Came in w/ a rainbow of colors that Willy Wonka would've rejected. 1 question & she knew (& I had to admit) that cutting my hair off was a request of desperation. Great color correction & I resumed the love affair w/ my hair. 2nd appt w/ Alethea. Have always only stayed w/ 1 professional, but with only 1 visit under the belt decided to go for it. I wanted to try out a keratin treatment due to my long hair getting easily knotted and frizzy from the hot humid weather. I chose this salon and am really glad i did. My hair is smooth and straight and the knots/tangles are gone. No more frizzyness either. I went to bed and didn't wake up with a tangled mess on my head. I'm very happy I got the treatment and got lucky by choosing this salon. The stylist was Alethea. They also gave me a sweet deal on the keratin shampoo/conditioner. more

Best Hair Salon for Hair Color in Fort Lauderdale\r You know what they say the definition of insanity is? Doing the same thing again and expecting a different result. I do consider myself sane, but when I look back on my actions concerning my hair, I was insane. For the last 18 months there has been a change in my stylist I have had for over 10 years. For whatever reason, she was either forgetful of my appointments or late. She always double-booked and I feel like I was no longer a priority - she took me (and my $50 tips) for granted. My highlights were sloppy and so was my cut, and I just had enough of this. I asked a friend where she went and was told Guys & Dolls. I then did my research and was impressed with the reviews. I am new to Fort Lauderdale from Cincinnati and had no one to ask about where to go for my hair color. I did not know any neighbors or anyone at work to ask, so with this being 2012, I went online for information. After a couple of minutes searching, I had narrowed my choices to 2 salons, Guys & Dolls and AFX. For whatever reason, I called AFX first and tried to explain my situation. The guy was very short with me and didnt seem to care - I just figured he did not want to make small talk, so I got to the point and tried to make an appointment. This was on a Tuesday and I was told that the only thing all week was Thursday at 3:45 Although it was not an ideal time for me, I was going to make it work because I needed color desparately. I then asked about pricing and the guy told me flat out ""Dont worry about prices honey, we'll work that out once you're here in the chair"". That remark was the straw that broke the camels back and I politely ended the conversation. The last thing I wanted was a $300 bill thrown at me after the fact, so I called Guys & Dolls. A guy answered the phone (he was the business owner I found out later) and he couldn't have been nicer. When I told him I would be new to the salon, he just stopped and said ""Welcome"" in the most inviting and sincere tone of voice. He asked how I found them and he asked me several other questions so he would be sure to give me the proepr amopunt of time and put me with a stylist he felt would be good for me. I told him the length of my hair, my color, what I wanted to do and he never cut me off or rushed me. I felt he genuinely cared about me and my hair and that he wanted to make sure he got it right. He asked if I had any other questions, so I figured let me ask the dreaded questions: price. He could not have been nicer - he told me that a colr touch-up was $50 and that highlights started at $65, with a full head of highlights at $125 for normal length hair. He even went on to tell me about the color line they use. And then he asked me where I would be coming from - he wanted to make sure I would not get lost finding them. Well, that was the icing on the cake and I was thrilled that they could take me the same day. It goes without saying that my visit lived up to my expectations. I was greeted by name when I arrived, offered a beverage, and was told my stylist would be right with me. As I was waiting, I couldnt help but notice the decor of the place - I wasnt sure if I was in my living room, an antique store, or a salon - whatever motif it was, it worked. I ended up getting a full head of highlights, color, and a cut. As I left, I lookd like the person I had wanted to look like my entire life - I was thrilled that Jonathan took some beofre & after photos of me - you would not belive it was the same person except for the same shirt in both shots. I am so hooked on this place and they have me for life... I almost hope I dont have to move again becasue I dont want to find another salon. Would recommend Guys & Dolls 100%. more

a friend of mine recommended francisco and i went after going to my previous hair stylist in another state for over 20 years......francisco was really very professional and spent a great deal of time with me....after i left the salon and went home and washed my hair several days later, i realized it was not cut short enough--i hesitated calling back but i did and i was really very very pleased with the response....i was told to come back in and he would cut it shorter until i felt it was just right....he spent an additional 45 minutes cutting my hair....it looks wonderful...it is hard to describe to a hair stylist how to cut your hair for the first time and he really was great in terms of his professionalism and getting it right by me....i high recommend him and his salon..... more

