HIGHWAY ROBBERY 10/14/2009

Gillece came to my house to unclog a backed up sewer. They worked on it for about an hour and a half; then the plumber told me the sewer must be collapsed because he was pulling up mud. (Hmmm....lets think what mud is....decomposed plants, animals etc....what the hell do you expect to be in a 70yr old pipe?)he stopped called his supervisor to come out with a camera. (The camera was pointless because the pipe was full of water and muck, you could not see a thing.) They then proceeded to give an estimate of over $6,000 to replace about three feet of sewer pipe. To boot, my main shutoff valve was leaking; Gillece quoted $700 to change a $50 valve. Two days later a different company came out and unclogged the sewer with no problem. The price to change the shutoff was $130. Gillece's work is guaranteed for life but do you really think that I'll have to do this job 5 more times in my lifetime? Gillece price: $50 for parts $650 for labor= $700 Other Plumbers: $50 for parts $80 for labor= $130 I'd like my $99 back for not unclogging the pipe and trying to run a scam. Pros: Excellent scam artists Cons: Prices are well above market value more

Quick Service, leak fixed...I think 10/13/2009

I don't believe that they are worth the money they charge. I was sick at the stomach when my husband told me what he had spent. No more leaks, but I believe that what they charged should be considered criminal. I am telling all my friends and anyone who will listen that if they call this company to be sure and get another estimate before they let these people do the work. I cetainly cannot recommend without a very very strong warning.... Pros: Service right away Cons: Too Too Expensive more

$99 Sewer Cleaning 10/7/2009

Great customer service, very funny guys, easy to work with.... They told me the exact problem and showed me what to do and what not to do. *Note to self: Never use Drain-O. It's bad for the drains....eats away at everything, INCLUDING the pipes, leading to larger problems and ultimately more money.* Why didn't I give them 5 stars, you ask? Well, this is the first time I've had to call a plumber, so I don't know what constitutes as a 5-star rating. Plus, they left a little mess for me to clean up. Nothing a bath towel or a Sham-WOW couldn't do though! Pros: Great customer service - right on time more

Disappointed 10/2/2009

I made an appointment for plumbing work in advance. When I called in I asked them for when they had an opening. They said between 12 and 4 on Friday. I took half day off of work to be there. As of 4:30pm they had not shown. I called and they said they were running late and could I reschedule for Saturday. The answer was no. I already lost $200.00 in pay taking the time off. Its not like I called for same day service. I expected better. Pros: Very professional phone staff Cons: Did honor appointment commitment more

clean polite and professional 10/1/2009

Last week I called Gillece to replace some plumbing in my home. The young man they sent was very knowlegable and polite. He and another plumber did the work right the first time and cleaned up after. I am recommending this company to all who will listen! Pros: worth every penny Cons: none more

Honest and up-front with my elderly parents 9/22/2009

I was called at work by my mother telling me that she had a plumber at her home telling her that she needed a new water heater. My mother and father are in their eighties and have been making some very "questionable" financial decisions recently. I was very relieved (and quite frankly stunned) that they called me to tell me that they were considering buying a lifetime warranted water heater from Gillece and that the plumber in their home actually suggested that they call me to make sure that they were making a good decision. Needless to say, they did not need a lifetime warranty on anything, but I was very impressed with the fact that the plumber recognized that my Mom and Dad were not at their best when it came to financial decisions and suggested to them that they include me in the decision. Thankfully I was given the opportunity to review the different options for water heater replacement and make a decision to just choose the lowest warranty option since we are planning to move Mom and Dad in with us. I don't beleive all of the negative reviews that are posted on this review website. They must be being posted by either a jealous competitor or a disgruntled employee, because my experience with this company has been completely the opposite. Gillece was not cheap, but I wouldn't trust anyone else to deal with my vulnerable elderly parents and I will highly recommend them to anyone that asks. Pros: Honest and caring company Cons: A biit expensive but worth it more

Wonderful Service - Top Notch Employees 9/5/2009

I had some plumbing problems that were easily diagnosed and fixed on the first call. Technician looked at all my plumbing and gave me a time table for bringing up my 50 year old home up to speed. There was no pressure, just helpful advice. I plan on using them gain for furnace service. Pros: Service men polite, knowledgeable and on time Cons: None more

