I drove all the way from Orange County for this 5/17/2008

After hearing about this place on the Travel Channel (something relating to Steakhouses) we decided to drive all the way from Orange County to this place and check it out. It was down hill starting from the front door. We made reservations and when we arrived at the restaurant to check in with the host, he turned around and walked away. As we stood there wondering what to do next someone came up and took us to our seat. She was not very polite at all. We sat down and received NO service for about 20 miinutes. Finally we had to flag someone down to ask for drinks. When he finally brought the drinks (15 mins later) they were the worst caipirinhas I've ever had. The bartender might as well have just given me rum and ice. To top it off, the meat selection was not large and it was not very good. I've been to other Brazilian steakhouses before and I seriously think the mgmt paid to have this place on the Travel Channel. The entertainment was ok but I would rather have great service than a live band. Wnen we finally got a server he really tried to salvage our night but in my book it was a total waste. The service was so bad I think we could have walked out with out paying and they would not have even known. We ended up paying anyway, tipped the guy (because it wasn't his fault, he wasn't even our server, he was the only one in the place who asked how we were). I would not recommend this place to anyone at all. If you want to spend the money, go to the store and grill your own meat. I will definitely NOT be visiting this place ever again. The funny thing is that there were people walking around (I think they were mgmt) and no one ever came to our table to ask if we needed anything, etc. That totally surprises me because I had the worst look on my face of complete disgust. I wish they had made us leave afer 2 hours. That would have been the best part of the night. Pros: Great ambience Cons: Terrible service, not a great selection of meats more

Loved the food so much, I'm planning a party there! 5/12/2008

I ate at Gauchos Village about a month ago and LOVED the food and the service. I liked it so much that I'm planning my graduation party there June 8 for about 50 people! I'm doing it on a Sunday and they've assured me that the 2-hour limit that others have complained about is not a problem on Sundays. Everyone I have dealt with has been nothing but nice and accommodating and I'm looking very forward to the event. I'll definitely be back to write about my experience, but so far so good!!! more

I loved this place. I went there a couple of weeks ago with friends and we had a blast! I lived in Rio de Janeiro for a while, so I can attest that the food is very authentic . I have been to other Brazilian Restaurants in California and Gauchos? is now one of my favorites. I love the fact that the people working there are from Brazil and they are warm and friendly. The food was delicious and the band played classic Brazilian songs ? plus there was a samba show with dancers in full carnival regalia! I recommend that you make a reservation because we had to wait about 15 min to be seated. Other than that it was great! Pros: Food, Ambience, Service more

Very disappointing, "2 hour limit?" 4/19/2008

BettyfromHollywood Provided by Partner
I was looking forward to having dinner at Gaucho's since I heard positive reviews, but I was extremely disappointed by our experience last night. Perhaps the restaurant is in decline. First of all, when I made the reservation and told them that it was my husband's birthday, they asked for my credit card number because they needed to "reserve it in the computer." I was reluctant to do this, but I figured that it was a safeguard since the reservation was for 9 people. When some of our party arrived at 6 pm, the waiter did not ask us for drinks for about 10 minutes, so we went to the bar and brought back drinks to the table. The waiter was clearly upset about this and became angry and defensive. The food was generally pretty good; the "gauchos" were swarming us and recommended that we take our time. Then, things went sour as soon as it was around 8 pm. Our waiter brought our check and told us that we had to leave since we were approaching our 2 hour limit for our stay. I was so shocked. No offer for dessert and coffee--the waiter just brought our check! It was appalling. When I spoke with the manager, she said that it had something to do with the computer and then asked me if the hostess, who made the reservation, informed me of their policy. My response was "no!" They tried to offer us a free round of drinks after we paid the bill and started to leave, and in a rude, patronizing way, they suggested that we have more drinks "on the house" outside in the tented area. It was so rude. I have never been rushed out of a restaurant (and our bill was over $400) like I was at Gaucho's; it was obnoxious. We were still buying drinks and were planning on spending more money. We didn't even get the chance to order dessert and sing "Happy Birthday" to my husband. We will never return to Gaucho's, and thus, I felt compelled to write this review. Don't go!!!!!!!!!!!!! more

