Ok, my family and have been going here for the last 3 years for special occasions, so about 4 times a year. So since it is sort of an expensive place we obviously like it. However, I just had a birthday dinner there with a party of 9. The steaks no quite has good as normal and my son had a spoiled lobster, that he sent back. They removed it from the check, however they offered nothing to replace it. I spend nearly 700.00 and walked away thinking what has happened to by restaurant. I'll give it one more chance. But it better do some improving or we will be driving to Dallas more

Mediocre food at best. Not worth the money spent. 1/4/2011

We went on New Years Eve thinking that would be a good night. I'll start by saying that the service was great, but great service doesn't make up for very, very mediocre food. I could have gone to Denny's and had better food. The ceasar salad was very fishy tastin with tons of dressing and I couldn't finish it. The filet special was so small I had a hard time keeping from laughing when they brought it out to my daughter. The catfish, which was terrific in the past was just very ordinary, bland almost. The green beans were very good. The asparagus was awful and potato wedges looked and tasted worse than Walmarts. I spent $100 for 3 of us and was very, very dissappointed. I've been there numerous occasions over the last several years and each time the food has gotten worse. I don't believe I'll ever go back as there are numerous places, Dallas included, that do serve good food thats worth paying for. Save your gas and time and stay in Dallas to eat.\r \r more

FOUR WINDS STEAKHOUSE 11/19/2010

We drive in from Dallas to meet friends from Cedar Creek about 3 times a year . We absolutely love the service, food, atmosphere. It never disappoints us. We have Renna, our waitress, everytime and she takes great care of us.Do make reservations because it does get crowded. It may be East Texas best kept secret. We are just glad that we are in the know. more

Excellent cuisine! 1/18/2009

Our table had the sugar cured pork chops, ribeye, chicken fried steak, filet mignon and NY strip. All were cooked to our specifications and tasted divine. Get the peppercorn sauce! We also enjoyed the onion rings and onion/tomato/mozzarella salad. The cheese is made on-site and was very mild. LOVED the mashed potatoes. They are a garlic & roasted tomato flavor - so good! We made reservations and appreciated the fact that we were not rushed. Our tea glasses were kept full as were our bread/butter baskets. True signs of attentive wait staff!\r \r Con: might be difficult to find after dark - but well worth it! Pros: atmosphere more

Best Steak in East Texas 1/10/2009

Great Meal 8/8/2008

Great Meal. We drove from Dallas last night and had an incredible meal. From the time we drove onto the ranch, to the last sip of the root beer float, everything was perfect. It is well worth the drive. I recommend making a reservation, as it was 8:00 on a Thursday night and the restaurant was full. We eat out 5 nights a week and this was the best steak I've eaten in a long time. Our waitress Bonnie and her helper, were incredible. Not only did they make greaat recommendations, but there wasn't a time when my tea glass was empty or the bread basket not full. My favorite part, other than the food, was the service. Total class. No big serving tray, no waitress with 7 plates down her arms, they use multiple servers, all carrying one or two entrees to serve everyone at the same time. That's class. We are already lining up a sitter so we can go back next week. P.S. I read the reviews before we went and the hostess was very nice to us. Pros: Great Steaks, Great Service, Great Atmosphere more

Great food, great location, lacks a few details 7/15/2008

We made our first trip to Four Winds with another couple who had been there few times. Since we usually dine in Dallas at small, non chain restaurants, we were really looking forward to this new spot.\r \r What a great location! Right in the middle of a ranch with a view of the lake out one window and roaming cattle out the other. We were greeted by an all too friendly hostess that obviously had a few drinks prior to our 7:30 reservation. Although she was nice, it was very unprofessional for a restaurant that is trying to set a high end image for itself. She ushered us to their cozy bar with their friendly bar staff. The wine list was adequate and had the usual markup. Ordering some red wine our first problem was two-fold. The wine was served in something resembling a goblet and it was very warm. Hot actually. I'm sure that a place of this stature can afford a wine chiller and a few dozen decent wine glasses. They don't need to be Riedel's, just a properly shaped, leaded wine glass with a nice stem. The ones we were offered were heavy, thick , and resembled something from Garden Ridge.\r \r After being seated at our table we were greeted by a friendly waitress and shown the menu. Appetizers and salads were all excellent. The group ordered different cuts of steak and all were prepared perfectly, although heavily seasoned. I would like to see some sort of side items offered with the entress instead of a la carte and charged seperately. \r \r Prices were moderate and we plan to go again. This place is great! However, if we are served warm wine in a cheap glasses we'll send it back and order something else. I understand we're in east Texas and the available talent pool may be a bit different than Dallas. But I hope to be received by someone friendly and not under the influence and have my wine at the proper temperature in a proper glass. Pros: Ambience, price, service Cons: Missing the small details. Wine temp and proper glasses more