Thanks to Gillece we are enjoying wonderful showers!! 9/2/2009

Recently the hot water flow in our bathtub slowed down to almost a trickle making it just about impossible to take a shower. As our house is 63 years old and I am even older than that, my knee-jerk reaction was to become quite nervous, not knowing what to expect and, of course, expecting the worst. But, I had to do something, so I went to the phone book and found Gillece. I had seen their commercials on TV so I called them and set up an appointment for the next day. Well, all my worries had been for nothing. The next day, Adam from Gillece showed up. He was very cheerful and pleasant, was neatly dressed, and made a good first-impression. He later proved to have a great sense of humor as well, which I really appreciated. The effect of this was that some of my anxiety immediately went away. We have Moen faucets which are nine years old and they did not come with a cartridge removing tool. Moreover, as there seem to be as many different kinds of faucets as breakfast cereals out there today, there is no universal tool out there as there was 40-50 years ago when I used to tackle some of these repairs around the house myself. And, because of this, Adam was at first not able to remove the cartridge. My anxiety started to return, but Adam, seeing this, smiled and reassured me by explaining that he wasn't going to break anything and that he was going to go to a shop that would have the right tool! When he returned, he easily removed the old cartridge, showed me the debris build-up around it that was clogging it up. He then asked me to turn the water back on and run water through the line (without the cartridge in)so that debris that had been lodged in the pipe behind the faucet would be flushed out. He also had a tool that allowed him to scrape additional debris from the walls of the pipe in the wall leading tho the faucet. Adam then explained that he could replace the old cartridge if I wished, but that there probably was a good chance of there being debris inside the cartridge which he would not be able to get to, and that a better option would be to replace the cartridge. Having complete confidence in Adam, I opted for the new cartridge, and now, thanks to Adam's expertise, we are enjoying wonderful showers! I would like to close by saying that you know that a company that sends as its representative someone of the caliber of Adam to your home has to be a good, dependable company. I will definitely call on them again should the need arise and I heartily recommend them. Pros: Great employees - Friendly and knowledgeable more

will RIP YOU OFF! 9/2/2009

I requested their services because I was told by the dryer installer that I needed to get gas line shut-off valve installed. The installer said this would be a large job, because the main gas line would have to be shut off, and all the pilots would need to be restarted. First off, Gillece gave me a window during which they would show up. The window came and went, and the service man finally showed 1 hour late. He said to install the valve it would cost $400 and that was the cheapest he could possibly go. Because of the $75 service call and the time invested waiting on him, along with the fact that I am not familiar with plumbing, I signed off on the charge (which I regret every day). He proceeded to unscrew the gas line, while it was still open, LETTING GAS FLOW FREELY into my basement. He screwed on the valve, attached the dryer and was done. I was so angry. The labor for the 10 minutes of work, combined with the one part (the valve) should NEVER have cost $400. I felt that they took advantage of me, so my fiance later called them to request a breakdown of the bill to see where the charges were coming from. They finally mailed us a letter saying they stood by the charges, that they reflect their services! They never even gave the breakdown of the bill. I will make it known to whoever will listen that they use unfair practices and take advantage of trusting individuals. DO NOT USE GILLECE PLUMBING - they will rip you off. Cons: terrible service, expensive for even simple jobs more

Same day or free worked for me :-) 8/21/2009

Well it was not exactly free, but it was a great deal. On Monday I called 3 or 4 other companys asking when they could get out to fix my air conditioner because it was soooo muggggy and hottt and my a/c was not working. Every company I called said tha tthey wouldnt be able to get anyone out to look at my a/c until at least Thursday or Friday. Gillece promised same day service so I booked it. Around 7 pm Monday the dispatcher called to say that they needed to reschedule me for the next day. I was not tooo happy about that since I had waited around all day but they assured me that they would be out first thing Tuesday morning and that since I had to be rescheduled that my call would be done for free. I was skeptical but the next morning they had me set as the first call and they showed up at my door at 730 in the morning. The service man Ron was so polite and knoledgeable. He figured out that all that I needed was a capacitator, installed a new one and the A/C kicked on immediately and started making cold air Thank God!! The best part is tha tthe only thing that they charged me for was their cost for the part which was 13.88. Overall a great experience (aside fromthe rescheduling) and Ron was great. I highly recommend them, and not just because I got the free service, they really live up to their promise of free service. Pros: Air conditioner fixed for only $14 Cons: Had to be rescheduled in muggy heat :-( more

