Terrible experience at Gateway KIA was threatened to be arrested for trying to resolve an issue i was having with the car. All my phone calls were avoided and dismissed they are impossible to do any sort of honest business with. Stay away from Gateway Kia north Brunswick, very bad to do business with. They will lie to you about the price of the car and will scam you out of any deal. I was promised 1600 for my trade in and its already been 2 months and i still have not received my $1600. Please take your business elsewhere Gate way Kia North Brunswick Sucks!!1!! more

Overall my experience at KIA Brunswick was outstanding. from the service dept,sales and finance and the general manager. they made me feel welcome. Vito Grippo and Mark were very professional and always were warm and caring during my visits to their store. The entire staff were friendly and you can tell that they were proud to work for that company. Everyone that worked the floor greeted their customers with the outmost respect and put them at ease while talking to them. I will recommend this dealership to my friends and family. They truly believe in customer service and a family atmosphere Vito in the 4 months working with him to finally get a deal made became a friend to me.. Thanks to all more

Buying a new car can be stressful at best. However at Gateway Kia of New Brunswick, you can begin the process by going to their websit prior to your visit you can choose the salesperson that you wish to work with. I chose Tom Cavallino. I knew that I wanted a 2012 Sportage, so that decision was made in advance. Tom showed me all the Sportages that they had on the lot; I found one that I liked...now that hard part, THE DEAL...trading in a relatively newer SUV and the the bottom line price that I would have to pay for a new Sportage. The deal process of having to go back to the management with my offer and then coming back with their offer is not much different then any other car dealership. However, management did make a very good offer that I felt was very fair for my trade-in and the new Sportage, so I bougth it. While the paper work was being processed Tom took me to meet the sevice and parts staff. Tom called my insurance company, sinked my phone with the UVO system and I was on my way. It was a good experiance. more

This was our second dealing with Gateway Kia. Tom and Marc were very helpful in getting us into our new car. Even though we owed more on our trade in, they got us into a new car with a minimal down payment. I would recommend them 100%. Well, we weren't planning on purchasing a car that day. My husband said we would only be 2 hours. When we arrived, he told me to look for an Italian gentleman. Boy he was not kidding - Vito was awesome! After spending about 6 hours there, we finally decided to purchase the Kia Optima. We are very happy with our decision. I recently visited Gateway Kia of North Brunswick In hopes to find a new car and get a good deal. I had visited two other dealerships prior and no luck. I am not new to buying cars and this hands down was the best experience I have ever had. The staff there was so friendly, patient and catered to myself and my five year old daughter. I would most definitely recommend this dealership to any and everyone who's looking for a great car, great price and amazing service. Long story short I left Gateway Kia with my new 2012 Optima SX Turbo and I LOVE IT! more

I wanted to buy an Optima EX. I had a trade in that I owed more than its value was. Marc and Vito worked with me and were able to put me in a car I thought I could never get. The Optima Hybrid! They accepted my trade and paid it off and I walked out with a fully loaded Hybrid at close to what I wanted my payments to be. I will be back. I have already told a few friends who want to join the Kia club. My daughter has the Forte, she lives in Tenn. Thank you again Marc & Vito. more

Truly Amazing! 4/25/2012

I came in the dealership after having a terrible experience at competing dealership in the area that day. I needed to downgrade my truck but still have enough room for my 8 year old twins and another one on the way. Vito greeted me and my mother at the door, big difference from the competing dealership that left me and my mother to our own devices for 30 minutes to be exact. Right away he led us to the Soul. It was not on my radar, but after I really looked at it, I was in love! It fit all of my needs and Vito made it happen! Everyone at the dealership cheered me on and made me feel that not only was I making a great decision, I was simplifying my life and my wallet! Vito will forever be getting my business, he was truly amazing. more