I'm a guy with very simple hair cutting needs, but I also hate SuperCuts and all those other places, so I opted to go with Francisco based on a recommendation a couple of years ago. I've been going to him ever since, and won't go anywhere else. With most places, if you have a receding hairline or are going bald at ALL, the barber or stylist tries to cover it up or mask it for you, and 99% of the time in not a good way. I don't really care that I've got a bit of hair loss going on, as long as it looks good. Francisco understood exactly what I meant when I said this, and makes my head look as best as it can. The atmosphere of the shop is wicked laid back, and the music is always pretty good. I'm simple and easy and am really nervous at stylists and barbers and places like this, but this place puts me at ease more so than others. My girlfriend, on the other hand, has a head of hair like Robert Plant?. curly, long, golden blond, and gorgeous. She has tried Francisco, Michel, Dawn, and Tory and she tells me that she does not have a favorite. When she calls for an appointment, all she cares about is making the time work BECAUSE it doesn?t matter who does her hair. What does that tell you about the staff at Guys & Dolls? It tells me that the entire staff rocks. My hat?s off to Francisco & Jonathan for getting such a talented crew together and keeping them. In all my years with Francisco, I have never seen one of the stylists leave ? what does that tell you about Guys & Dolls? I lead a very busy life with little down time and for me to take what little spare time I have and use it to write about the service I received at a hair salon, then you had better believe is was either very good or horrible. Well, my time at Guys & Dolls was one of the greatest hair experiences I ever had. Like most other women who get their hair done professionally, it becomes part of your life - I mean every five weeks adds up to over 10 times a year - and how many friends or family do you really see that often? Especially when I am always making the trip, I mean its not like the stylist will come to me half the time. I think you get the point: your stylist becomes a very close & presonal person in your life, and I am not going to invest all that time and energy and money for a mediocre encounter.\r I admired this gals hair at my gym for over a year before asking her where she went - you guessed it, Guys & Dolls. Dawn & Francisco & Michel aren?t just amazing professional hair stylists and colorists, They have also proven to be a good friends to all those who are lucky enough to experience Guys & Dolls. I found Guys & Dolls through CitySearch a couple of years ago, and over the years I have been lucky enough to try ALL of their stylists and even now that I?ve moved to Tampa, I won?t ever let anyone else touch my hair ? they ARE that brilliant, especially for difficult blondes like me! more