Don't Want My Money? - Fine, I'll Spend it Somewhere Else!! 4/19/2008

I recently went to Gaucho's Village with a party of 10 (we made reservations) to celebrate a friends birthday. BIG MISTAKE. We ate dinner and were looking forward to having a few more drinks, then coffee and desert while we enjoyed the live entertainment. Just when I was about to ask the waiter for the desert menu, he handed me the check and said that we had reached the two hour time limit for our table. He said that we had to give up the table because other people had reservations. Meanwhile, the place was not crowded at all, and there was no one waiting to get in. There was no mention of a two hour time limit on tables when I made the reservations, nor does it say anything about this on their website. Had I known about the time limit, I never would have chosen this restaurant for my friends birthday celebration. The waiter said that if we wanted to order more from the menu, first we had to pay the check, then move to the bar, or go to the outside patio and start a new bill. I was completely flabbergasted! It wasn't like we were just sitting at the table and not ordering anything. We wanted to order more!! As it was, the check was around $500.00, but we were prepared to spend much more than that on on drinks and deserts. Unfortunately, Gaucho's Village never gave us the chance to do that. We were paying customers and we reserved a nice table by the stage so that we could have a great birthday celebration. They expected all of us to get up from the table and go sit outside?! I felt like we were being treated like dogs. To make a long story short, we payed the bill, left Gaucho's Village, and went to another establishment, where we spent our money for the rest of the night. I will never return to Gaucho's Village. more

Birthday Discount is Only Valid Actual Day of Birthday 4/18/2008

I recently started a new job in Glendale and had always wanted to try Brazillian Radizo style Currascaria, but there are none where I used to live. How convenient now that there is one located across the street from my office in Glendale. My boss took me there for lunch on Thursday, March, 20th and I was quite impressed with the atmoshpere and the sampling of meats. Being that it was a work day and I was with my boss, we were pressed for time I did not get to enjoy or sample everything. I was quite hooked though and immediately wanted to come back for Dinner withy my Family. My Birthday was comming up the following monday, March 24th. So I thought what a perfect opportunity to bring my family that weekend. I showed them the Gouchos Village website, where we learned that if you brought 4 guests the Birthday's persons meal would be complementary. Fantastic, I thought because I would be dining for free. We hopped in the car and drove 40 miles that Saturday to Gauchos Grill. Yes, I conveniently work across the street but don't close. When We got there, we were informed by Management that the Birthday Discount was only valid the "actual day of your birthday" and there was no lattitude of a few days. I am sorry but it is physically impossible to drag my family out 40 miles away on a Monday to have dinner to celebrate my Birthday, I am not cheap but, still I could not believe that management would inforce such a tight policy on the birthday offer. It kinda off really ticked me off though and left a poor taste in my mouth not for the food or atmosphere that i so much enjoyed just two days before. My boss had mentioned that there was also Pincanha's in Burbank and was superior in his opinion, so I called them up on my cell phone and they said that they had a simliar Birthday Discount but would honor it up to 7 days before/after your actual Birthday. I made a reservation and and we left Gauchos Village and made our way up to Picanhas. more

