Best

Came out of rehab in another state and came to this IOP for ongoing work. They helped me with triggers and I got on some medication that kept me from having bad cravings.

Worst

I am not a patient at the facility but a spouse of a patient who is seen there. I have nothing but good to say about the doctors, but my feelings toward the staff are different. ...

Heartless personnel and management\r \r Nothing whatever of your personal story matters to the heartless underlings who decide if you can see one of their doctors. Unlike receptionists who will tell you if and when you can be seen, they probe you for details and make judge, jury and executioner decisions based on their own perceptions and biases--as if they revel in their little authorities even though they are misapplying them and hurting real people. If you have a substance abuse problem, the practice has created a maze of unnecessary and costly ""induction"" phases not covered by insurance to fleece all but the rich who can pass this financial gauntlet. Don't even bother trying to appeal to management for any individualized care based on your personal suffering--they seem to get paid to be heartless and dismissive. It doesn't matter if you're 60 and rife with life-long pain and need the power of a doctor who can choose to be compassionate if you have documentation that would cover their liability issues--the intake coordinator and director who are not doctors will spout the same one-size-fits-all dismissal regardless of the type of suffering you'll face. They are about themselves entirely--patients are units of necessary evil for them to get paid-- and the underlings believe you're nothing but a uniform liability to be dispensed with. I hope there is a hell just for them. They have no idea what decisions mentally unwell and sleep-deprived human beings make for relief when legit medicine keeps failing and judge everyone as if 100% lucid and sane when having made the choice to self medicate. It's unconscionable. more

I cant believe all the negative feedback. Ok, so yes every Doctors appointments have back up's preventing to see them when they were scheduled, however after the first hour (Ali F) Why didn't you go up a reschedule then, you never know of the situation that particular Dr was facing. Anyways, I HANDS DOWN LOVE Dominion Psychiatric, they finally gave me answers for my son as well as me, i didnt know where to turn and they gave me hope I truly could not ask for better Doctors. ALSO, research the Doctors in the office, they are top notch, it seems like they hire only but the best, SOOO BEFORE you go by negative feedback, just look more into it.. Also some of the doctors that were there a year ago, are not there today. they want only the best and make sure they can fit the position.. ANYWAYS, love them, love them, love them more

3 hour wait 3/23/2012

Appt was 1045 and at 145 I decided to get my money back and leave which they were nice about. Office could use some updates - for as busy as they are, they should be able to afford new carpeting. I probably should have stayed and been seen, but will hopefully have better luck elsewhere. more

the IOP 10/26/2011

This is an excellent program. I came out of an inpatient rehab and joined their IOP. It has helped me immensely. My experience does not reflect others on this board. more

Dominion Psychiatric IOPTurning Point IOP 10/10/2011

I had a good experience with this rehab program. I went to IOP for six weeks and then they don't have aftercare for one year. The aftercare is free. Peggy and Kim are awesome. They really care. I got my life back thanks to these folks. more

Must really need money... 5/9/2011

I haven't been in years, but as the other reviews I stopped going many years ago because of the bad customer service. I always had to wait between 30-45 mins to be seen and that was on a good day.. and the front desk people treat people like they are freaks. It has been at least 6 years since I have been there, and at the time I went had very good medical with no copay, however, here we are 6-7 years later and I am getting a bill from them? Really? I have tried to call and discuss this with them, and they say I am not in the system. DUH. Nice to see nothings changed and I made the right choice by not going back...lol... more

Incompetence At Its Very Best 3/21/2011

The Dr I was seeing at Dominion was OK however, I needed an Rx refilled and my mail order company tried getting in touch with Debbie for 10 days. I then tried calling her and left 2 messages. She never return the pharmacy or my calls at all. When I finally reached her, I asked why she didn't follow through and return the calls, she advised 'I was busy"". I put a call in to the office manager, Shirley Terry. This lady is the lead moron. She said Debbie always returns calls, I said have the days and times from my pharmacy and from when I called where she never returned calls (8 times). I called and left her 2 messages and she had Debbie call me back! This lady could care less what her employees do and the entire practice could care less about their patients. Stay away from this dump! more

impossible 1/26/2011

I tried to make an appt. for 3 days. Katherine's voice mail came on everytime and now it's full. She called back once after my first call and I missed it, so I kept trying but she never returned anymore calls. Apparently, they don't need new clients. I decided if it's this difficult to make a new client appt., because they only have one person in charge of scheduling, you have to wonder what their other client services are like. Good luck with your appt. tomorrow, at least you got to schedule. more

scared 1/21/2011

I am going to go an pray i have a great experience each time i go. If not i am out of there! thanks everyone for writing it does help to get an idea. more

Outrageous! 12/12/2010

My elderly father was scheduled for his first appointment on a Sunday at 6:00 p.m. - he was referred by his PCP. After my father and mother arrive and fill out the registration paperwork, (there was no receptionist in sight), they watch two other patients be taken back, after they've waited for an hour and a half, the doctor came out to the waiting area with his appt. book and informed my father that he ISN'T ON THE SCHEDULE!!! And so pencils him in on the following Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. - when the recording on the outgoing machine says they are only open until 8:00 p.m. Mon-Thurs! My father finally finally finally agreed to seek psychiatric help and his first experience is this?!?!?!? All after waiting for an entire MONTH for the initial appointment! DO NOT GO TO THIS OFFICE - and tell your referring provider to not refer to this sham of a practice again. more

