I was nervous and afraid...but the staff provided such clarity and support i was relaxed and calm. To say the staff especially the docter, is ""patient"" would be an understatement. I was surprised by the ease of the procedure and how quick it is. There was almost no pain, some mild crumping. It is easy to schedule the appointment as per one's convinience and once one is in the office, one already feels relaxed. Very higienic and relaxing atmosphere. I told a few of my friends about this procedure and they were so amazed that such an option is offered. They wished they had known about it when they had their own very tough choices to make. The staff was very caring, answered all questions, very private and I could go on. The office is very comforting. This is an amazing, quick procedure, infact I had it done five minutes ago and I am writing right now because I feel it's necessary for other women to know about this option. 1 of 3\r \r Two weeks ago my 17 year old told me that she was pregnant. It was her first time, it was also her first kiss. The rest of the story is quite sad too it left me feeling that she really was lacking a lot of information that would be important for her not to make a future repeat mistake. I kept that in mind but at the moment I took her lead in the decision to have an abortion. I wanted to be supportive in order to keep communication lines open but at the same time I was in shock because if you knew my daughter it is something that was not expected. We decided to keep it a secret between mother and daughter. It was quite difficult as I was my daughter's support but I had none of my own as I chose not to tell my husband. I spent the rest of that week in a daze and thinking that it was a bad dream. The last thing that I needed was the horrific treatment that we received at planned parenthood in NYC. My daughter had found out about the abortion pill and we decided that it would have to be the option to take. We researched it a bit. On purpose I avoided searching the internet for anything negative on this method. But on the night before our appointment at planned parenthood I did look. What I found left me very nervous. My daughter has had a history of reactions and I was afraid that she would have a reaction to the pills and since she's always had menstruation problems I was afraid that she would turn out to be like the worse bleeding cases that there ever was. I decided that I would keep my appointment but that I would ask some questions before making up our minds and although I didn't know what yet I was hopeful in finding out an alternative should we decide that we would not go with the pill method. I knew that they also perform surgical abortions at planned parent hood and although that seemed more risky at first I was having a change of heart. For our own personal situation it now seemed less risky than the pills. When we finally got to planned parenthood the first thing we came across was a gloomy room filled with staring faces. Everyone looked so depressed. As soon as we went through the metal detector and into that room we are told that my daughter is to go through the next door by herself and I was to wait in the waiting area with all of the gloomy people. They said that my daughter may ask inside whether or not I could come in. When she did she was told no. She was very nervous as the persons inside were treating her coldly and were losing patience with her request to have me inside with her. Continued 2 of 3\r \r As my daughter was at the door telling me this she gets yelled at by them to close the door and they kept making rude remarks to her. Then they told her to pay the fee and as my daughter explained to them that we didn't know if we would be staying unless we get to ask our questions they told her that she should pay and if that turns out to be the case that we want to leave that they would then refund our money. When my daughter came to the door to tell me this I was now getting embarrased at the room full of people staring and although I didn't know what I would do I decided to run out of there with my daughter. I had taken a day off from work to do this and I that was the last day my daughter could take off from school. It was such a stressful situation that I lost it and started yelling at my daughter in the car. I was confused, angry, sad, frustrated but I knew one thing and that was that I loved my daugher very much and I needed to make sure that she would be safe and got the best care possibly. I immedeately went home and looked in the internet for other options. I thought somewhere out there there had to be a more respectful place that could help us. I figured a private doctor would be the choice so I put two key words in google ""private abortion"" and up came Early Options. I clicked on the link to their website. The more I read the more I liked what I was reading. The panic that I felt for the last two weeks slowly melted away. I learned that we did have another option besides the pill, the aspiration method. She didn't have to do a surgical procedure after all. It felt so good to find this out. I could not believe my eyes when I read that it only takes 5 minutes and bleeding does not last that long. When I found out that the price was almost the same as the price planned parenthood quoted me, I was totally shocked. How could care of that quality be the same price. Planned parenthood just does not measure up. The surprises did not end there. The convenience of having a Saturday appointment was a life saver. We were able to relax and not worry about interrupting our busy schedule. Before the appointment I read some of the reviews. It was such a relief. I was no longer nowhere near as worried as I had been the week prior. I was able to give my daugher the support because I felt supported myself. When we got to the office I worried