My entire life I like an edgy look. The gal who I was going to was not giving my hair the excitement that I wanted. Thinking of someone who has exciting hair brought me to my doctor's office manager and she recommended Guys & Dolls to me. Dawn was booked the day I chose and the owner encouraged me to try another stylist, promising that I will love it. I told Francisco that I wanted an edgy cut and a bright, fun color and shortly thereafter I had a beautiful head of coppery hair with slight accents of blond and red, and an equally brilliant cut to compliment the look. Ecstasy. Exciting. Envigorating. I felt like a canvas that Picasso & Rembrandt had collaborated on. I could not be happier. If you like being a trend-setter instead of a follower... if you want to be noticed (in a good way), and you want your hair to make a statement about your personality, come to this salon. I found this salon while I was searching for Schwarzkopf hair products. I was not even calling for an appointment - I only wanted shampoo, however, I enjoyed speaking with the owner (JT) so much, that when he inadvertently asked me if I was thrilled with my hair color and hair stylist - who I have been with for over 6 years - it made me think...I could NOT honestly answer 'yes'. The last few times I was at my old salon, things were different and my old stylist's work was not up to par. So I figured if Guys & Dolls carry Schwarzkopf products and had such a pleasant, direct, self-assured owner personally answering the phone, I would give them a chance. I checked out the web site and it was great - I got a good feel for who the staff are and what the place was like and decided it was a salon I would enjoy trying, so I booked my appointment (I did have to wait 3 weeks to get a Saturday appointment with Francisco). THE REASON FOR THIS REVIEW: As soon as I walked in the door, I was overwhelmed with the decor of the place - very eclectic and reminded me of home. They were playing SiriusXM Alt Nation (my fav) and I was greeted by JT. The assistant immediately welcomed me and offered me a beverage and I heard Francisco yell ""Jessie, get her ready for color"". I was given a clean gown to change into and led into the bathroom/changing room - very nice and CLEAN. I did make myself a cup of Barnies coffee and grab a magazine and I was enjoying watching the stylists work. It is so rare these days to see a group work together and get along so well - everyone was friendly and the place just had such a positive vibe going on.. I enjoyed being there and I felt like I was part of something. Needless to say that when all was said & done and the foils were removed and I was rinsed out, my hair was AWESOME - it came out better than I could have hoped for and I felt great. If I had felt this good after walking out of my old salon I would still be a client there - but this only re-affirms my decision to try Guys & Dolls. Had it not been for how direct, courteous, and knowledgeable JT was on my initial phone call this would have never happened - it just goes to show that you never know how things will work out. I recommend Guys & Dolls to all... JT & Francisco run a great shop and it shows in how busy the place is. Just a great place for hair color, highlights, and good coffee and music. And, I received no less than 4 compliments that afternoon while I was out doing errands :-). more

I've known Sherry Benson for 30+ years and have had her style my hair for that length of time. She is an absolute professional and does a wonderful job. I am new to Fort Lauderdale and the first thing on my 'To Do' list was to find a hair stylist. Although there was definitley a sense of urgency, I did not want to rush into anything and have regrets. So I did my due diligence and after an extensive online search I decided that Guys & Dolls would be the choice. They have a great web site and I really enjoyed those Before/After pics. The owner (Jonathan) answered and he patiently listened as I explained my situation. He seemed easy going and confident, and it was the way he told me that ""he is the luckiest owner around because he has 4 great colorists and he doesn't have to wrry whose chair I sit in"". Boy was he right. I was lucky enough to sit with Tory and she took my jet-black hair to a lovely brown with highlights and she explained the process and was honest about what could be done on the first visit. During my 150 minutes there, I saw the work of the rest of the staff and Jonathan was right... they are all great. The place was busy and lively and it ran smooth. I had a great experience and I let them add my pic to the album. Cannot wait to return. more

My hair was a disaster after getting it cut at another joint. I should have done my homework. The place looks like an antique shop and you would never expect to receive a phenomenal haircut. In fact I was worried because it looks opposite of the high end salon and it has reasonable prices. Michelle gave me a consultation and then cut and styled my hair. I am forever amazed at how relaxed I felt and how the conversation was easy. I did not feel like my stylist was rushing through me... in fact he took the time to get to know me. My haircut is amazing. I never thought he could fix it as well as he did. My entire family will now be heading there. No other salon will ever get their hands on my hair again. Upon check out the owner was nice and welcoming and it seems like he knew all of the people in my network. I am now a loyal client... THANK YOU GUYS AND DOLLS!!!!! more

