Just had service today from Golden West Pools, technician was very knowledgable and friendly. They came to look at the pool heater through my home warranty company. After about 10 minutes the technician assessed that the pressure switch had failed, he replaced it and had us up and running in 5 minutes. I would definitly recommend them to anyone for their pool repair needs, they are reliable, honest, punctual, and fixed my heater, I have had other contractors out who just want my $60.00 and make up some excuse to not fix my problem. Whoa. Just finished my first and only transaction with Owner Tony/Antonio at Golden West. They were chosen by my home warranty company Fidelity to repair a pool/hot tub pump. My last communication with Tony was his threat to me to not ""slander"" him. As a former prosecutor, trial attorney, and deputy city attorney, I'm pretty sure I understand what that means. This company is not only incompetent, they are dismissive, sneaky, and dishonest. Space prohibits details, but I have a chronology of the events in my case, and welcome an opportunity to address them in an objective forum. Their incompetent pool man installed a defective re-built pump on my hot tub. I was there. It didn't work when he left, and he (incorrectly) said it was some sort of vacuum issue. I eventually hired a competent repair man who installed a working pump. When I contacted Goldenwest, Marcy the office manager immediately told me the contractor is always right. I called the warranty company to see if the repair could be accomplished. While I was away from my home, Tony actually trespassed on my property, and passed a locked gate, to try to make his defense to the warranty company. He told me ""someone seems to have pried open your locked gate when I was there"" and the gate was open. It was closed and locked before he arrived, and ""jimmied"" and open with the dead bolt exposed when he left. Wow. I have a rebuilt Golden West pump that they left at my house if anyone is interested. Be aware. You have been warned.. more

Mr Fine, Golden West Pools has not provided pool service since 1995. If we are asked at a property for a referral we will generally give out 2-3 names of local companies. We do not solicit pools, sell pools, nor seek any referral compensation. If we are at a property for a home warranty claim we simply report back to the warranty company what needs to be repaired or replaced, your comment about switching maitenance to have a claim covered makes absolutly no sense. Last time I checked a pool company does not ""own"" their customers, this is America...where you can choose who you want to clean or fix your pool. If you did some research and checked out our contractors license C53-262399, you would see there has never been any complaints nor lawsuits against our company.We have been serving Southern California since 1968, we havenot been in business all these years because we are fraudulent. The only fraud being commited here are your malicious and slanderous comments which have no merit. The only legal action that will be taken will be from the legal council of Golden West Pools against your company and yourself. If you have any questions our number is 760-423-4400 more

GOLDEN WEST POOL REPAIR IS A FRAUD 12/28/2011

We service pools and spas in the Palm Springs Area. Golden West showed up at one our clients' home to do ""Repairs"". They stole our client by fraudulently telling the homeowner that in order to be covered by the insurance, they have to change their pool maintenance company. What they do is after they steal the client, they turn around and sell the account to another pool company. DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT let these frauds on your property under any circumstances. We know of many homeowners that are about to take legal action against this company. Happy New Year! more

Horrible service 6/9/2011

I called Golden West to fix my pool heater and they showed up one day late. This should have been the first tip off. They were unable to fix my heater, told me I needed a new heater and insisted on charging me a service call. When I refused and asked why should I pay you anything the tech became irrate. I called another pool service company from Corona and they were able to promptly fix my heater for $150.00. more

SATISFIED BUT WORRY WORN CUSTOMER 5/18/2011

I have had the displeasure of dealing with 2 of 3 pool companies, HSPS (Higher Standards Pool Service, Steve Little) which I would avoid at all costs; All American Pools from Mira Loma unable to handle requests efficiently, and, finally, GOLDEN WEST POOLS which came through with flying colors under Tony Smith, the owner. This was American Home Shield warranty work as well as high efficiency pump installation (by HSPS). Steer clear of the two I mentioned as well as Libbot which also is very slow in call backs from its ONE tech. more

Another Positive Experience 1/15/2011

Owning a pool can be a frustrating experience. Many things can go wrong but when they go right it is great fun. Pool broke a couple of weeks ago. Tried to save some money by using some local sources. They were able to do about 50% but just couldn't handle the technology involved. Finally called Golden West and, while it took 2 try, they got it figured out and now we are back up and running. Personnel were friendly and professional. Price was reasonable (is it ever cheap?). These are the GO TO guys. more