Worst Customer Service 3/5/2008

I went to Gaucho's with several friends from work because one of them had suggested the place! The atmosphere was fantastic and the decor was unique with costumes and clothes adorning the walls. BUT the management was absolutely RUDE and of no help. First of all, we had made reservations informing them the party consisted of 10 adults and two children. When we arrived, they rudely told us that we COULD NOT SIT TOGETHER. True, they do have to cut the meat and it is a very large knife, but we don't mind passing the meat down for the sake of sitting Together! Not only that, but the manner in which they handled our request to put table together was extremely HOSTILE and HARPING. Secondly, they brought over the child booster seat and , but left it in the middle of the walkway and in NO WAY attempted to assist our friend with his two babies and the arrangement of the seats. In the end they finally relented and let us sit together, but to top it off, the FOOD was MODERATE and the selection POOR. I've been to many brazilian restaurants and if you're going to pay $30 dollars, I would rather go to Greenfield's, where the meat selection is greater, the salad bar is bigger and medium parties are welcome! If you're going for atmosphere this is the place to go. It's classy. BUT if you LOVE FOOD and appreciate great customer service DON'T GO!!! Pros: Ambience Cons: Rude manager, not accomodating, meat sekection average more

Gaucho's Village Brazilian Churrascaria is a great time 11/3/2007

Virtually all of the information I?m about to share is posted repeatedly over voluminous reviews of this place, but since the last several seemed to be pretty negative and that?s all I saw at first (which almost prevented me from patronizing it), I thought I should clear things up. Gaucho's Village Brazilian Churrascaria is a great time. The restaurant is pretty vast; dozens of tables lined up under a pitched roof that looks like someone flipped Noah?s Ark. The stage is at the far end, near the salad bar. On the salad bar you will find standards like rice and beans and sweet glazed bananas (sooo good). Don?t assume after your first trip up that you?ve seen everything the bar has to offer; they switch things up a bit over the course of the evening. There is no food menu. Like a buffet, you pay one price (it was on $31.99 on the Saturday night we went and on Fridays, but lower during the week). For that you get the salad bar and regular visits from the gauchos who come bearing meat. The meat is varied and delicious and almost always perfectly cooked. This is NOT a perfect evening for a vegetarian! The gauchos are friendly and fun and actually seem disappointed when you don?t say yes to an offer. The entertainment is also really fun. There are two types during the night: the ?showgirls;? two Brazilian-built dancers in tiny glittering bikini costumes and huge feathered head things shake there most Brazilian feature almost impossibly to percussive Latin rhythms music and the band, an even more attractive young woman singer backed by a trio of bass, guitar and drums nailing the vibe on bossa nova tunes like ?Girl From Ipanema? (seriously, the whole repertoire sounds a bit like ?Girl From Ipanema?). They were really very good. So, to counter the previous entries, I want to make it clear that this is a truly fun place with a friendly attentive staff, delicious food and pleasing entertainment. Pros: The staff and the food Cons: The salad bar could have more vegetables, but I'm nit-picking more

My husband and I come here about twice a month. The service is excellent. Everyone is attentive to your needs. Friendly atmosphere, love the live music and dancers as well. The food is incredible. The meat is tender and juicy and packed full of flavor, like nothing I've ever had before. By far the best Brazilian food we have ever had and that says a lot considering how often we travel. Pros: Great food, service! Cons: None more

I was first introduced to Gaucho's a few years ago by coworkers while I worked in the Glendale area. I love steaks and the sort and actually fell in love with this place. I ended up bringing my wife here and we now come about 2-3 times a month. It is our favorite restaurant. My wife and I travel often and thus we eat out often. We've been to Fogo de Chao in Dallas and many other Brazilian restaurants, nothing compares to the lively atmosphere and the fresh yet flavorful food of Gaucho's. My wife particularly loves the cheese bread as do I. The flan is to die for too! Pros: Excellent food and service! Cons: NONE more

I've been here a few times and I love this place! The ambiance is fun and the staff really polite; it's a cool place for all kinds of events: group celebrations, first dates, cocktails. Dinner service is a bit hectic but there's a lot going on-the live entertainment-that you'd barely notice. Definitely make reservations and just go with a fun, positive attitude; don't let wait time discourage you because it's worth it in the end. The funny thing is I don't even eat meat and I still enjoy this place (they've got yummy side dishes)! I totally recommend this place. more