Un-freaking-believable 9/11/2009

1st appointment-Seen on time and Doctor prescribed medicine that was absolutely the correct diagnosis, on the way out I sked appt#2 Pros: I'll have to get back to you on that one Cons: I'll have to list them in details section more

Definitely not like the other reviews 5/27/2009

I have been coming to DPA for years. While they are a busy office, I don't find my experience here different from other top practices in the area. They have made definite improvements over the last year. The phones are being answered more promptly, the front desk is very helpful and they even gave the waiting room a makeover! Pros: Attentive staff and providers Cons: busy office, parking more

TERRIBLE 3/20/2009

Had to schedule our first marriage counseling session six weeks in advance.... We get there, wait for an HOUR, and the bumbling doctor (Ludford) comes out and says there was some insurance problem and he can't see us! We're convinced to reschedule, never get a confirmation call (for the new date), and find out we've been pushed even further out. We say FORGET IT, a WEEK goes by, and the doctor calls (at TEN PM) begging us to give him a chance, telling us he could ""squeeze"" us in.... in 3 more weeks!!! Told him he's crazy calling us at 10 PM (we have an infant who was sound asleep til the phone rang), and he's even crazier if he thinks we're going to schedule a 3rd appt with him. Cons: Long waits, rude treatment more

The Good out weighs the bad 2/27/2009

I just want to say that I have going to Dominion Psychiatric a little over a year and yes, I have experienced long waits on the phone and yes I have been placed on hold, but I have been doing much better since I have been going there. I have had only one problem with the staff but for the most part it is just like most busy offices. In going there I have leaned to accept the good with the bad and actually the good out weighs the bad and now I can equally look at my life like that. Pros: Very busy office, good staff, caring providers Cons: Parking is a little to be desired more

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE 1/28/2009

Horrible Horrible Horrible Takes days to get a prescription refilled. Support staff awful and rude. FIND ANOTHER CLINIC. more

EXTREMELY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE 1/14/2009

I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS GROUP DUE TO THE POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE OF THEIR STAFF. MY SISTER IS A PATIENT HERE, AND WE HAVE BEEN TREATED VERY UNPROFESSIONAL BY THE STAFF. ""YEA,WHAT, I DON'T KNOW, AND I WILL TAKE YOUR NUMBER"" IS THE TYPICAL RESPONSE I GET EACH AND EVERY TIME I TRIED TALKING TO THE FRONT DESK STAFF. THEY ARE RUDE, IMPERSONABLE. ON ONE OCCASION I HAD TO SPELL MY SISTER'S NAME VERY LOUDLY, WHICH IS A VIOLATION OF THE HIPA LAW. IT IS SO DIFFICULT TO FIND A GOOD PSYCHIATRIST, BUT GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. SAFE YOURSELF SOME FRUSTRATION. more

Unavailable and Unhelpful 1/14/2009

I would not recommend this office especially Dr. Mitchell if you ever want to see your doctor or get your prescriptions refilled. This guy does his own scheduling and is impossible to contact. I tried to make an appointment with him and they said they woul get back to me that day. It's now five days later. When I tried to get the number to his secretary I was denied and returned to an automated answering service. So defintiely don't go here and tell everyone you know not to go here. I wish there was something I could do to make these people pay me back for the money I have lost to them and for the semester that they are about to ruin because they won't call me back. If you need help don't come here. If you need help don't come here. If you need help don't come here. If you need help don't come here. Pros: nothing Cons: no parking, appointments on Sunday, extremely impolite staff (if there were negative numbers on the scale I would use them). more

POOR FRONT OFFICE STAFF-CAUSES A BELOW AVERAGE RATING FOR THE FACILITY. 12/2/2008

I am not a patient at the facility but a spouse of a patient who is seen there. I have nothing but good to say about the doctors, but my feelings toward the staff are different. As a professional, I find it repulsive how they treat patients who are already under stress and suffering with emotional issues. The front desk staff, one in particulary, uses the words yea and hey what do you want. I also heard her say if you ""got a problem go somewhere else, so stop bothering us up here"", and the patient only asked, how much longer will it be. I know that these staff members would NEVER speak like that in front of a physician and treat the patients with such poor behaivor. These staff members need to stop thinking as they patients as ""crazy"" but as people. I also understand that certain places are going to hire certain types of people to maintain the help, but like any business, staff can make or break you. In this case, I would never use them due to the fact that the staff is your first point of contact when entering the facility. Pros: The Doctors Cons: The Front Staff-Be prepared to be treated poorly. more

Go somewhere else. You don't need therapists that can't sort out their own problems. 9/3/2008

There are long waits each time to see the doctors with no apologies ever given. Doctors can cancel appointments on the same day but patients are charged $80 if they have to make a cancellation. Sometimes, the appointments are cancelled but you don't know until you get there. One time I had to wait over an hour to find out that the doctor was not going to show up. The next visit I was seen but the doctor did not have my son's chart and could not write a prescription. She seemed to think that it was funny that I had to come back. I asked for a new doctor but when I went back, he was overbooked, could only see us for ten minutes and asked me to come back. My insurance has been billed for each of these visits. They are making a fortune off of their patients but the one time I had to cancel on the same day, they wanted to charge me. A large practice full of MDs and PhDs should be able to figure out that their administrative staff is terrible! more
