Dr. Alexander Rivkin - Westside Aesthetics

Dr. Alexander Rivkin is THE doctor to go to when it comes to fillers, whether it is Botox, Juvaderm, Radiesse or Restylane. He is an absolute expert at what he does and knows exactly which filler to use to correct which problem it is you have. I went to him for the horizontal lines on my forehead, the two vertical lines between my eyebrows, the parentheses and marionette lines around my mouth and cheek area, and the hollowness underneath my eyes. I liked that he handed me a mirror and asked me what it was that I was looking to correct. He took a long, hard look at my face, studying it carefully, and told me what he was going to do, how much of what filler he was going to use and where. He used Botox to correct the lines on my forehead and between my eyebrows. They're gone! He used Radiesse and a little Juvaderm to correct the parentheses and marionette lines around my mouth and cheek area. They're gone! And then he used Restylane to correct the hollowness underneath my eye area. That's gone! I look and feel so youthful. I am 42 years old and my skin is so smooth and free of the lines and wrinkles it had accumulated over the years. Time catches up with all of us, but Dr. Rivkin can turn back the clock. He is a miracle doctor! I have to mention something else, too, which I admire him for doing or not doing, for that matter. I asked him to put some filler in my lips and he said, ""No way!"" You see, my lips are already naturally full, and I have had some Juvaderm filler put in them by another doctor a while back. Dr. Rivkin refused to fill my lips telling me they were already full and that I didn't need it. Many doctors would never turn down an opportunity to make money for a procedure a patient doesn't need. But, Dr. Rivkin refused, which makes him honest, sincere, and frankly, quite rare. I would also like to acknowledge how lovely and sweet his staff is - all of them. The girls at the front desk make you feel welcomed. His assistants are quite the little experts, too. They prepare the paperwork, get you ready, numb you with cream and stay by your side so that you feel comfortable during the procedure, which by the way, does not hurt a bit. For example Fraxel, Thermage, Velashape are all procedures which you can get cheaper somewhere else. But when it comes to your face and things like botox and fillers, Dr. Rivkin is a true artist. I said I wanted a subtle lip augmentation, and I got a cupids bow with upturned corners. Unbelievably good. I was stunned as I have had a frown all my life (not because I want to, it is just the shape of my mouth). What a difference! It wasn't inexpensive, but it is a total transformation. So if it is your face you want done, then get the best. Not sure how I will afford it, but who cares with these kind of results. So save your pennies because once you see the results you won't want to let anyone else do your face. more

Very intelligent and professional doctor with the best skills in injection. He is very nice, knows what he's talking about, does exactly what he claims (unlike many others who bluff). I'm very picky and he had a great attitude listening to what I wanted, and gave fabulous results. He has a superior eye for balance, he knows what looks good and does not overdo it. It's very rare to find someone who possesses both the vision and the skill at such a high level. The staff are also very nice, especially the nurses. They are always sweet and helpful. I did encounter a problem during one of my visits with a lady there (I believe she is one of the receptionists) who tried to charge more than what Dr.Rivkin quoted. I had to have Dr. Rivkin speak with her to clear it up. It's a drag having to argue about pricing, but Dr. Rivkin stood by his word and was very nice about the whole situation, though I could tell the woman was not happy. She definitely had an attitude, though she did her best to cover it up with fake smiles. Dr. Rivkin on the other hand was very relaxed and understanding; I saw in one of the previous reviews that a woman had a similar experience with a pricing discrepancy, I read Dr. Rivkin's response and have to say that he is right, he is scrupulous and does not mind using a little extra if that is what it takes to achieve the result. I do love Dr. Rivkin and his nurses, but that one visit when I had to deal with a drawn out argument with the receptionist about pricing was definitely not an experience on par with the quality of Dr. Rivkin's services. Also his prices are very reasonable especially considering his level of expertise. If his clinic offers any services you are interested in, you should definitely go in at least for a consultation. For injections you cannot do any better than him. more

One of the doctor's assistants consulted with me. I told her that I wanted Juvederm to improve the dark circles under my eyes, decrease laugh lines, and decrease marionette lines. She said it would be 1 syringe worth,(1 cc). Then the doctor came in and I reiterated what I wanted. He told me that I would only need a little bit around my eyes and laugh lines, none around my mouth to reduce marionette lines. I know I didn't have a whole syringe worth yet I was still charged the full 1 cc price. I didn't think about it until afterwards because I thought I had paid in advance for up to the full 1 cc amount. I went in again the next week for a follow-up and needed a little more Juvederm and the doctor was going to charge me for 1/2 a syringe more. I told him that he didn't even use a full syringe and I was being charged the full amount so I should be charged twice. He agreed and didn't charge me again, but he didn't put much in my face anyway, stating that I didn't need much. It still wasn't a full syringe. It wasn't even 1/2 a syringe but I let it go and decided to eat the costs. I had to go to have some of the Juvederm disolved the next week because he had put a little too much under my eyes and he charged me $100 for that. He had told me there wouldn't be a charge but his assistant told me that was wrong and charged me. I didn't want to make a big deal so I just paid it. I did over-pay but I like the work he did. If you don't mind feeling like you've been over-charged, go there. I will admit that I will probably not go there again for Juvederm because I don't like feeling like I'm being over-charged and feeling uncomfortable having to negotiate the over-charge with the doctor. more

I've been impressed by the fact that Dr. Rivkin listens to me, errs on the side of caution, and will not do anything that looks unnatural. Most importantly, they cured my rosacea -- which had plagued me for years -- with a combination treatment of IPL/Yag laser. I swear, nothing else helped my rosacea until Natalie brought out the IPL/Yag combo. Also, their prices for all their procedures are very reasonable compared with what similar medical spas charge, and the staff is very helpful in terms of making sure that you receive all the discounts and manufacturer rebates you are eligible for. more

She explained everything to me twice, as I am new to the office and services I had tons of questions, I could not be happier with my experience. I'm going back in 2 weeks for botox and to see the Dr. for a consultation on non-surgical stuff. I'll keep you posted on how that goes. I'm so happy I found this place. It's strange to me that there are mixed comments here on the office staff (particularly Karen) because I really like them. That said, maybe because I have been going for awhile and am generally pretty polite, they are nice to me. I really do feel, though, like the office staff is exceptionally nice. On a side note, however, I would not advise Cosmelan. The formulation has changed and doesn't work anymore. Overall, I have a lot of confidence in Dr. Rivkin. After seeing Dr. Rivkin for injectibles, I felt a new sense of confidence and joy about life - in over a decade it was the first time I actually enjoyed looking into the mirror! In my opinion Dr. Rivkin is much more than a skilled doctor - he is truly an artist when it comes to working on one's face. I can't believe I found this incredible doctor! I just had my cheecks done and it's lifted my whole face! I can see my defined jawline again!!! I went back to work that same day. Didn't bruise or swell! It didn't even hurt!! Non surgical is the way to go!!!! Dr Rivkin does just the right amount of filler so it doesn't look like you've had work done. You just look beautiful and younger! The staff is soo helpful and positive and they are always smiling. The environment is so zen. You feel at home there.
