If you have been wanting to travel to Brasil but just haven't planned you trip, its okay!!! You can travel to the next best thing, GAUCHOS VILLAGE in the city of Glendale and experience Brasil up close and personal. I've been to Brasil over the past 7 years and visited many cities and eaten in those cities Churrascaria barbeque style food; let me say that GAUCHOS VILLAGE offers the same quality and atmosphere as those resturants in Brasil. I have even had amigos visit me here in Los Angeles from Brasil and taken them there and they too were impressed with the food and atmosphere. I would recommend if you like to have fun on the weekends then Friday and Saturday nights are a time of not only fun but to experience Brasilian music, they offer live entertainment, with musicians from Brasil, and of course samba dancing performances at 8-9-10p.m. This is such a treat not only for you but friends and the kids. I was there last Friday evening and meet a 3 year old who loved the music so much he danced during the samba performances. He stay with his family and friends for all three shows. So if you what some fun and good food go check the official website of GAUCHOS VILLAGE at www.gauchosvillage dot com and truly experience a taste of Brasil, you will be greeted by many Brasilians working at the resturant with not only a smile, but asking how do you like the food and music. You will more than likely be greeted from the owner, Kevin, personally. Ron Siders Pros: Ambience, Service, Music (especially on Friday & Saturday) Cons: Parking more

Best place for a birthday party 3/28/2007

jaymail2day Provided by Partner
I came here with a group of friends for my birthday. They totally made the experience wonderful and personalized. The band even sang happy birthday to me in portuguese, and get this, the owner gave our table a free bottle of champagne and took four of the dinners off our table. I've never had that happen before at any restaurant. Usually you'd be lucky to get a birthday candle in a cupcake at most other places. The service was great and the entertainment was exciting. I highly recomend this place for any group function or event. The only drawback was waiting for our table, but the bar kept us very happy and the drinks are yummy and strong. Pros: Entertainment, Food, Drinks, Service Cons: Waiting for our table more

Every experience has been delightful from having a tasty caipirnhia provided by the hot, friendly bartender to staying late and dancing with friends and fun employees. The atmosphere is so energetic and open and I feel like I get a real Brazilian experience every time I go. I would highly recommend Gaucho's Village if you're looking for tasty food and a fun, exciting night out. Pros: ambiance Cons: a tad expensive more

Most Authentic Brazilian Drinks Anywhere! 3/28/2007

I'm a regular and love hanging out at the bar to just absorb the atmosphere and entertainment. The drinks are sooooo good and very strong. Be sure to try the Caiparinha! The live music and samba dancers are incredible and the staff is very friendly and helpful. The food is to die for! I usually order the meat platter at the bar which is a variety of their cuts of meat and enough food to feed three or four people. It is very reasonably priced for what you get. Pros: Very fun atmosphere Cons: Gets noisy and crowded on weekends more

I have eaten in restaurants all over the world but last weekend was my first visit to Gauchos Village. I must say that it was a wonderful experience. Excellent! The waiters were so attentive and wanted to make sure that I had everything I wanted. Excellent service, excellent food and a great atmosphere, what more could you ask for. The gauchos reminded me of Argentina where I lived for 3 years. A great experience. 5 stars!? more

been here plenty of times. absolutely delicious meats. only had better once ( from my argentine friend thats a master griller ) the last time i went, i brought my girlfriend and decided to introduce a good friend to the place. we were very disappointed that we were not aknowledged for over 15 minutes. i mean we didn't even have water at the table. by the way, there were 10 tables seated...MAX. and i thought i was getting to be a local. we walked out very sad and very hungry. none of us have been back since. more