Incredible service and food! 7/14/2008

We arrived in Wills Point to visit a friend and her family. There were 4 adults and one two year old. We were very hungry and wanted a nice steak and our friend told us about Four Winds. My friend's family are Cattle Ranchers in the area and recommended this place! I guess I don't really need to say more, but I will :)\r \r \r We arrived on Friday night at 7:00 pm without a reservation. The hostess was sooo very friendly and accomodating. We are sure we put her and the staff to trouble to accomodate us all, but they were so gracious and told us not to worry, with just a short wait, they would make sure we had a table (I would always go w/ a reservation from now on but REALLY appreciate their efforts!).\r \r \r We had drinks in the bar and were seated promptly at a lovely table. The server, hostess, greeter, etc. just could not have been nicer and more accomodating. They made my little son feel welcome and made sure he had what he needed. I really wish I had made sure to remember names, but one lady in particular (longer hair, big smile) kept coming around to make sure the ""little boy with the long eyelashes"" was eating and had everything he needed. I just found that service to be EXCEPTIONAL. It made for such a pleasant night for us. \r \r \r The food was top notch. The steaks were incredible! The Chef out-did himself! We will be back!! \r \r \r Thank you so much for the wonderful experience and the hospitality. We sure felt welcomed and have found a place we will travel to from Plano without hesitation!!\r \r \r Jeanne and Friends! Pros: Service, flavor and freshness of food Cons: Not a thing! more

Amazing Food, But The Rudest Hostess/Reservation Hostess In The World 5/17/2008

We usually go to Four Winds Steakhouse at least every other month, we travel from the Dallas area (about a 120 mile rond trip) to dine there because the food is excellent, the atmosphere is relaxing, and Chef Frank is one of the best in Texas. The New Orleans BBQ Shrimp, steaks, and salads are some the the best around. HOWEVER-the young hostess/reservation hostess is prehaps the most unfriendly, rudest, least customer service driven person I have ever encountered at a fine dining location. My husband and I arrived 15 minutes prior to our reservation, she informed us we would have to wait, she could not seat us. We went to the bar and over 50% of the tables in the dining room were free-no one was seated during the next 10 minutes. Five minutes prior to our original reservation time, I asked her since so many tables were available, is there any way we could be seated. She literally huffed at me, had to say to me that this was making her job difficult and she had to get off the personal phone call she was one (apears she was chatting on the business line with a friend), and had the snottiest attitude and shoved us into a side to side booth the the back of the dining room. This person is maybe 20 years-old; one would think that she would have learned any sense of manners or graciousness. This ruined our whole dining experience for the night. I hope Chef Frank will soon replace this person or at least give her some training in customer service or trust me, no one will be driving 120 miles to dine there again. Pros: Amazing Food Cons: Horrible, Rude Hostess/Reservation Hostess more

Excellent Steaks, Good atomsphere, and great service. 2/19/2008

Being raised on a cattle ranch in Texas, I learned to appreciate a good steak early in life. After eating at numerous steakhouses throughout Texas and the surronding states, I will have to say this one is the best. I bring all my family members here for special occassions. I love bringing people here who have never been here. I have yet to find someone who doesn't walk away without making plans to return. Well worth the drive to enjoy the atomsphere, service, and of course the food. more

My Wedding! 2/7/2008

My husband and I got married there in September! It was everything and more that I wanted! Wonderful staff, great drinks, and great atmosphere! more

Best in the West, opps thats East 1/3/2008

The food, the service and the atmosphere is well worth the drive. Everything is First Class, in a upscale rustic setting. Great views so dine eary in the winter months. Be sure to get reservations. This little treasure is well on its way to becoming a destination from all over not just us East siders. Frank is a great Chef his steaks melt in your mouth and his lovely wife makes you feel very special. We had our company party there during their first few months in business and it was perfect. This is one restaurant you don't want to miss. Best food anywhere, I use to live in Dallas and it's right up there with those at the top! I think even better! I Was very disappointed when they were full up all through the Christmas & New years holidays. So make your reservations early and get going to Four Winds. Tell them the Dearmans sent you. Won't get you in if they are booked but hey, its worth a try. more

Not your average steak house 7/11/2006

My wife and I went there for our anniversary. We were smart enough to call ahead and make reservations. The place was packed, seating was on-time. There were people eating that evening from as far as 100 miles away. East Texas is growing much faster than I would like to see it. But it has been in need for a good hi-end restaurant for those that commute from Dallas to east Texas daily. This is the place to go eat some of the best steaks and fish. Im looking forward to eating their again soon. An hope to try everything on the menu they have. Save room for desert. The bread pudding is better than what you can get in New Orleans. Sides are served family style. And those of you that dont know the difference between a Chef and a Cook you will know the difference when you taste the food. Pros: Parking, Service, view's all perfect. I could not find anything I did not like Cons: Driving back home stuffed !! more

Exceptional Food on a Real Working Ranch! 3/29/2006

The food was outstanding. Chef Rumore is definitely exceptional at preparing a steak. I did not need a knife, and the flavor was unbelievable. I don't even think that I will order a steak anywhere else. The ranch experience was unique and relaxing. I would highly recommend Four Winds Steakhouse to anyone. Pros: Great Parking, Exceptional Food, Real Working Ranch more
