Best

I just returned home from my first cut and style with Cheri and all I can say is WOW! She is very experienced, asked key questions to make sure she understood what I was look...

Worst

Maybe she works wonders for other people's curly hair but not for mine. I am used to getting a Deva cut and they cut the hair while dry so that each curl formation is cut properl...

Won't go back either 11/8/2008

I agree with all the users who say they will not go back because of Cheri. I was a client of hers for several years and in the past I was pretty happy with the outcome. (I have curly hair too) The last two times I went, she did not do a good job. The first time, it was managable, but the last time, my hair was uneven and she did exactly what I asked her to not do, she barely looked at me or my hair and proceeded to tell me the whole time all about these negative comments about her on this site and how they're untrue. Her husband, who works there too was cursing to a client in his chair about his kids who he apparently don't get along with. It was really pathetic. What was once a nice place to go is now a poorly run disaster. They also can't keep staff members. Every time I go there are different employees now, which is strange because for a long time she had the same group of women who were all so nice. To say, she's overwhelmed because she owns a business might be true, but she needs to get her act together fast or else all the other locals salons will get her business as they will now get mine. Pros: leaving Cons: owner more

Will NOT be BACK 11/6/2008

Coffeegal must be a friend of the owners to say such nice things but I have to say that there is nothing amazing about Cheri. I stopped going to Cheri when she gave me the worst haircut of my life. I 100% agree with cust1 about the owners attitude. She is condescending with her staff. I have talked to other ladies that WERE Cheri's clients and they all refuse to step foot in that place because of the way she treated them. I think this buisness is going down hill after spending lots of money on her raffle to go to the educational trip I saw no difference in her all she did was ask me a bunch of stupid questions about my hair, and still gave me the worst haircut of my life. Pros: When it was time to leave. Cons: Cheri the Owner more

GO HAIR, BODY & SOLE 10/30/2008

It makes me very sad to read some of the comments posted here. I go to Hair, Body & Sole and have never been disappointed. Cheri has always done a great job at finding out what I was looking for with my hair and delivered every time. I also love the people on her staff. I would never downplay anyone's feelings or experiences but I will ask you to please keep in mind that running a small business isn't always easy. I'm not making excuses but I am asking for people to have a little compassion. Those who know Cheri know that she is an amazing person. Being a fairly new business has its share of growing pains but I definitely believe that Hair, Body & Sole will be the best salon in all of Apex. Cheri is an expert cutter. I don't allow anyone to touch my hair but her. SHE IS THE CURLY HAIR EXPERT!!!!!!!!!! I can also say that she is dedicated and solution based. GO HAIR BODY & SOLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pros: great stylists Cons: none for me more

My apologies 10/14/2008

It's difficult to read negative things about yourself or your business online but it's been helpful for me to see myself through the client's eyes. I deeply apologize to anyone who has not had a good experience at our place. I have been confronted with how going from a service provider to an owner has changed me. It hasn't been pretty. I have met with my staff and we have found ways to take some of the pressure off me so I don't have to feel so alone. I thank them for their generosity and devotion to our business. The first two years have been hard but I can't wait to see what the next two years hold for us! Cheri' Pros: good location more

Too expensive with bad service 9/29/2008

I like to be a client at a salon before I put in an application to work there. I met their awesome nail tech at a class recently, and decided to go have a look. Unfortunately the person who answered their phone sounded heavily medicated and could barely make an appointment. Giving the benefit of the doubt, I went and had my hair done by a gentleman who obviously has not had much training in razor cut...it hurt like crazy as he ripped my hair...and I could barely stand to sit there. My hair is a disaster and not fixable unless I want to lose another inch of it! I do not know how someone as nice as their nail girl works there, but I assure you that as a fellow nail tech, I will not be making a move there! Pros: great nail departmnet Cons: everyone else that works there more

A little surprised... 9/26/2008

I'm happy that coffeegal has a very positive experience, but was a little curious about her plea for compassion for the owner's behavior. A number of people in town are or were involved in small businesses and understand all the stress involved. But for months I've heard about a gradual change in the tone of this salon, and not for the better. Again, to be fair the decline was mostly around trying to get appointments and the hair cutting staff. Since it opened, many people I know were going to this business and paying a good amount of money. There's recently been enough bad buzz in the air that I feel someone must have earned it. When I think of a "spa" environment, I look for a little calmness in the atmosphere, not uncomfortable back chat between the people in the hair salon area. If they expect me to open my wallet every couple of months, I really think that that part of their business must also become a more pleasant experience. I include both what I receive during my appointment for hair cuts and color as well as the conversations these professionals have during my appointment. I hope, if they're back on the road to improving these things that they find success. Pros: local availability to several services Cons: still in the learning stage? more