Friendly - Reliable - Trusted - Recommended 7/28/2009

I am so impressed with this company. Called on Friday night around 11 pm with a problem with my air conditioner. Told answering service what was wrong and within ten minutes I was called back by the repairman. I told him that I could wait until the morning so that I didn't have to pay the extra after hours fee but I wanted to be first on the list in the morning. Sure enough - 7:05 the next morning I got a call from their dispatcher that the technician was on his way and would be there within a half hour. I did spend a little over $500 for the service but I feel confident that the problem is solved. Pros: Professionalism Cons: None more

Total ripoff 7/21/2009

Gave us an estimate of $3,789. for moving pipes in basement for a remodel project. We called in 3 other plumbers, whose estimates were all under $1,000. They also did a minor repair in our powder room, replacing the float and then a valve, charged us $420 for 15 minutes worth of work. Had to call them back because the toilet no longer flushed properly. When they fixed that, it still didn't work right! We had the plumber who did our basement work fix it, and they only charged us for the new material used, about $30.00. Cons: incredibly overpriced and not very competent more

WHAT A THEIF! 6/29/2009

Called them for a new water tank. Was told that we had a dangerous carbon monoxide causing gas leak and needed a new tank etc. Insisted on making arrangements to pay before they installed. Talked to a supervisor and the tech was calling me the next am on a SUNDAY before I even heard form the supervisor. I was afraid for my 3 children because of what he said and they did come and install the heater. VERY over priced but did not know that then. We never got a bill they just deducted $1200.00 from our bank wihtout permission causing hundreds in NSF charges that they are refusing to pay. I have to go to the magistrate now to get our money back. What A RIP OFF! Pros: none Cons: everything about our experience with them more

Finally a company that lives up to its advertising! 4/3/2009

My 10 year old furnace and air conditioner needed to have its annual checkup performed. We have been calling the same man that installed the furnace for regular maintenance every year faithfully. He regretfully informed me this year that due to the tough economy, he had to close his business. He recommended that I call Gillece because they were the only company in town that he knew would deliver the same quality of service that he had always provided. I saw there TV ad saying that they would do the tuneup for 19.95 plus a food donation and took them up on it. I was amazed at their prompt service - the truck pulled up in front of my house at 7:57 for an 8 AM appointment. Just being on time doesn't mean that much if the person that shows up doesn't know what he is doing, but the service technician that showed up was so knowledgeable, helpful, friendly and honest that I signed up for a multiple year service agreement on my furnace and AC. After watching the steps that Gillece went through to make sure they were checking out the furnace and air conditioner thoroughly, it wasn't hard to come to the conclusion that the gentleman that we had been using to perform the maintenance on our furnace had not done an adequate job, as much as we liked him as a person. I am confident in the operation of my furnace and AC now and will call Gillece again next year and every year. BTW the entire cost of a furnace and air conditioner tuneup was only $40 plus a food donation...Awesome!! Pros: Ultimate Professionals - Courteous, Prompt, Expert.... more

Excellent Service - Professional and Helpful 3/29/2009

We had a slow leak in a pipe and could not locate the leak. We called Gillece and a service man came out, and was right on time. He found the leak in the pipe, and since my husband is pretty handy himself, told us exactly how to fix the leak and only charged us the dispatch fee. He even unclogged my bathtub drain and showed my husband what tools and parts he would need to buy to fix the leaking pipe. I would call Gillece in a heartbeat if I ever needed a profesional plumber again. Pros: Did the job right Cons: None more

Excellent Customer Service 3/28/2009

When I realized ther were more problems, they insisted on coming out again, free of charge, to ensure they had done everything possible. Everythings fixed now. Thanks! Pros: Food drive helps the community Cons: None more
