Best

This was probably the best we have had on GH.... did have to wait a little long, but it was stillll goooooooooooodddd!!

Worst

I order take-out here often enough. Cold brisket I can handle -- I can at least reheat it. But my last order... holy shit. I think they ran out of actual slow-cooked brisket...

I order take-out here often enough. Cold brisket I can handle -- I can at least reheat it. But my last order... holy shit. I think they ran out of actual slow-cooked brisket and gave me some rubbery cured stand-in lunch meat pseudo-brisket. What I ordered was not worth $18, or even $5. Closest I came to calling a restaurant to complain. more

food is great, but it took 30 mins longer than the estimate it gave in the confirmation email, even though I went and picked it up :( more

Food arrived nearly an hour later than originally estimated. I kept getting notices that my order was delayed AFTER I had already placed it. When my cold food finally arrived, the delivery person didn't even bother to get out of her car. She called me on my cell phone multiple times before I heard it and picked up (I was anticipating a buzz from the front door); she ordered me to come down and get the food since she refused to walk up stairs. Are you kidding me? This is New York. Who DOESN'T have stairs in their building? Ugh. Never again. more

Very Good BBQ 7/30/2011

Very good BBQ. Great atmosphere. Sides are hit or miss. Sweet potatoes taste like THanksgiving (blech in the summer) and there are a few sides that taste the same because they top them off with the same creole-type powdered seasoning. However, the collared greens and salt potatoes are quite good. This is a good place to take guests in from out of town. more

Disappointing Lunch 10/4/2010

I was disappointed in my meal at Dinosaur. I was expecting fantastic ribs. They were mediocre at best.\r I started out with the original fried green tomatoes. They weren't bad, nothing to write home about though. For my entree I had the half rack of ribs, side of fries, and coleslaw.\r \r Firstly, the ribs did not come out of the kitchen hot. They were warm, to almost cool. I found them to be rather bland, so I smothered them with the BBQ on the table. The cole slaw was uninspired.\r \r I would not recommend Dinosaur or revisit. more

These Wings Are Crazy! 6/27/2010

The BBQ wings at Dinosaur are the very best the the city has to offer. A dozen wings, a pint of beer and a ball game equals a great afternoon in Harlem. Pros: Great beer selection Cons: Usually crowded more

Best Damn Wings Ever 4/13/2010

The last time we went, we were told 1.5 hour wait, but it turned out to be only about 20 minutes. The place was crowded, but there is enough room in-between tables so you don't feel like a herd of cattle. (no pun intended). The chickens wings blow away any others that I've ever had. They seem to be grilled and coated, rather than fried. The portions are not huge, but big. The prices are very reasonable. Lunch for two was about $48 plus tip. And we had left-overs to take home. The real surprise for me was the side-dishes. Most places I've eaten the sides aren't taken seriously and are usually slopped on as filler. The dinosaur's sides were very fresh and could be a satisfying meal on there own. Pros: Some of the best bbq around. Even the sides are fresh. Cons: Crowded, long waits sometimes. more

Food Shopping and BBQ To Go!! 4/4/2010

I have only eaten at Dinosaur twice and both times it was incredibly crowded with a long wait for a table. So now what I do is, park my car across the street at Fairway, call in my order to go, go food shopping, cross the street, have one great beer at the bar from their extensive selection and get my BBQ fix to go. The ribs are on most people's Top 10 List for the city and rightfully so...but the wings are really good too as well as their sides. I have also tried a few of their sandwiches which were very good as well. It's a fun place with a nice cozy bar, friendly staff and great atmosphere but there seems to always be a wait for a table since it is always packed. That should be a good sign, right? Pros: Ribs, sanwiches, sides, atmosphere Cons: crowded more

Big Ass Pork And More... 2/11/2010

I've been going to Dinosaur for the past 3 years. I don't know why I wasn't one of the first people at the door when it first opened, but better late than never.\r \r Normally, we start with the wings, but the deviled eggs are almost as good as my grammy's. I am such a fan of the Big Ass Pork platter that it's usually the first thing I think of, but when I do switch it up, I'm never disappointed. The ribs are always tender and the roasted chicken is always moist. \r \r I tend to stay away from the fried green tomatoes and bbq fried rice, but you can't go wrong with the mac&cheese, potato salad or the baked beans.\r \r As for dessert, my last trip saw key lime pie on the menu...but I think the banana coconut pudding is totally unbeatable.\r Pros: Excellent service, extensive beer list, great food Cons: Can get really crowded, Not a lot of parking more

