Perfect hair color the first time!! 8/20/2011

I went to guys and dolls based on all the reviews online and made an appt with Tory. My hair had been frazzled and fried and looked yellow from my last stylist and Tory knew just what to do! : ) I know have beautifully toned down blonde and after seeing me last night, my bf said it's the best I've ever looked... Thank you Tory! You're the best! Everyone in the salon is very nice and knowledgable and not the least bit snotty like you might find in some other area salons. I've already made my next appt! more

GREAT! 7/21/2011

Usually I wonder about business who have 100% good reviews (thinking the employees wrote them!) but in this case all the reviews are 100% deserved.\r \r Even though they have been in the same location for 25 years, the shop is well kept, clean and the stations are up to date. The owner has his desk in the middle of the salon and makes you feel like you are their most important client.\r \r Walking in you are offered coffee or water right away and quickly given consultation by your stylist. I was lucky enough to book Michel and could not have been happier. All of the stylists treat you like you are thier client and before I knew it everyone was chatting with each other (clients & stylists).\r \r I have been searching for a "hair" home for the last couple of years and have finally found it. I definately can't say enough good things about my experience. Great color, cut and style!\r \r My only regret is I forgot to book my follow up appointment! more

Best All Around 7/18/2011

Francisco and his staff were very professional and great at what they do. I went for a cut/blow dry and Francisco did a FANTASTIC job. I knew from reading all of the other reviews that I was in good hands, surrounded by people who were skilled at what they do, but even so, they exceeded my expectations. Unpretentious, funky fresh atmosphere, reasonable prices, and kind staff. What more can you ask for in a hair salon? Make the appointment. You won't be disappointed. more

WORTH THE WAIT 7/16/2011

Being new to the area I needed to find a stylist right away because I get my hair cut every 2 - 3 weeks. I went on google, citysearch, and yahoo and Guys & Dolls kept appearing at the top of the search results so I decided to call them. I was particulalry interested in Francisco to cut my hair and it was a Tuesday that I called. I was in disbelief when I was told that he did not have anything for the rest of the week and I couldnt wait so I booked with Michel. When I arrived the next day, a Wednesday, not only did I get a great cut from Michel, but I got the receptionist to show me Francisco's schedule and lo & behold, it was booked solid - the poor guy didnt even have time to go pee. I never saw a salon so busy for a Wednesday. I decided to pre-book an appointment with Francisco for 3 weeks down the road. My life went on, I got a reminder email the day befoe the appointment (nice touch) and finally it was my turn to sit in his chair - the way he said ""So tell me, what are we going to do with this hair of yours?"" was great. He actually listened to what I said and then he epxlained how my hair grows and what would be possible for me, so I let him go for it. For $25 I got the best cut I ever had in my llife. The entire staff was great - the place was busy, the music and the coffee were great and it was really a great experience. I was able to reserve my slot every 3 weeks for the rest of the year and all I can say is IT WAS WORTH THE WAIT. more

MIRACLE WORKERS! Highly Recommend 6/21/2011

After receiving a horrible haircut last Sunday from another hairstylist, I was in desperate need of a good, reputable hair stylist. I came across the reviews for Guy & Dolls on yelp and google and felt confident to make an appointment with Francisco, the owner of the salon. After booking my appointment online (easy to use & got a follow up email after my appointment was confirmed), I walked into the salon & knew that I made the right choice. The salon is in an nondescript strip mall that I pass by every morning on my way to work. Inside, is a really cool, funky shop, playing SiruisXM First Wave on the radio (my favorite radio station). Everyone is extremely friendly and I could see they truly empathized with my haircut dilemma. Francisco pulled out his scissors and went to work like he was sculpting a piece of art. In less than an hour, my way-too-short bob became a modern cut without sacrificing what little I had with length. I am EXTREMELY PLEASED with the way my hair turned out & highly recommend this salon. I will definitely become a loyal customer! Thanks Guys & Dolls! more

