Empire Rent A Car

We needed a van with a longer bed than standard rental van, and Empire offers them. We were quite surprised to see how much less we would be paying than had we gone with U-Haul or a car rental company. In addition to generous mileage allowances, Empire's rates for additional miles are ridiculously low. The people at the Bayside branch were particularly helpful in switching us from the commercial van we had reserved to a van with passenger plates so that we could travel on NY Parkways, the best way to get where we were going. more

I was producing an event that called for 4 black cargo 15-passenger vans- let me tell you how hard it is to find those in NYC! But Empire had them and also provided a hands-on and personal experience. There's nothing better than finding great customer service with a car rental company- very rare these days. Ian was awesome and even checked up with a phone call after my event to make sure everything went well. The entire process was smooth and simple. I highly recommend Empire. more

Basically rent a van and I thought I was getting a deal for renting at the very minutes as my usual rental place accidentally overbooked. I was promised unlimited milage regardless where I went. When I returned the car they refuse to return my $150 deposit and charged me an additional $250 stating that I exceed the miles on the unlimited milage. Does this make sense to anyone? Me neither. When I called to confront them I got an extremely rude offensive person who likes to threaten people to take them to court, add more charges and loves using the "F" word like it's associated with breathing. Never again. RESPONSE FROM Empire Rent A Car: Thank you for the feedback. I would like to apologize for any inconvenience that this situation has caused you. We at Empire Rent-A- Car work hard to uphold a fair and reasonable business for our customers. We set our pricing for unlimited mileage based on where the customer tells us they are traveling. There is not one flat price to travel to any location. We spoke to you on the phone about a 7-day package on a roundtrip minivan rental to Syracuse, NY. Syracuse is a 250 mile trip from our location, so we set your unlimited mileage pricing based on that destination in the rental contract. When you returned the rental to us, you informed us that you had traveled to Florida instead of Syracuse. Your mileage totaled 2,650, which is a great deal more than the 250 mile trip to Syracuse, NY. Our contract reads that all charges are subject to a final audit. We did not return your $150 deposit, because by traveling outside of the agreed destination, you did not uphold the contractual agreement. Due to this breach of contract, we charged you an additional $250, which, added to your original total, is the unlimited mileage pricing for a drive to Florida. We informed you of the reasoning behind this charge when you followed up with us 2 weeks after you inquired about the deposit that was not refunded. With over 40 years of experience in the rental business, we try to keep our business customer-focused. We are pleased to know that our rental got you to and from your destination safely. I rented a large enclosed trailer. It was ready when I arrived and they hooked it up without any modifications to my truck's hitch or plug ins. Got the job done in half the time and actually saved a day. I had looked at renting a UHaul closer to home but it would have required me to purchase a smaller hitch ball and different connector wires AND no guarantee that the trailer would have been available. I had the pleasure of renting a 15 passenger van from Empire Rent A Car for May 16, 2014. This was the second time, I rented from this company and I must say, I was exceptionally pleased with the service. Gloria was so kind, patient, understanding and so professional. She listened to my concerns and was able to provide me with a great deal for my rental. In this day and age, great customer service is everything and Gloria has exemplified that. She is an outstanding worker and I look forward to working with her again in the near future. It was was my daughter's birthday and she asked me if I could take her and her friends out on the town. I needed a minivan but no one would rent me one for a day because it was Memorial Day weekend and they only rented out for the whole holiday weekend. Luckily I found Empire. Linda went out of her way to make sure I had the minivan for my daughter's birthday. When I went to pick up the minivan at the Brooklyn location it was brand new (1,200 miles) and the service from Beverley was outstanding. Thank you Linda, Beverley and Empire. I am all about customer service/and quality of product!!! I was a little disappointed with a few dents and scratches on the car an the interior fabric was black which looks unpleasant with white spots, however, the car drove smooth. I had the pleasure of dealing with Beverly in the Brooklyn office, Gloria(not sure what office), Ray from the Bronx location, and I have to say, they where extremely pleasant. Based on my experience with the employees I would use this rental car company again, I probably would be a bit more specific on car details. I would also recommend them. more

Had a reservation with Enterprise for a mini van. Got there and no van. Looked online and found Empire. Called up and said to come right over. Got a brand new van with 50 miles on it. A+ more

Empire RAC in flushing NY, saved our 2014 vacation, when in the last minute, (Budget didn't have the van we reserved three weeks in advance) Rob and his team got us into a brand new 12 passenger van, quickly and professionally.
