Finally, A Quality Cut in Ithaca! 7/5/2011

Let me get right to the point: I am Korean. Like most Asians, my hair is very difficult to cut - it is coarse, it grows in thickly, and you can see any mistakes in cutting it from about ten feet away. I have been living in and out of Ithaca since 2002, and it wasn't until I went to Gia's Elite Style that I finally found someone in Ithaca who could cut my hair properly. The stylist at Gia's does an amazing job from start to finish. She takes the time to study your face and to listen to you explain what you want to do with your hair. Along the way, she gives helpful suggestions for the cut. Once she starts cutting, she takes her time to do everything just right; I never feel like she's going ahead of what I want. My cut usually takes about 30 minutes, and she uses every minute of it to the max. And, remarkably, she's able to hold a fun and genuine conversation the whole time! She really understands hair, and she takes your haircut personally. All of this for just around $30-35! I'll be sticking with Gia's Elite Style for the rest of my time here in Ithaca. more

Fabulous Haircuts! 7/1/2011

Nalyn has been cutting my hair for almost a year now. She is AMAZING! Every haircut I've gotten looks fabulous!! Nalyn also has a bubbly personality and is so fun to chat with while getting your haircut. I won't go anywhere else in Ithaca! more

Best service and Haircut! 6/29/2011

I went to get the first professional hair cut I have had in over 8 years. I went to Gia's Elite Style because my daughter is friends with the owners daughter. I received the friendliest welcome, my daughter got an awesome haircut and the way she wanted it and I got the greatest hair cut. It fet great; I swear Nalyn has magick fingers because I almost fell asleep. I had my eyebrows waxed for the first time ever by Nalyn also. This is the only salon I will ever go to and Nalyn gave me great hair advice and tips for my next visit to her and what kind of cut would be good for my hair. Thanks Nalyn, you rock!!!! And you have the best personality ever, you made me and my daughter feel so comfortable! more

Great hair cuts! 6/22/2011

Best in Ithaca! I am so glad that I found Gia's before I wasted my time with other stylists! When I get my hair done, I'm treated like a movie star, and it's so much fun. I always get the style I'm looking for and she also adds an edgy trend that fits my personality. She also offers great advice on hair-care products to use for my specific hair type as well as suggestions for new things to try. I also love how I can typically walk in and she can do my hair then and there. I get short hair cuts, and anytime I go to a barber, I always walk away with a cut that looked great in the picture, but not so on me. Nalyn is able to take a picture I bring in and give me the cut I want with a new trendy edge so that it fits my features. All the while we chat and joke, and she won't let me leave until she knows I'm happy. In short: great quality hair cuts and styles that make me feel and look like a celebrity without breaking the bank all done by a great woman who is very welcoming and professional. more

nalyn is the best! 4/27/2011

Do not hesitate to try out Nalyn's services. She is really great - professional, very attentive to detail, flexible if you need her to be, friendly, honest, and most importantly, she does a fantastic job!!! I thank my lucky stars I found her, some 5 years ago, when I randomly walked into her previous salon; although it was already late in the day she spared no time or effort to transform my usual basic trim into a stylish 'razor cut', complete with subtle highlights and an eyebrow touch-up to boot! (Since then she'd moved to Triphammer mall which is even more convenient for me as I like to shop/snack there.) Ever since that unexpected makeover, i have been hooked. Keep in mind also that considering the quality of her work, she keeps her prices at a very reasonable level. So make an appointment now - or just go walk in, as I still usually do... more

Amazing hair work!!!! 4/25/2011

Wow, i loved her work on my hair, it was amazing, I tried the Brazilian Keratin with her, and couldn't love the result more, Nalyn did a fantastic job with the straightening, the Keratin and the final cut she did on my hair, I couldn't even recognize myself, FIVE STARS!!!!!! Highly recommended! more

This place is so welcoming. The clothes are awesome with a little something for everyone's style as well as price range.\r \r Nayln is great at doing eyebrows. She really puts time and care into what she does. I love going to see her and you would too! more

