Editorial review from Citysearch 6/14/2014

The doctors and nurse in general are a great group of people, however I am taking the time out to say that a new procedure needs to be implemented in the front with checkins and pickups because I as well as 5 or 6 other people waited for over 4.5 hours to be seen and were skipped in line. One of these days someone is going to snap. Please. Find a new procedure. Just for this I rate you guys a 1 out of 5. One is yelling that a room is open and another yells that its not. Come on. Seriously!? more

Not a professional environment.... 5/9/2012

I bring my dog to Richmond Vet normally and I wish I would have for this as well. I had an appointment to get my puppy spayed. I heard great things about Fox Lake Vet, the doctors and the price. I chose there because it was less to spay her. I had an appointment for 9am and everything went fine with dropping her off. I asked what time I could call to check on her and they told me 5pm. At 5:30 when I called she was just getting her surgery and she could not come home until the next day at 10am. Which bothered me that she had to sit in a cage all day. I picked her up and she was fine and healed well over two weeks. I brought her 2 weeks later to get her stitches out. I only waited a few minutes and thank god because there were at least 15 dogs in the waiting room. Here is where I have a HUGE problem. They brought me into a room, NOT an exam room and I asked what they wanted me to do with her.....they had me lay on the filthy floor and hold her down while he cut her stitches out. There was another dog in the room as well. I was not happy at all they had my dog who had a surgery lay on the disgusting floor as they used scissors that I am almost certain were not washed. We will never be going back. I do think they treated her well and they seemed to all love her and she did as well, but I would rather pay twice as much..... more

Worth Trying 2/6/2012

We have been going to Fox Lake Animal Hospital for almost 10 years. While the wait can be long and discouraging sometimes we've always felt it was worth it.\r We ended up here after hearing of their reasonable prices because we just couldn't afford other vets any more and it was discoraging to feel how we could take care of our dog.\r My longest wait (2.5hrs) happened when I took our sick 12 year old Cocker in. We had a clue it was "that time". We had to leave him over night which was a hard to do since he had never had to stay over night in a crate but he was dehydrated. When the Doc called in the morning he was aweseome - he told us his kidneys were working at 8%. He said we could treat him and he'd OK for a few months or we could let him go but it was terminal either way. The thing that meant so much to me was he said "What ever decision you make is OK, neither is wrong and we'll support and help you handle whatever decision you make". We had already decided years before that we w more

EXCELLENT CARE AT A DECENT PRICE 1/3/2012

I had to add my review after I saw a couple of negative comments listed below. We have been going to FLAH for 8 years now and will not go anywhere else. Our very large dog Merlin had terrible problems when he was a puppy and the vet we had been seeing was grasping at straws as to what was wrong with him. They finally suggested allergy testing to the tune of $1800. I had mentioned this to a friend who said ?you need to take him to Fox Lake?. We went at our next available time and brought all of our records from the other vet. In ONE appointment it was determined that Merlin?s problems were allergies and had complete allergy testing done for $300. In one week we had a list of the things he was allergic to (everything we had been feeding him) and were armed with new food and supplies to help clear up his sores. \r \r We started to take our cat here as well and her life was saved after finding a ?bladder stone? that no one else seemed to be able to find (suggestion from oth more

Above and beyond my expectations 12/19/2011

First come first serve? Worth the wait! I have had some rough times with my dogs over the last year or so (one had pancreatitis, the other cancer) and cannot express my gratitude for the professionalism and kind heartedness Dr. Koya and Jessica (tech) displayed to both me and my four-legged children. I've been to other places in the past and cannot help but feel bothered when they try to sell me an array of products and charge an arm and leg for basic services, ultimately making a trip to the vet intimidating and stressful. That does not happen at the Fox Lake Animal Hospital. No sales pitches to try to guilt you into buying products and the prices for their services are fair. I am unlikely to change vets ever again and am grateful to have found the team at Fox Lake Animal Hospital. more

great hospital 12/2/2011

We just got back from Fox lake animal hospital. We had never been there before, but had heard so many good things about it from clients of mine. Went online and read some stellar reviews. \r Our 21(+) yr old cat Max had not been doing so well for the last 48 hrs. We knew the time was coming for him to go to the "Rainbow bridge". \r We called FLAH and they were very helpful. We didn't have any wait at all. They took us into a room, explained what was about to happen, allowed us to remain with max while he transitioned, and gave us our privacy while we mourned the loss of a lifelong dear friend.\r Very reasonably priced. very professional and courteous.\r I will highly recommend FLAH to anyone who has a pet! more

Will come back 11/10/2011

I was refered to this place by a friend. First time visit. After reading the reviews here, I planned on visiting early the next day. Gave them a call to ask what time people start to get there and the lady says they are not real busy right now and might be a good time to come in (approx. 3:30 pm). Boy, was she right! Got there about 3:50 and there was not one person in front of me. Dr. Nora treated my cat. She was professional, caring and kind. Was out of there in about 25 minutes. Consultation, ingrown nail cut back and removed from arm, antibiotics = $42.00.\r I you want an animal hospital that is all fancy and new, this is not the place for you. But if you want quality care at a very reasonable price, this is the place. more

The only vet for me! 10/1/2011

I have been taking our pets (dogs, ferretts, birds,) to FLAH for almost 15 years and will go no where else for my pets health needs. The doctors are caring and very knowledgeable, as well as terribly compassionate! When my little dog recently had a massive infection they were quick to comfort him, as well as myself! While my little guy needed to be sedated before he could be treated, they were awesome about explaining to me why it was best for him to undergo the sedation which allowed more through examination and treatment. This all took place right at closing hours and they were all very patient and stayed well beyond closing time in order to accomodate my pet's needs. I left with confidence and a much happier pet! My total cost... $68 and that included the take home meds and anethesia! more