about what was behind on the other side of the door from the waiting area. Once inside you get a whiff of a sweetest aroma in the air. It wasn't masking any smells. It just smelled like the kind of place that people take pride in working in. Continued 3 of 3\r \r The nurse is so easy going and nice. No one is rushing, all the attention is on you. The doctor was so easy to talk to. She came into the room where we were seated and allowed my daughter to tell her everyting that she wanted to talk about. My daughter is pretty independent but she wanted me there and they allowed her to have me there. I was able to stay with my daugher the whole entire time. All my questions were answered too. They had so much patience and not once did they seem like they wanted to move on to do other things. Everyone was so nice from the receptionist to the nurse to the doctor. When my daughter was having the procedure done they made her as comfortable as possible. She was given pain killers a hot compress and music to relax her while I held her hand. She was talking throughout the whole procedure. It was only a few minutes before it was all over. They didn't mind our curiosity and overabundance of questions which we were still asking during and after the procedure. They even showed us the little fleck of tissue that they look for in the extraction in order to know that they have aspirated the pregnancy. At the end my daughter was still in good spirits and talkative. They covered contraception options with her and listened to her needs based on her menstruation issues. We opted for the Depo Provera. I had to be realistic and make a responsible decision. I rather my daugher keep me in the loop with issues that she needs guidance with and advice in rather than for her to be on her own and get the wrong information. I am aware that if she seeks contraception on her own, by law at her age she does not need the consent of her parents. My daughter and I had a very long serious talk about what happened. We will also be having many more talks in the near future. I also plan to get her some counseling regarding dating and how to handle different situations. We decided that we don't ever want to go through that again and everything is going to be in place to avoid it. Deep inside I also feel grateful to Early Options because I know that should my daughter ever need them again, whether she needs me to be there or not, I know that she will be in good hands. I decided to come here after reading some of the reviews and after a frustrating visit with a cold, judgemental male doctor. Everything that has been written about Early Options in these reviews is absolutely correct! All of the staff were fantastic- compassionate, caring, professional, didn't rush me and answered all of my questions. My nurse was especially great. (Thank you!!) I was recommended by my gyno to go to eastern woman, Since I had never been in this predicament before I called up eastern woman. When I called the lady on the phone was horrifying! She was very unfriendly and made me even more afraid then I already was. I started doing research online instead of listening to my gyno and found early abortions. When I called the operator was patient and answered every question I had in a very friendly tone. I knew immediately that I would be going here instead of the nightmare of place eastern woman. When I arrived for my appointment although the staff had been so amazing I was still terrified considering I had no idea what to expect. This is a very traumatic experience and its imperative woman be treated in a very caring matter! The waiting room was calming and the staff could not have been better. I was hysterical crying and they took the time to calm me down and explain that the process was not a big deal and there was nothing to worry about. She even told me stories to calm me! My experience was just as it says on the website. I selected the Aspiration option. The procedure was quick and not painful at all. Just felt like period cramping. The cramping only lasted for a couple of hours for me. I appreciate the welcoming and comfortable atmosphere. The staff was great and very understanding. This was a great experience, not only was the aspiration procedure quick, the staff was more than friendly, they were almost motherly which was exactly what I needed. once you've made - or have to make this decision - this is the place to be welcomed. it's a calm, organized place with plenty of light, chairs and a zen waterfall to zone out to. thankfully, this is NOT A CLINIC! clinics tend to make a trip to the DMV or jury duty feel like a spa. at early options, the doctors are brilliant, respectful and caring. the staff is cheerful and comforting. but best of all, the procedure is safe, fast and minimally-invasive. not to say it's painless, but it is over quickly, your physical recovery time is short and - at time when you are already self-flagellating or frightened or full of doubt - this doesn't add injury or insult. i would recommend this location or the one in brooklyn to any woman who finds herself in this position. this can be one of the most depressing and scariest thing you have to do . But I would invite anyone to try this. It little pain and the people make you feel great from the time you walk in the door until you live. early options is a great facilaty with outsanding doctors and nurses.my experance was absolutly wounderful. The office is exremly clean the wait and time I spent there was short (less then an hour and a half). Although they don't except any firm of medical insurance you do however get a form that you yourself can send in to your insurance provider and in my case most of the payment was reinverst to me. This is absolutly the place to go if u need an abortion although I hope to never need to I would with out adout go back if I had to. more