Two thumbs up! 1/12/2010

The place was packed(which is a good sign). They told us the wait would be over an hour, but the place was recommended and it smelled so good we waited. We had some drinks at the bar and were seated within half an hour. Deviled eggs and the wings were really good. Loved the ribs. Try it. You'll probably be back! I know I will more

Most amazing BBQ! 12/28/2009

As we approached the restaurant the aroma of BBQ sauce was heavy in the air. We all quickly got very excited. What I didn't know before we got there was that you can make reservations, I will do this next time. We waited probably an hour but it wasn't bad since we got seats at the bar and they had like 40 beers available. The guys even ordered flights of 4 different beer samples. We finally were seated and right away noticed the different sauce options on the table. The ""Sensuous"" sauce was a huge hit. We ordered a full rack of baby back ribs, korean style beef ribs, and pulled pork. We also got sides: mac & cheese, baked beans, fries, cole slaw, fried rice, salt potatoes, and corn bread. The majority winner was the korean beef ribs. They had a great flavor very similar to the best bbq I have had in Korea town. I also really enjoyed the regular ribs a lot. The mac & cheese was absolutely amazing. The cheese was thick, rich, and creamy. I would highly suggest this side to complement your meal. We were all STUFFED after dinner. Funny enough, the waiter hands us a dessert menu and we ask, ""Does anyone actually have room for dessert?"" He said about 1-2% order it! Pros: Fantastic Ribs, Mac&Cheese more

Very Much Worth the Trip!!! 7/8/2009

Dino BBQ is definitely in my Top 5 places to eat in New York City! While it is certainly not a place for passers-by, those that plan the trip will be handsomely rewarded with a huge plate of ribs, and some delicious side dishes. I personally go for the french fries and beans with my ribs! The only drawback to this place is that it so so popular that the waiting area cannot accommodate everyone one inside. The bar area could be 50% bigger, and that might do it...but if you can get to the bar, you will find a solid selection of craft brews in bottles and on tap, and the drinks are as good as they get in the City. I had a rookie make my Long Island the other night (it was cute because she was measuring the shots). The second one was clearly made by the veteran bartender who was pouring two bottles from each hand! Oh, and do yourself a favor, book your reservation online. Makes it much less of a hassle to get your table. Big groups must reserve early since the place is so popular! Pros: Great Food, Solid Drinks Cons: Bar Area could be bigger more

Dinasaur Barbecue 6/18/2009

The food was commercial BBQ. The Service was horrible. It was moderately priced.\r Don't waste your money. Pros: The Beer was Cold Cons: The Food & Service more

There Must Be Something in the Sauce! 6/15/2009

I'm not a big BBQ eater, but I've been to Dinosaur BBQ a few times and pretty much licked my plate clean. The Deviled eggs are a must have as an appetizer and every entree I've tried (ribs, brisket) was tasty. The drinks are good and strong. Be sure to leave your mark on one of the bathroom walls. Pros: Food, Drinks, Atmosphere more

Dinosaur Rules 6/7/2009

Dinosaur is like the Disney world of bbq restaurants. Always crowded. Very nice service. Makes the trip up to West 131 St. well worth it. Oh, prices are excellent too. Pros: Very good ribs. Good half chicken. Sides are all excellent Cons: Brisket and pulled pork are a little dry. more

WINGS WERE SO SPICY THEY MADE MY BROTHER CRY 4/21/2009

Ok so I heard they had the spiciest wings ever, so I had no other choice but to check them out. When I asked the waiter for them he suggested I go one step below 'hottest' but I told him ""No way"". They were DEE-LI-CIOUS! Hands down hottest/spiciest wings ever!!!\r \r I take my hat off to you Dino BBQ. Can't wait to make another man cry :o) Pros: Spicey Wings & Outdoor Picnic Tables Cons: Always Packed more