I GET THEM CAUSE THEY GET ""IT"" 6/17/2011

There are plenty of reviews here, and do a Google search for this salon, and you'll see the hundreds of other excellent reviews they get. My story - I'm an ex-hair stylist now web designer who has been cutting my own hair since I was 18. Every once in a while I go to a salon when the do gets out of hand. I never am quite satisfied though...the stylists never seem to understand me, and I end up with something I don't like. For the past few years I've been growing my usually short hair out. It was looking nice for a while, then the summer came, and it turned into a frizzy mess. I'm an active chick - and all the hair was in the way, and it just wasn't my style. So I decided to visit a salon to tame the crazy mane. I booked with Francisco through their online scheduler. That was cool, because I received a confirmation email a little later, and then a day after a phone call with further confirmation. So use it in confidence. I GET this place. Know what I mean? It looks like the funky thrift stores from back home I used to shop. There's old movie posters, interesting furniture, vintage bric-a-brac and jewelry - some of it for sale. And they're playing Duran Duran and the Police. So my happy punk rock ass from the 80's was digging the New Wave. I was sipping Barney's Coffee while looking at hair style books and making plans to buy funky new earrings and scarves to go with the new cut while a customer was measuring a small coffee table he wanted to buy. The wait was 15 minutes, tops. Francisco consulted with me, I showed him a few style pics, and we looked at a few more, and made plans to go very short and funky. I explained that I didn't want conservative. This has been my complaint with most stylists...they stay safe, and I end up re-cutting my hair myself. Not only do I get this place, it GETS me. Francisco knew exactly what to do. He razor cut my short pixie to perfection. Now I look like ME, and not some crazy female hippie leprechaun this side of Carrot Top. All the staff was courteous, professional, and unpretentious. Francisco was attentive, kind and sculpted my hair like an artist. And the prices....seriously? An excellent value. I couldn't be happier. I'm thinking of going back for a color - another thing I usually do myself. Husband wants me to go blond!!! more

A Special Bond of Trust 6/2/2011

What can I say? Only that Dawn is AWESOME ! I have followed her from other salons & would follow her ANYWHERE!!! I had spent years not being happy with the way my hair was highlighted & cut. Now, I go to Dawn. Not only do I not have to stress about how my hair will look, I don't even make any big decision about what I want done, I just let her be creative. (by the way , I work in the medical field, so I have to look professional, so not wild creative) Dawn is a true professional and take extreme pride in what she does and how your hair looks when she is done. I jokingly refer to it as her being in her ""zone"". I just got my hair low lighted, colored and cut last week and have had well over 5 compliments a day on my hair. And , the price,, I felt guilty leaving looking so good, for so little. Did I say Dawn is AWESOME?! more

Dont Judge A Book By Its Cover 6/2/2011

I am new to Fort Lauderdale and I was dreading going through the ordeal of finding a new colorist... coming from San Francisco I was accustomed to high-end salons (and those high-end prices) because they gave me that buttery blond highlighted hair that I so desire. My first experience here in town was a disaster - I went online and thought I found a great salon because of famous clients and a slick website - wrong. Let's just say that it was a disaster and my faith in these online reviews was shattered. 3 months later it was time to try again. Fearing another fiasco I decided to ask for help (something I usually dont do). I sought the ladies who had really great hair - someone from my gym, several from Publix, an attorney, and even a bank teller and a female car saleperson... the verdict: it was like reading a google search, BUT there was one salon that was mentioned way more often than the rest: Guys & Dolls. I again went online and read reviews and, now with recs from real people too, I booked an appointment. I wanted to come in that Saturday (it was Tuesday) and there was a two week wait for a Saturday appointment - my instinct was to find another salon, but after some thought I realized that it was actually a GOOD thing that they were so booked up, so I made my appointment. THE REASON FOR THIS REVIEW:: I arrived, and while I was hoping for a ritzy glitzy locale, the salon was in an unassuming plaza. But, when I walked in I immediately knew it would be great... the place was full of activity and a very positive energy. I was immediately offered a beverage and I truly felt at ease. I waited about 15 minutes and during that time I saw 3 people leave, ALL with gorgeous hair. The place is not only physically busy, it is loaded with ""stuff""... depression glass, jewelry, plants, lamps, and art - a whole 180 from the minimalistic white marble I was used to. Suffice it to say that if I did not get the exact 'look' I wanted I would not be writing a 5-star review. Francisco was great - and he did it all - cut, highlights, color - I did not have to be shuffled off to 3 different people. His company was delightful (as was his body) and it was just a pleasure. The entire staff was great and I almost did not want to leave. They had on 70's music and it brought me back to another time in my life and the whole experience was great. GREAT 5-STAR SALON RIGHT HERE ON CYPRESS CREEK 5/12/2011

