Review content:
My daughter and I tried out DiCarli's the end of March. What a great meal! The atmosphere was very pleasant with the high ceilings, brick walls, and a joysome (but not loud) group at the happy hour bar. Our waitress was very informative as we plied her with questions about some of the menu items. We started with cocktails. I tried their Red drop - similar to a lemon drop but made with grapefruit juice. How wonderful. Our apetizer (we shared) was the polenta fries - my oh my how wonderful. I ate half of mine with the sauce but tried one without. They were so good that I finished the fries without the sauce. They were hot and crispy on the outside yet smooth, almost creamy on the inside. It was an interesting texture change that my mouth kept craving for just one more bite. We then moved on to a fennel salad. I am going to try making it at home as I really enjoyed it. My daughter had the gnocchi (I enjoyed the bite that she reluctantly shared) and I went for the ribs as I had heard so much about them. The sauce was not hot-spicy, wasn't overly spiced and both meat and sauce went together well - neither overpowering and yet supportive to each. My daughter had a glass of wine which one of the staff recommended to go with her main course. She liked it and thought it was a good pairing with the gnocchi (she collects wine so has a good knowledge of what is available). Although we had some of our main courses in take-home boxes, we decided to share a dessert. We both like chocolate but that night the apple-pear cobbler with cinnamon gelato called out to us. It did not last long when it arrived at our table. We definitely will be going back to this restaurant. The food and drink was wonderful, the staff attentive but not hovering, and had great suggestions when we asked. I have heard that the fish dishes are also good so will probably try one of those on our next visit. However it will be after the polenta fries. You can't miss on this place.
Pros: I am still thinking about the food even three weeks later.
Cons: Make reservations - This place will be filling up quickly on weekends