Great style 3/28/2011

Gia's Elite offers a great style. Haircuts are quick and requires minimum care (great for lazy folks like me)... I like the layers that Nalyn creates. And even better, she knows what you want without laborious explanation! Have been there three or four times by now, and would definitely go again. more

Delightful Little Gem 3/3/2011

I loved finding this little gem of a store. The classy, chic clothing caught my eye on the rack outside the door so I had to go in and look. I ended up with 8 things to try on and bought 7 of them. It was like finding buried treasure. I loved the little shop because it was full of really good looks, neat clothes and accessories, but easy to move around in, not like racks you could barely squeeze through. The smell was wonderful and I found out later why...she does hair and eyebrows! Yes! I have found someone who knows what she is doing with hair and does brow shaping and tinting too. I can't wait to take my college daughter there when she comes home for a cut and eyebrow shaping. I'm going back for more clothes not only because of the prices but because she gets new clothes all the time. I just felt an immediate friendship with Nalyn (propriator) and we both had fun looking at clothes and talking about hair. more

Gia's Elite Style has a very professional environment while being warm and friendly at the same time. This salon provides a variety of services, including haircuts and threading of eyebrows and face. Along with salon services, Nayln has a wonderful selection of clothing at great prices. Nayln's store is one of my favorite places to go in all of Ithaca. more

Really Great Haricut 3/3/2011

Nalyn immediately put me at ease, and had many suggestions for my hair. She gave me the best haircut I have ever had. She took her time and did a thorough job. My hair looks great! I have never had a cut that required so little maintenance to look fantastic. If you want a fabulous haircut, go here. more

There is a warm professional atmosphere in Gia Elite Style. Nayln has been cutting hair for over 20 years and she does a great job. Her attention to detail and perfection is rare. Friendly, professional, and a great men's haircut. 2/6/2011

It's difficult to get a good men's haircut in Ithaca if you want to avoid the barber shop buzz-cut experience or the student-oriented places in Collegetown. I stumbled upon Nalyn and her salon on a Sunday afternoon and she was happy to take me without an appointment, and gave me a great salon-style cut for a very reasonable price considering the quality of the work she does. She was very friendly and easy to talk to, and was very devoted to her craft and extremely precise and thorough with her cutting. I'd highly recommend Nalyn at Gia's Elite and she has definitely made me a regular customer. more

Heads and shoulders above the rest 2/2/2011

I have visited Nalyn several times since I came to Ithaca and she is certainly one of the best hairdresser I've met throughout the cities I lived in. Very experienced and proficient. Her styles fit me perfectly. It's slightly pricier, but the looks Nalyn create definitely are heads and shoulders above the rest. more

Friendly, Efficient, and Proficient 2/1/2011

I am a guy who has lived in many places (not only in the US), and must say that Nalyn is among the top-2 hair dressers I have ever met in my life. I have always had some difficulty getting a good haircut. The issue is that I have curly hair, and many hair dressers do not know how to cut it or underestimate the difficulty of doing it. But not with Nalyn -- her haircut is friendly, efficient, and extremely proficient. I can only recommend her with five glowing stars. more

Gia's Elite is my best hair cut ever! 1/28/2011

Nalyn is the best hair styalist I have had do my hair yet! I had another local hair dresser I had been to for over 10 years when she left town I was stuck to find a new hair dresser. I had reluctantly tryed som other places in town like Hair graphics ( they didn't give me a youthful cut or anything that lasted, even tryed diffrent people there) I have difficult long thick hair, which many styalist find to be challanging but Nalyn has given me multiple cuts over the last year and I have never been happyer. She really listend to what I wanted and told me if she could do it or not with my hair. I love the cut she gives me and what i like even more is that it stays looking great as it grows!! I hope she never leaves the area! I find the price to be a little higher than what I am use too but I don't have to go as often, so it works out. more