Happy with cut and color...not so much with attitude 8/31/2008

I am very happy with my new cut and color, but, like the last reviewer, I would also say that the owner needs a lesson in customer service. She was somewhat condescending with her staff and with me. Funny, because the rest of her staff was at least friendly. She was the only one who made me feel like I should be honored to be in her chair. In my mind, they should make me feel that they are honored to have me in their salon. I do have to recommend the place, though, because their products and services are excellent, and worth the minor disappointment. I don't think it's a big deal to be having a raffle to raise funds for a training seminar for her staff that costs several thousand dollars per person. Don't participate if you find it inappropriate. Pros: Love my hair Cons: Owner lacking in customer service more

Owner Needs a lesson on etiquette 8/28/2008

I left my appointment last week at Hair, Body and Sole (3rd time) in utter amazement...It seems the owner needs quite a few classes on customer relations...First, I would like to say, my experience with the actual coloring and cutting, was probably 2 stars..nothing out of the ordinary...not my favorite cut/color, but I continued to go because it was convenient....I find the owner quite rude to her employees, reprimending them in front of her customers, as well as advertising NO children under age 6 while parent receives their haircut...I get that part, but I over heard her conversation about what she treally hinks of small children...Well, what prompted me to write this review was how I was treated, as well as the owner's inability recognize what is proper etiquette while owning a business...She actually had advertised (homemade signs, I might add) that she is having a raffle, yes raffle (local merchants offered their services), so she could send her entire staff to an educational seminar! What??? Are you asking your customers, who pay a handsome fee and tip while, there, to help YOU send your staff on a trip that should be paid by the owner? I was in astonishment! I could not believe the audacity...How completely tacky and I thought to myself, what her employees must be thinking...felt bad for them....I have never heard of such a thinkg..For me, it showed her true colors and for that, I will not be back.... Salon itself is an old home in Apex...a great idea, but it still NEEDS a lot of work...very amateur....In this area with so many new salons/spa, I think she needs to step it up, treat her employees better, and realize her customers have ears and are always listening....And lastly, Cheri, please do not ask your customers to foot your bill. Pros: convenient parking Cons: Owner more

Cheri saved my hair! 3/5/2008

The funny thing is, I work as a receptionist at a salon and I get free services. One of the stylists did my hair and the highlights did not stick well to my hair so it turned out looking spotty. After one failed attempt to fix it, I decided to go back to my natural color. The only problem was, it was Monday and most salons are closed. I looked for a local Goldwell salon and I found Hair, Body and Sole. I called and much to my surprise, someone answered and said they could do my hair that afternoon. When I arrived for my appointment, I found out that I had spoken with the owner, Cheri, and she was the one who was doing my hair. I also found out that her shop wasn't really open but she was willing to do my hair anyway. I thought that was so nice of her. The color turned out perfect and she styled it very nicely. I was so relieved to get rid of the spottiness. I am certainly not advertising that she takes appointments on Monday, she just happened to do this for me that one time. I also met the esthetician and she was so warm and informative on skin care. Great people work here! Pros: Friendly and welcoming atmosphere and staff. more

Absolutely wonderful 4/27/2007

If you desire excellent service, relaxation, and comfort, this is the place to go! I feel special each time I visit. The owner gives her undivided attention to each client, and gives the hairstyle that feels right to you. She shows each client how to style their hair, and takes time to explain techniques and how to use hair products--so, it is much more than getting an average haircut! There are an array of other services to enjoy that give you a break from your daily routine. It's much more than a hair salon; it's a nourishing experience. I personally wouldn't go anywhere else for the quality and the price. more

Friendly staff in a quaint historic house 4/7/2007

I went here with my girlfriend last weekend for a pedicure. We were treated very well and noticed that everyone else was too. We were offered coffee or tea when we arrived and our coats were hung up for us but it was definately not pretentious, more like southern hospitality. We were given a tour of the whole place while we waited (which wasn't long) and greeted by all the staff who ran across us. Our pedicures were divine, they have great massaging chairs. Before we left, the owner (who does hair) made a point to speak to us and was very personable. They seem like a close knit group who work together well. I am going back for a facial next week. Their prices are very good. Not a clinical feeling spa but they have all the top of the line services. Very positive! Pros: good service, friendly staff Cons: park across the street more