Avoid at all cost!!! Worst Experience I've had at a restaurant, Rude Host & Service 3/10/2007

makiev Provided by Partner
Tonight I had made reservations for 3 people at 9PM. I was with my wife&father-in-law (who was visiting from out of town).I thought this would be the perfect place to bring my father-in-law, him being a meat lover &having read the reviews I thought I had finally found the place to wine & dine my in law. BIG TIME MISTAKE. We got there around 8:30PM figuring we would get seated faster. The host tells us that our reservation is at 9&that our table isn't ready. He directs us to the bar&says he?ll call us when the table is ready. So OK we go to the bar area to check out the decor and the show. The bartender repeatedly asks us if we were going to order anything. We declined every time and on the third time he tells our party to move away from the bar because we weren't ordering anything. My wife explains to him that we were simply waiting for our table, in which drew a blank stare from the bartender. I quickly head back to the host and ask about our table since it was 9:10 already & the fact that there were people constantly being seated before us even though we were there way before. I ask the host again about the table&he tells me he'll get me a table after the show. The show ends & I was asking the host again about our table. Once again he tells me our table isn't ready. So we decide leave and start heading towards the exit. My wife tells the host our party is leaving in which he replies "OK" As we're waiting for our car, I believe the either the owner or manager came to speak with us. He tells us that our reservation was at 9PM and that they were busy. That I could understand but the rudeness we received from the staff was unacceptable. And at that point I really was not in the mood to sit down and have my meal with such a disgraceful establishment. I should have taken my family to Picanha or Fogo de Chao instead. Never again will I step foot into this place!!! I?ve had better service at McDonald?s compared to this place. Ruined the whole night for my family. Pros: Convenient Valet Parking at 8 bucks a pop Cons: Host & Service, Over rated restaurant more

Extremely mediocre meat 3/8/2007

globalhobo07 Provided by Partner
I would have much rather paid 15 dollars for one, delicious, good-sized steak with sides at Bossa Nova Grill on Sunset Blvd. than have paid 25 dollars (your only option here) at Gaucho Village for a variety of mediocre cuts. I can see that the TGIF/Chili's crowd loves this place, given the other reviews. Trust me, if you've had real steak before, and you know who you are, avoid this place at all costs. Sure they folow traditional churrascaria format (rodizio), but the quality is just not there. Not worth what they charge. Pros: Ambience Cons: The forgettable food more

Great food but the service isn't that great. 3/4/2007

I've been here several times before but after our experience on Saturday, I'm not sure if we'll be dining here again. The service was pretty bad actually. We tried making reservations since we were coming from West LA and not too sure what to expect when we got there and they told us that they weren't taking reservations but if we came after 9pm, we'd have a table. We arrived there at around 9:30pm and we asked for a table and the host said, "Not tonight". We asked if it was possible to sit outside so that's where we ended up. We ordered a bottle of wine and the server couldn't get the cork out so it basically broke in half inside of the wine bottle. He eventually got it out but you sort of had to wonder why it was so difficult. The service was really slow since we were outside. We requested the tri-tip about 4 times since it never came around to us and it finally came when we were sick of waiting and ready to leave. We've never had this problem before but apparently now that it's been here a little longer, service is not a priority. Pros: Excellent Food. Cons: Service is not priority here like it used to be. more

Very entertaining 2/10/2007

The first time I went was for my birthday last month. We had no reservations so we sat outside. Although we missed the entertainment, it was nice & pleasant and Kevin came out and introduced himself. I thought that was a nice gesture. I had them bring me flan, they sang happy birthday to me, it really was a pleasant experience for me. The second time I brought another friend. She raved about the entertainment, she loved the music, she said how much she wants to go to Brasil now. She really enjoyed herself and I liked it of course, especially since i could see the entertainment. I highly recommend it for those who want to experience a churrascaria. Pros: food, music/dancing/live entertainment and eye candy! Cons: cafeteria style, lack of privacy, noisy more

I've found no other Brazilian place better than this!! ... music, environment, people, and the most important thing, ... the FOOD!! ... the meat is awesome!! .. always fresh and delicious!! ... the price is reasonable. I thought the caipirinha was kind of expensive and also, I wanted the Guarana to be Refilling ... hahaha .. that's just my suggestion. but no complains ... at all ... I LOVE IT!!! Pros: the good meat Cons: Parking lot more

