I work at a high end restaurant in the Pearl and have been hearing the buzz regarding DeCarli so decided to take a trip to Btown. I first read some reviews which peaked my interest even more, especially the 1 stars. Here's the skinny, they do not take reservations for the bar ( I asked), in fact I don't know any restaurants who do. The appetizers are very good, and no, they're not meant to feed a party of 10, they are APPETIZERS, also known as ""starters"". And, they are not $12-14, which would be ridiculous if it were true, don't believe me check the website. I can only say my drink, the Provencal, was not ""yukky"" as so eloquently described in one review, it was actually quite tasty, albeit on the sweet side for me, and my friend enjoyed her drink as well! As for the people who came for dessert and didn't know a thing, it is quite acceptable to ASK your waiter questions, that is what they are there for. And to the guy who found nothing redeeming but the gelato, did you say something while you were there? OR were you waiting for the hostess to pry it out of you? The lesson here people is, if you have a problem, say something! Most restaurant owners want nothing more than to have guests leave happy, and most waiters, myself included, will do what ever it takes to make that happen- when we know about it. \r
As for me, my experience was extremely positive, had the beet salad which was very interesting and good, not flavors I would expect to pair well but did, and the brown butter poached halibut, probably one of the best fish dishes I have ever had. If I lived on Btown, I would eat here a lot! And I will come back for the polenta fries!! For dessert I had the smore's alla decarli, which were crazy good! I think the only ""pretentious pearl wanna-be"" is chick who wrote the review, and by the way, Oba called and they miss you! ( sorry oba)\r