WORST EXPERIENCE - HORRIBLE MNGT - STAY AWAY 4/20/2012

We were looking for a black optima EX with 2 packages and the dealer we first went to was having a hard time finding this car for us. The dealer although very nice did not sound very encouraging about the availability of the black ex we wanted. So...Through searching Kia's website under dealer inventory I found that Gateway Kia of North Brunswick had the exact car we wanted. Before traveling out to New Jersey from Staten Island (we live right by the Verrazano Bridge) I wanted to make sure Gateway had the car and would give us the same deal as the 1st dealer offered us. Spoke to a very pleasant salesman, Chris Ramos, who confirmed they had the car and assured me they would honor the price quote we got from the first dealer. I let him know up front that we had to turn in our leased vehicle before taking possession of the new car since we would be transfering the plates/registration.I clearly let him know we needed about a week. He told me no problem. I wanted to give a deposit over the phone but was told they do not do that, I would have to come in. So, my husband and I, after working all day on Thursday took the trip out to New Jersey. We met Chris, who again was nice enough and he showed us the car and confirmed the price and let us know the financing options since we were not sure if we were to finance or pay cash for the car. We then wanted to leave a deposit, figure out payment and come back to purchase and pick up the car a week from Monday after our leased car was turned in the following Saturday. That's when the sale took a turn for the worst and became the most uncomfortable situation. The sales managers (names may be Mark Cola and Tom Burrows) two of the most pushy, abnoxious, dishonest car salesmen we have ever encountered, came into the sale. We were told quite rudely they do not take deposits and we need to take this car tonight, they need to get it out of their dealership, they went on and on about them not wanting to pay another cent of interest on this car, we have to take it tonight. They were very abrasive, aggressive and really giving us a hard sell making it a very stressful and uncomfortable for us. Furthermore, they told us we could not transfer our plates from our leased car which was an out in out LIE! They also tacked on $705.00 in additonal fees, one being the registration at $311.00. New York car registration is only $135.00. Were they out right ripping me off for almost $200.00. They kept forcing the issue about us taking the car that night when I had told the sales person up front, that we could not take the for a week. They just kept pressuring us to take the car that night. We were just not prepared to take the car that night and they did not want to here that.They even told us they would let us charge $5000.00 and take the car and then bring them a personal check for the balance. Very odd sales tactics. Gateway Kia dealership is the worst form of bad customer service I have ever seen. Tey were like vulltures attacking their prey! THEY WERE PUSHY, DECEITFUL, DIRESPECTFUL, RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL.. DO NOT PURCHASE A CAR FROM THEM - GO ANY PLACE ELSE!!! Their horrible service, dishonesty and extreme hard sell tactics lost them a sale. To Chris the salesman that I originally spoke with - you seemed like a nice guy - how can you work for these vultures? Go work for a more respectful dealership. more

How do I feel about my purchase experience at Gateway Kia of New Brunswick? Awful, betrayed, second-class citizen, scammed, disgusted, hurt, regretful, sad, angry, threatened and sorry for the boss and his associates involved in this process. It was Saturday 4/7/12. My wife and I were looking to purchase a car to replace our Honda Civic Hybrid. Before coming to Gateway Kia we had checked out the Ford and Subaru dealerships but couldn’t find what we liked. On our way back home we saw Kia on Rt 1 North and tried 3 times to get to the dealership. We’d never had a Korean-made car, so since my family name, Chang, is also Korean we decided to give it a shot. We were greeted by a friendly salesman, Florel. When we decided on the model of the car we wanted, the Kia Soul, he told us that he was going to speak to his boss and try to get us the $5,000 discount when he went back in for the key; then, he took us for a test drive. When we came back and sat down to look at the numbers, Florel gave us the idea that we were getting the $5,000 discount on the car. He said that the reason why the remote start was removed from the deal was because I was getting the $5,000 discount off the sticker price. In addition to removal of the remote start, the destination charge of $750 was to be added due to the discount. He added a set of wheel locks to the deal. Later in the day of purchase 4/7/12, Sal, the finance manager, called my wife and me into his office for signing of papers. It was late and getting dark with most of the dealership’s lights turned off. As he was going over the numbers speedily everyone seemed anxious to get home and I was in the mixed mood of excitement and fatigue, I signed the papers blindsightedly where the ‘x’ marks were shown, trusting that Gateway Kia would not disappoint me by falsifying the numbers. In the middle of signing, outside of Sal’s office Florel (my salesman) hurried me up because he got Geico on the line waiting for me to start a new insurance policy. My concentration was split up during this hectic final process. After reviewing the papers I had signed over the weekend, I was shocked. On 4/10/12 I spoke to the boss, Nick. Basically, he just lectured me about the fact that my name and signature were on the Bill of Sale, I was legally bound to follow through with the sale. My wife showed up later on that day too depressed by this whole situation to come into the dealership; she was sobbing profusely and regretfully inside the car. Even though my wife and I try to cover up our awful and hurtful feelings about our experience at Gateway by not talking about it, those hurtful feelings still haunt our thoughts and emotions every time we enter that car, pass by the dealership on Rt 1 and someone mentions about our Kia Soul. My wife and I have two high school children living with us; after sharing our experience at Gateway Kia with them the older one asked us, Is it even ethical what they did to us? Gateway Kia has legal grounds to hold me legally liable for paying for the vehicle according to what the Bill of Sale states. To that end, as a responsible citizen, I am required to fulfill my duty as the consequence of the trust that I had in the dealership. Kia Gateway has successfully earned my business through betrayal and tactic team effort by its boss and associates. For the latter I give the dealership a rating of 10 (ten). For ethical integrity and customer satisfaction, 0 (zero). I am fully aware that legal proceedings in this case can no longer be effective to me in any way; Gateway Kia has successfully managed to make me lose my legal protection. Nevertheless, I still have the right to appeal to the public to get a poll of their opinion on this matter through the media. Truthfully and Sorrowfully Yours, Peter Chang more

