Good with my children 12/14/2011

The dentist was very good with my children. Although I'm a little upset they couldn't finish my childs fillings that day so I will have to bring my child back to have them finished and pay money again for the laughing gas. Other than that I was pleased with her work and care for my children. more

I went in on a ? Wed. Last week and found out I need a root canal... They gave me a scrip for antibiotics and pain pills,however, over the weekend I was in more pain. Monday I called wanting to know why it was getting worse when I was on antib.. . ? They put me on hold, yes it was lengthy,but was worth it when I finally found out they had a spot for me in the pm. So, I finally got my root canal done. It still hurts a bit, but to be expected I guess. However, by our Christmas gathering this weekend I will probably feel much better. So, thanks for for getting me in. more

Very friendly, and sincere. I felt comfortable and didnt have this fear while i was on the chair, as usual, the doctor and the assistant are very kind and were very patient with me. they've also renovated the place and it looks very nice Pros: null Cons: null more

Can't recommend 10/18/2011

The staff, especially the hygienists and the dentist is friendly, but I find the office has very outdated equipment and practices. One filling took me 1 hour - I have tmj - nothing was put into my mouth to help me keep my mouth open. My jaw was going into spasms from having to hold my mouth open for so long. Another dentist told me this was terrible for my tmj. I should have been given a wedge and their tools should have been much sharper. Also, the dentist is only able to do front crowns. Huh? I don't think I'll go back for my crown. There is a reason why this office serves lots of medicaid patients. They can't get enough other patients. Sorry to say it, but it's true. more

Unpleasant! 9/28/2011

My child was in for a cleaning and the appointment took over an hour because my child was left laying upside down in the chair waiting for the doctor. My child who is 7 waited more than 20minutes for the doctor to come in and do her 'exam' which took all of three minutes. While waiting my child (along with everyone in the office) listened to two other children being treated through continual screams. My child even heard the adult doctor tell a child "if you bite me I'll bite you back". Is this really the lesson we want adult to teach a child. There is no comfort or understanding shown to the children at all. Fear and a hatred for dental care is taught. My child had 3 cavities and was literally scolded twice for not taking care of their teeth by the hygienist. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone, especially not for a child. more

Great Staff 8/26/2011

We were recently in for my daughter's second cleaning (she is 3 1/2) the staff was great! We were in and out. The only thing is that the waiting room is so small. more

Horrible 2/21/2011

It took me a month to straighten out what they screwed up with the insurance company. It didn't help that the person doing the insurance claims was only in the office two days a week and the days changed each week. We vowed to never go back ther again. Six months later my wife gets a call to confirm her appt on Valentines day. We had never set one up, so we called and canceled. A week later we receive a notice in the mail from our insurance company of the same check up my wife had back in August of 2010 with changes the office had just made reducing the amount the insurance company is paying again. Lets put it this way, my exam- $20.00 - my wifes with the same coverage- $160.00. Don't trust them to do their job. more

We won't be back 10/21/2010

This place is not customer friendly. But we would be patient with that if we received good treatment. We went to the orthodontist? to get braces for my son and it always seemed we were an inconvenience. Further, we had nothing to show for the money we gave them. We paid $800.00 for the upper braces to be put in, and they started off with a tongue training device that broke twice. Since the broken wire was still in our son's mouth, we thought that it would help if we could be seen sooner rather than later since it was a discomfort. But they had no intention of treating us or anyone like we had an emergency. It felt more like a D.M.V. office, or if we were applying for unemployment. When we decided to switch othordontists they pocketed 300.00 0f the 800.00 without an explanation of what we were actually being billed for, so we have nothing to show after paying 350.00 for films, and 300.00 for I don't know what. I don't recommend either of the two offices, Baldwin or Division. In fact I found that it is interesting that a lot of their orthodontist patients in up transferring to the office next door. So will we. more

If you are concerned about the use of toxic mercury fillings, find another dentist! The girl at the desk assured me before I made an appointment that I could have my choice of fillings; I would just need to tell the hygienest. At my daughter's checkup, I told the hygienest that I did not want any silver fillings being used. She said that was okay and wrote it in her chart. When I brought my daughter for subsequent visits, I ONCE AGAIN reminded the hygienest about NO MERCURY FILLINGS. So guess what. Yesterday, the dentist proceeded to fill a tooth with a silver filling. After the fact, he said it was because my daughter wasn't opening her mouth wide enough and he couldn't get it dry enough. Today when I talked to the girl at the desk, she said it was because my daughter was coughing too much. I wish Grand Valley had been honest and upfront with me about the fact that they do not have the expertise, nor the experience in working with the tooth colored fillings. They deceived me! more

Big difference from the Division location. 6/11/2008

Wow, what a difference! We had previously gone to the Division office and were treated terrible. After sitting in the waiting room for over an hour, they refused to even do any work on my daughter. She was four years old and very scared. The comment I got was "we don't deal with crying kids". If it's a family dental practice, you would think they'd run into some crying children once in a while. We started seeing another dentist and she then decided to quit accepting our insurance. As our last resort we went to Grand Valley Dental in Jenison. Everyone there was very professional and kind. The dentist was great. The hygenist that tended to my daughter was so sweet to her and there were no tears at all. I think my daughter may even have laughed a little bit. They got us reasonable appointments (on division you have to wait about six months to get an appointment). We're looking forward to our next appointment in Jenison next week for my boys. They even have an orthodontist there. My mind is at ease again knowing I can actually get my kids teeth taken care of. I'd recommend them. It definitely doesn't seem like the typical "medicaid office". more