Great vet, great practice, great staff, great prices 9/1/2011

I took my cocker spaniel there for what I thought would be surgery to remove a growth on her eye, diagnosed by oher vets. At another clinic this would be a several thousand dollar surgery so I tried Fox Lake because I was told by friends that they were reasonable. more

WORST ANIMAL HOSPITAL 6/20/2011

User Rating: 1 out of 5 stars \r by Lisa 06/20/2011 \r When I looked up Fox Lake Animal Hospital I saw all these great reviews. I called to see how much a surgery would be for my dog and all I have to say is I hope the doctors and other staff members are nicer than the people who answer the phones and give surgery estimates because right now I am not like this hospital at all. Not a very good first impression to say the least!!!! I will now add a PS. to this review since I just got off the phone again with them. These people are the most insenstive, thoughtless and rude people I have ever dealt with. They are so matter of fact and if you can't bring your dog in to consult with the doctor in the 3 days he has available during hours that MOST people have to work, oh well!! I don't care HOW much LESS they are then my vet now, I would NEVER bring my dog to this place!!! To whoever reads this do yourself a favor and find another animal hospital that has a personality and feelings!!! more

Best Vet Ever! 5/29/2011

This clinic is fantastic. Dr. Rudowski really thinks outside the box. He is wonderful! I wish he would give a class to the other vets around. I took my cat in after other vets said it would cost $2500. to do surgery to fix his ankle, or cut off the leg. Dr. R put the ankle back into place and taped the leg real good so it couldn't move. 9 weeks wait, and I am sure the results would be just as good as surgery would have been. $200. was the cost. Absolutely wonderful Dr and staff. They are extremely caring! The only problem I have was the wait. But the wait was worth it!!! more

Amazing Vet 1/3/2011

After reading the reviews I was a bit skeptical of going here... but I will NEVER go anywhere else again. There is a long wait (usually 2 hours or so) but there is a reason for the wait. It's because this vet is phenomenal and they will take the time with each animal and love it like it's their own. Dr Morgan is amazing and the whole staff was great. The prices are also just as amazing as the rest of the experience (minus the wait)! I definitley would recomend this place to everybody. more

Outstanding Veteranarians! 11/18/2010

Our dog was diagnosed with ACL tear at a Bamfield Hospital ( inside Petsmart) during a four hour ordeal costing 400.00 plus dollars. We then had our x-rays read by several potential surgeons. The cost of repair surgery began at 3,000.00 and we were told there was a good chance of one stiffle surgery following the next.\r A friend recommended Fox Lake Animal Hospital and we made the 45 min drive to the clinic. The surgeon, who does these repairs routinly for around 1,200. was in surgery and we gladly waited. What a kind knowledgable Vet. He diagnosed our dog with Degenerative neuropathy, told us what to expect, gave us meds and wished he could have helped him ( with surgery) Just a month latter with no pain our dog weakened to the point of returning for euthanasia. Everyone was sensitive and loving . The cost was 125.00 for creamation of a 120lb. animal. I can't thank these folks enough. They are true healers in ALL ways. more

2hrs away worth the trip! 9/14/2010

I drove 2 and a half hour and $35.00 in gas with a very sick Gerbil named Hamburger to the best Veterinarian Hospital on the planet. The front desk staff, Dr. Koya and even the other pet moms and dads were wonderful. It's a wonderful and comforting place to know that although you're so emotionally attached to your pet that they won't take advantage of you with prices. Although my Gerbil died I really want everyone to know it was worth the trip and gas to be treated so well. more

Lions and Tigers and Bears ... Love this place! 9/7/2010

Great staff, great prices, very caring doctors!!! highly recommend this location ... but just be sure to plan for a long wait as it is first come first serve. (go early before they open and get in line on a weekday.) more

Jill 9/3/2010

Itis completely rediculous to have to wait like cattle to get in to a a "professional" vet??? I have tryed to take my pets to the Fox Lake Animal Hospital to support my community, but everytime I have to wait TWO HOURS in the ridiciculouly weird waiting room, I vow to never to return. more

A fabulous business model! Reasonable animal health care, finally! 8/20/2010

I took one of my dogs to FLAH this past week for shots and to check her back at the recommendation of a few co-workers that take their animals there. I am SO glad I went and made the drive from Kenosha. I waited 3 hours to be seen, however I was ok with that as I had been told this was the case. I have to tell you that my dog once seen was treated very nicely and thoroughly. I got updated shots, heartworm test, nails cut and some pain meds for my animals back for $107.10! This type of visit would have run my at least $200 or more at my normal vet. I will continue to come back here and gladly sign in and wait my turn. Fabulous business and a great business model! more

17 years and Still Satisfied 6/24/2010

I've been taking my animals to Fox Lake Animal Clinic/Hospital for over 17 years. Yes, that means several dogs and cats. Dr Bo has handpicked the best staff in the world, and the fact that they don't do appointments is a non-issue. How ticked off are you when you HAVE an appointment and have to sit for an hour? I've learned to plan our vet visits, and even in emergencies, if you are a regular patient, there are always rules to bend. BE REASONABLE. My last two dogs died of strange and complicated diseases, and Dr Bo and Dr Marie worked together to diagnose and help treat them both, while at the same time, being careful not to bankrupt me. The first dog had to be euthanized, and Dr Bo did it himself and stayed with me the entire time. So compassionate. My last dog died at home, but we weren't sure just what killed her (I didn't have the money or the heart to open her up just to see what it was). They were able to tell me after death, that she'd died of stomach cancer. Again, Dr Bo ta more