Consumer Beware 1/12/2011

Do not trust this company. Chances are if you have had work done by Golden West, Anthony or any of his team you have received a used part or product. I called them for a home warranty repair on my pool motor. They at first told me the motor was not covered due to negligence on my part. After I explained to him that the motor was new and that I have records of my pool maintenance he changed his tune. They replaced my motor with a used / rebuilt motor that quit working 6 months later. When I called the home warranty company they said it should have been a new motor!!! I ended up calling a professional pool service company and paid out of pocket for a new motor install. Bottom line, DO NOT LET THIS COMPANY IN YOUR BACKYARD! more

warranty 9/21/2010

Not happy with this pool company at all. Brent was called out on a warranty problem with my pool. Didn't spend much time looking at the specific problem. Already finished evaluating the pool when I arrived. Told me that the filters werent working and that it was a five minute job once it was approved by the warranty company. I tried telling him that we spent over $100 in chemicals and brushing the sides of the rock pool and that the pump was on every day, manually. He didn't seem interested at all, just in getting the co pay of $60. Talked to me like I was a child. My claim was denied, because he said it was lack of maintenance, when I have receipts for all the chemicals that we tried to bring the pool water back. Told me one thing and the warranty company something completely different. Wouldn't recommend this company to anyone. I feel scammed out of my $60. co pay. Why would I call the warranty company for a problem if all it was only a maintenance problem. If he had spent more than 5 minutes investigating the problem I might have got a professional answer. more

OUT OF TOWNERS 9/22/2008

WE JUST RECENTLY PURCHASED OUR RETIREMENT PROPERTY IN PGA WEST, WE HAVE MADE A FEW HOME WARRANTY CLAIMS AND HAVE HAD SOME REALLY BAD EXPERIENCES, CONTRACTORS NOT SHOWING UP, NOT RETURNING OUR PHONE CALLS, ETC. WE FILED A CLAIM ON OUR POOL PUMP THIS WEEK AND WERE DIRECTED TO GOLDEN WEST POOLS. WE ARE NOT IN TOWN AND USUALLY DO NOT LIKE SERVICE PROVIDERS ON OUR PROPRTY UNLESS WE ARE IN TOWN. THE OFFICE HELP AT GOLDENWEST POOLS WAS EXTREMELY COPERATIVE AND PROFESSIONAL, AFTER FEELING CONFIDENT IN THEIR COMPANY WE ALLOWED THEM TO SERVICE OUR PROPERTY. THE TECHNICIAN CAME TO OUR HOUSE, CALLED ME FROM OUR BACKYARD( TO CHICAGO) TO TELL US THAT THE MOTOR HAD A BROKEN PART. THEY THEN ADVISED US THAT THEY HAD THE PART ON THEIR VEHICLE AND WOULD BE COMPLETING THE REPAIR AT THAT TIME. WE WERE SO PLEASED BECAUSE WE KNOW HOW HOT IT IS IN THE DESERT RIGHT NOW AND DID NOT WANT OUR POOL TO TURN GREEN. SO THEY CALLED US WHEN THE WORK WAS DONE AND NOTIFIED US THAT IF WE HAD ANY PROBLEMS AND WE WEREN'T IN TOWN THAT THEY WOULD SERVICE US AT ANY TIME. WE OUR SO PLEASED THAT THERE ARE STILL PEOPLE AROUND IN TODAYS GENERATION THAT WILL ACTUALLY DO WHAT THEY SAY WHEN THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO, WE ARE BABY BOOMERS ENTERING RETIREMENT AND ARE GLAD THAT NOT EVERBODY IS TRYING TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF US BECAUSE WE ARE SNOW BIRDS. reliable pool repair company 9/20/2008

The technician came out through my home warranty company claim. they showed up on time , spoke english, and were very friendly. I have a salt water pool in need of a computer board for the system, they ran the claim through and it wasn't covered. i am not to happy with the home warranty company, and i know it wasn't the pool companies fault that it wasn't covered item, my fault for not reading the fine print in my home warranty contract.. Goldenwest had the part on the repair truck, I had them complete the repair while they were there. I was very pleased with there service, and the part was not over priced, i checked on it while they were outside replacing it. I look forward to using them in the future and would highly recommend them to any one in need of reliable pool repair service. Pros: showed up on time more

Anthony ,is the owner of this company.His service people damaged our pool system while they were working to correct a problem they were called out to repair.He defended their actions and blamed the problem on our equipment.He became very irate and would not consider fixing the damage. Great Customer Service 1/28/2008

Anthony and Brent are great. They promised to have the equipment installed on a specific day and they made it happen even though they had to stay until 8:00. We have never owned a pool before that they have been very good about explaining things to us and helping us along. Pros: They do great work. Cons: They are very busy and difficult to get hold of quickly. more
