year I'm going back for a CD player and a power amp. They understand that most people will build up their system over time. The salesman who helped me, Paul, is still there and very knowledgeable and helpful. \r \r Last year I upgraded my system from garden variety Onkyo components and PSB speakers. As soon as I did I realized that I should have taken the plunge long ago. The quality of the sound is easily 10 times better than it was. \r \r So instead of spending $1000 at a big box store why not get more b@ng for your buck and be treated like a person at the same time? Every time you listen to your system after that you will thank yourself.\r \r P.S. Once you're on their customer list you'll get advance notice of upcoming sales too. Pros: Great selection, knowledgable staff, prices - deal cutting Cons: Not free, closed on Sundays, limited evening hours, more

Awesome car audio department! 7/30/2007

I've brought several of my cars in to have audio/video systems put in, and they have always done the job quickly and it always looks amazing! Most of my installation work has been done by their installer, Glenn...I can't remember his last name. Anyway, go ask for Glenn to do your install and you'll definitely be blown away with the work! I was! Also, the store is very clean and organized, and the sales staff is very helpful and not pushy. I used to go to Best Buys and those places to get work done, but the salespeople don't know what the heck they're talking about usually, nor do they even care enough to find out the information on products for you. Pros: Excellent installer, knowledgable sales people, clean store Cons: You'll never look at a Best Buys the same way again!! more

Best High End Audio Video 7/24/2006

I've bought several high end systems from Sean at Hi-Fi Buys. What a great guy! His knowledge is just incredible. He really helped me to pick out the right stuff and get it all set up right. I bought $50,000 worth of Revel speakers, Lexicon amp and processor, etc. If you are shopping for really good sound and video, not just junk from Best Buy or whatever, this is the place to go. When I travel, I go into high end stores all over the country, and Hi-Fi Buys is definitely one of the very best I have been to. And the personal service I've gotten from Sean is without equal, though I am sure that other associates are excellent as well. Pros: Great service from knowledgable staff, extraordinary selection of items. more

Absolutely the WORST place ever!!! 12/16/2004

I was getting a simple installation done there, and it was going to cost over $120, including a $100 deposit. Their schedule is terrible! They said my simple install would take 4 HOURS! I THOUGHT THAT WAS A JOKE! haha 4 HOURS! After this, they call me and say that they cannot put my item in because they dont know how. How can a car audio place not figure out how to install a radio?I went to a place nearby, and they did it in 45 MINUTES! NOT 4 HOURS! IT ALSO COST ME $40, NOT $120! Bottomline, HIFI buys has unfriendly sales people, no knowledge of what they're doing, bad scheduling/hours, take forever to get ANYTHING done, and worst of all THE PRICES ARE THROUGH THE ROOF! So PLEASE, do not waste your time, and especially MONEY. Go somewhere else for a better, more convienent install. more

Hi Fi Buys Rules 1/21/2004

This is a great audio/video store. The quality of the brands and the knowledge of the salemen are great. They installed a large HDTV and satellite system for me. Installation was great! They carry high-end, but real world equipment--not the extremely over-priced esoteric stuff pedaled by others. Their prices are competitive with the internet or local discounters, with the added advantage of their knowlege and service. Only the ""wife-acceptance factor"" is keeping me from spending more with them than I already do. My wife actually loves the home theater we set up... Now I've just go to get her sold on my ideas for the living room..... Pros: competitive prices, best brands, great service Cons: addictive, marital distress more