Great entertainment, 2/2/2007

As Portuguese, we search for food similar to our culture while sharing the experience with friends. Another Portuguese friend who lives a few blocks away is a regular here and wanted us to experience it as well. In addition, both my husband and our friend are culinary trained chefs. So we aren't your average critic; we're a little bit more picky but we know good food & service when we see it. When we first walked in, we loved the atmosphere. Great seats, great art. Atmosphere: Excellent. Great band and great samba dancers. This place we thought it better than the rest in terms of entertainment. Food: Good. After a round of drinks, we decided to start eating. The salad bar wasn't anything special. Others are definitely much more elaborate and of higher quality. The meats however were fairly good, especially the spicy chicken and the sirloin. Service. Poor. This is what will stop us from coming back. Our waiter had an attitude from the beginning. He was visibilly annoyed that we had free drink tickets. However, we still ordered ten drinks for four people! And to get those eight drinks was like pulling teeth. Everytime we looked for him, he was hanging out at the bar, coming on to the samba girls, or showing off to himself how he could spin his drink tray like a basketball. We would have stayed to order more drink rounds but didn't want to put up with bad service. So now we had to wait for him to notice us for a check. He brought it by and of course the drink tickets were still on the check. We had to flag him again to get him to correct it. Needless to say, we tipped him 1% of our $225 check. We were really upset with his service. Our friend will still go back. He said this wasn't typical the times he's been there. And will make sure he's not seated at one of his tables. We told him will pass and have to introduce him to a better quality place (Agorra in Irvine) but warned him there's no entertainment. Pros: Entertainment Cons: Waiters are more into the girls and themselves more

THE 12/29/2006

I stumbled upon this gem while walking around downtown Glendale and have become a weekly patron ever since. Sometimes even twice a week. I can't say enough about this place. The service is top notch, they make you feel right at home. It's the kind of restaurant where the owner will come to your table and make sure everything is better than you could have expected. I've never had to wait to be seated, and everyone I've brought is wondering why they haven't heard about it sooner. It's basically a buffet style where you walk in, sit down, order your drinks, then head over and load your plate from an assortment of Rice, beans, peas, vegetables, breads, chicken, and everything else under the sun. After you sit back down to start chomping to your hearts delight, they bring out 7 different varieties of pork, beef, steak, and chicken on skewers which they add to your plate provided that the green light/red light wooden blocks at your table are placed with the green side up. Red side up means you've had enough. The only complaint is that my stomach isn't big enough to fit it all in. Make sure to pace yourself. As far as the meats go, make sure to get the Brazilian Pork and the Tri-tip Steak. I'll see you there! Pros: everything Cons: nothing more

Amazing customer service, amazing food and entertainment. 12/9/2006

I can't say enough about this place. The second you walk in you are greeted with a smile from everyone. The decor is beautiful and the atmosphere is live. We had the most amazing Brazilian wine with our meal (very affordable, $28 for the bottle). The salad bar is fantastic with salads and sides ranging from black beans and rice and beef empenadas to deliciously cooked bananas. So, we grab a plate from the salad bar, sit down and turn the food indicator from red to green and the meat just starts coming. This meat was the most juicy and tastfully flavored. It would be very hard for me to pick a favorite but the filet mignon and chicken wrapped in bacon were over the top. I spent some time talking with the owner (Kevin), who is a Brazilian native, to compliment him on his restaurant. Kevin is a super nice guy who is very appreciative of all of his customers. I never met a nicer, more down to earth restaurant owner in the Los Angeles area. After I stuffed myself with meat, I kicked back , drank some more wine and listened to the live band that was playing. I left the restaurant with a great feeling knowing that I will be back there soon. Pros: All you can eat Cons: I can't think of any more