I recently went to Guys & Dolls (on Cypress Creek near Dixie) within the last two weeks. I really loved my entire experience there. This is the best haircut and haircolor that I have had in a very long time. I was approached and greeted in a very friendly manner. The entire staff were very pleasant and professional. The salon is very attractive, hip, ecclectic and extremely immaculate. Francisco is an excellent haircutter (and so, so hot) and really knew how to handle my curly hair. It looks fantastic each and every day without much effort. He is a star colorist and gave me a beautiful rich shiny haircolor. I will return happily to this salon and hope that I will be a longtime client. THANK YOU VERY MUCH Guys & Dolls!!! more

I had been researching salons in the South Florida area for about four months and kept going back to Guys & Dolls reviews. let me mention that I have been in Florida for 15 years and have had 2 different hair stylist in that time. I am very loyal and sometimes I tend to stay even when I am not getting the treatment I deserve or the style I want. My mother was a hairstylist and owned her own salon before passing away. I witnessed first hand how a client should be treated and witnessed how the stylist should never be treated by a client. I walked into Guys & Dolls to schedule an appt for the following week after mulling for months over leaving my current stylist. I was greeted by JT who was friendly and seemed impressed that I was respectful on not expecting to get in that day. Which was never my intention. I just wanted to see the salon and make sure it was where I wanted to go. He scheduled me with Francisco. On March 11th I went in for my appt. I had a conversation with everyone in the salon who worked there at some point in time during my visit. EVERYONE was so friendly. Francisco listened to what I wanted. Advised me on which way to go and delivered the ""goods"". He was so friendly and maticulous. I am definatly going back. The salon is adorable and comfortable. I am a coffee lover and they provide Barny's or you can have wine if you like. As far as price. like everyone at this time I am tight on money. I am paying about the same as my last stylist but getting what I feel is definatly better service. They even sent me an email thanking me and had someone call to followup and make sure I was happy. I would definatly recommend this salon to anyone looking for quality! So glad I found them more

Just a Great Place for Hair - Plain & Simple 3/9/2011

My search for a great colorist and stylist is over!! Dawn is perfect - she listens carefully to what her clients want, but is willing to contribute her professional suggestions. The best thing - every client in there had completely different (but equally beautiful) looks - from edgy, precision cuts w/ unconventional color to more traditional cuts and natural/corrective color (me :)) this place seems to do it all and do it well. Loved, loved, loved Jessie, but the salon as a whole is a friendly professional and peaceful place. I can't wait for my next appointment. If Only I Had Known 3/9/2011

I live in Imperial Point and have been going to the same stylist at the same salon on Commercial for over 10 years and I was getting the same hair style and hair color. I never gave it musch thought because I have had the same job and the same husband and I guess I was just plain old regular me. Everday I drive by Guys & Dolls while going back & forth to work and I never gave it a second thought - just another salon in a corner mall. Well, last week we finally met our new neighbors who bought a house next to ours - they are a great couple who just moved here from Maryland. more

Fried my hair off 3/8/2011

I went to Dawn after reading numerous great reviews, boy was that a mistake. I went in for highlights and left with my hair being fried off. It was falling out in clumps when she brushed it. The color was great, but I left with half the amount of hair and completely damaged. I have been dying my hair for years and not once have I ever experienced something so awful happening to my hair. It is taking for ever for this mistake to grow out, because some of the pieces of my hair were fried off to about and inch short. So sad, considering I used to have long beautiful hair. more

Welcoming, Fun, and Professional 3/4/2011

I travel to the area frequently to support a relative in a nearby health facility; one recent morning, I passed a salon banner on the road which ""spoke to me"" with its message. Even though I am reluctant to be a salon ""walk-in"" after previous bad experiences in my life, I had a good feeling the minute I walked through the door here! I was welcomed warmly, given an appointment with Francisco later in the day, and got exactly the haircut and the mental lift that I needed; I left feeling I had found a new salon home... even though I live in another state! I will definitely return and my ""hair maintenance"" will now be a regular part of my Fort Lauderdale visits. more

I love going there they treat me like a queen . I had my hair cut and colored by Dawn the best ever. she is very creative. I have an appt. again for the end of march for color, and this is my fourth time going.