I have lived in Fort Lauderdale for many years and up until this point there are 2 things that I had never done. First, I had never thought of my hair other than just being part of my face, like my nose.. it's there but it's not a big deal and surely nothing I can do anything about. I never went to a salon and I had maintained and cut it myself. I am 35 and have had the same basic hairstyle since I was a teenager. About a year ago I decided that I would make a donation to 'Locks of Love' and when I had the requisite 10-inches to spare I was ready to find a salon to go to. So I googled, I binged, I yelped, I yahoo'ed, and I searched citysearch. What I noticed was that there was one salon that consistently got top rank in the categories I searched and that salon was Guys & Dolls. So I went to the hairkuts dot com website and I actually found it to be quite interesting, informative, and FUN. The videos were great, the prices seemd fair, the staff looked normal and then I stumbled upon the Before & After pics. It was amazing to see these clients - these were REAL people, not some fancied-up models. I could not believe how good they looked in the After shots. Then, it was what happened next that pushed me to make an appointment... I actually saw someone I knew in a Before/After pic, and she looked damn good in the After shot. I called her up and she could not say enough great things about the salon & Francisco, so I booked my appointment. This leads me to the second thing that I had never done before in my life - I had never felt strongly enough to leave a review online for anything, until now. I called to schedule an appointment and I had to wait 2 weeks to get the time I wanted on a Saturday. When the day arrived, I got there 20 minutes early so I could take it all in... I actually felt like I had been there before from all the time I spent on there website. I was immediatley greeted and offered a beverage and then I just walked around taking in the visual overload. I mean between the furniture, pictures, artwork, jewelry - it was like being in a gallery. And the classic new-wave 80's music was great. I couldnt help but notice how busy the place was - it was VERY busy and the staff was working in sync like a fine Swiss watch - the flow of the clients was smooth. The people walking out looked gorgeous and I was very excited to finally be called and sat down in Francisco's chair. He greeted me with ""So what we gonna do with this hair of yours?"" He was even nicer in person than I imagined he would be from the videos. 35 minutes later I could not belive what Isaw in the mirror - it was like looking at a stranger (a beautiful stranger) and I was almost in tears of happiness. People who I had known for years and who never ever remarked about my appearance were raving about how great I looked with this new hairstyle AND IT FELT GREAT TO RECEIVE A COMPLIMENT. In fact, I scheduled an appointement for some color & highlights and I keep asking myself how I could have gone 35 years without ever makng any effort to have nice hair.. I feel like a new person and my confidence & self-esteem have never been so healthy. For those of you who are skeptical of what you read, take it from me - this place may not be fancy, but it is clean, fun, and the staff is top notch. My only regret other than that it took me so long to finally find Guys & Dolls, is that I would not let them take a before & after picture of me... it would have been dramatic, but now I have a new home and they have a client for life. more

Just wanted to say that Guys and Dolls is an awsome salon! I was very unhappy with my hair as it was black from another local salon. I did not want black hair but they gave it to me anyway. I decided to do a search for color specialists to be able to change the color of my hair and found Guys and Dolls. Having numerous five star reviews on corrective color, I decided to give them a try. I spoke to Jonathan to get an appointment and he was so friendly and made me feel welcome. I had a consult with Tory who made me feel so comfortable with what she was going to do to get rid of this black hair! I trusted her and felt at ease because of her expertise, confidence and kindness. She did an amazing job with my hair. It looks 100% better!!! Believe me I was afraid to go anywhere after what I have been through with my hair, but I am writing to tell people that you can count on this place to do a beautiful job on your hair no matter what shape it is in!!!! Everyone in the place was so kind and friendly to me! Its a very comfortable atmosphere. I also met Francisco who was very informative on color and advice. For anyone who is skeptical like I was, this is the place for you. You will not regret it. more

Once, maybe twice in your lifetime you may be fortunate and stumble upon an establishment that is so right in every way, that a smile, a hug, a thank you, a complement, a tip, just simply is not enough. I was there yesterday at Guys & Dolls Hairkuts. Prior to yesterday for me a visit to the salon was pretty much comparable to a visit to the dentist, a necessity, nothing more, and nothing less. I saw them on the side of the road and thought their salon looked nice. I went on to their website and really liked what I saw. I contacted them on their website and they contacted me back right away. I had not had my hair done in 4 years and it was seriously damaged. I was really scared and I since I moved here I have not known where to go. They allowed me to come in the very next day. I met with the most amazing woman, Tori, she addressed my concerns and gave me her professional advice. It worked! My hair was so blonde that it normally would not have taken color at all but she made it happen and it didn't break my wallet. I am now a red head with beautiful blonde hi-lights and I never thought I would be able to do it with what I walked in with. They are the kindest people I have ever met at a salon. I was not judged and instead was cared for a loved from the very start. You are immediately greeted up front by absolute kindness and they serve coffee!