Excellent sales staff! 4/13/2012

I bought a 2012 Kia Optima SX! Vito Grippo was an excellent salesman! He took me for an excellent test drive and explained to me all the features of the car. Then, we sat to talk about numbers with Mark Cola (excellent person!) and we came out with an excellent monthly payment. They were very nice people and excellent customer service! I already talked to some of my friends and referred them to Kia. I want to thank all the staff at Kia Brunswick for the excellent attention. Also, thank Mr. Vito he’s an excellent salesman and a nice person. I will buy from Kia again. Congratulations for such a nice job! more

This place is the worst kind of joke. 12/12/2011

First of all, the review written by ""Smartone"" is someone working there, you can find the exact same review all over the web...Consumers don't go to several websites to post something positive...they will only do this when they had a negative experience--also people don't Bold the font every time the name of the dealership is mentioned...way to go Kia Customer service. ANYWAY, my boyfriend and I had a TERRIBLE experience at this dealer...We went over the weekend to try to find him a new car. We walked in there letting them know, his credit score was low, he had X amount of dollars to put down, and X amount of dollars to spend every month. After going back and forth for a while...we settled at $50 more a month, which was him being flexible. The paperwork was printed, and the contracts were signed when we left..the accountant who assured us ""He was extremely good at his job"" said it would be a go on Monday. My boyfriend went to trade in his vechicle (which was crap..but we also told them that RIGHT off the bat)...When he was called into the office...all of a sudden the deal was changed and $100 more a month. They used several sales tactics to get him to pay more...claiming the bank didn't approve the loan...etc. After a lot of back and forth, they still said they couldn't give the deal that was signed for and promised. They also tried getting him in a different car. They wasted 12+ hours of our time over a 2 day span...definitely a sales tactic to wear you down until you are so frustrated, you are willing to sign anything. Absolutely disgusting business practices and customer service. This place definitely lives up to the stereotypical car dealership experience. I guess if your credit is good, it would be just like any other place. But they assume since you have bad credit, you don't have options. We walked....leaving them with zero dollars ""to feed their families"" (yes, that line was actually used)...and hopefully an Ego reality check...Place sucks.\r more

Hate dealers and sales people 11/26/2011

I purchased a Kia from Gateway Kia of North Brunswick. I enjoy my Kia Forte. The sale's person had me fill out a survey of their service to me before I signed any papers for my new car. What's up with that? I would have not giving them a good rating simply for the amount of time they made me wait around for. I had all intentions to go to other dealers but that did not happen. I was there from 12:15pm - 5:30pm. We had reached a deal in approximately 2 hours or so. They had me wait around all day until 5:30pm before I went inside to sign the paper work, while my sales person was out selling cars to other customers. I came close of walking and telling them to forget the deal. I want back my survey so I can tell them what I really feel about their service. I will never buy another car from this deal and do not recommend them to anyone. They blow any feature business with me or me referring anyone to them. I would not buy from them because of poor service and making people wait around wasting their day. more

THE ONLY PLACE TO BUY A KIA ! ! ! ! 10/4/2011

I had purchased a new Kia from Gateway Kia of North Brunswick. I just wanted to take the opportunity to express both mine and my husband's gratitude for the friendliest and most professional manner your dealership extended to us. I have to admit that purchasing a car at Gateway Kia of North Brunswick with sales professionals such as yours was one of the most gratifying experiences I have had. Our salesperson took his time with us and was patient - to be sure we got the right car for our needs. The finance department was a pleasure to deal with as well. We never felt pressured. He took us through the financial contract and extended warranty portion, which we also purchased, with expert care and professionalism. I can honestly say that although we live a little over an hours drive away, we would not hesitate to return to Gateway Kia of North Brunswick to purchase another vechile in the future. Thank you for a wonderful deal and experience. more
