Best

I have been going to Chino since they opened. The quality of the food has changed over the years, the blackberry mohito martini has less puree than it used to, and it caters more ...

If I could make babies with Chino Latino, I would. 4/14/2008

I adore Chino Latino. It's a great place for a girls' night out, dinner with out-of-town guests, birthdays... The drinks are amazing (and potent!); I've never tried anything on the menu I didn't like (I'm a VERY picky eater); the servers are always fun and helpful. The decor is great. The bathroom set-up is... uh, interesting. The bar area is cool, but crowded. I LOVE the queso fundido and I crave the Chinatown Lo Mein. There are so many delicious options to choose from. If you haven't found something you like, there are plenty of dishes to explore. Pros: Fun cocktails, delicious food, great atmosphere, not kid-friendly Cons: Reservations required, and there is only one Chino Latino! more

good food, great ambiance 3/16/2008

Every time I've been to Chino Latinos it's always jammed full of people. Surprisingly the service always seems to be efficient, informed about the menu and friendly despite the constant flow of people. Pros: food, ambience, service Cons: always busy, hard to do a last minute reservation more

HATED IT! 2/27/2008

I have never been so displeased with any restaurant in my life! My friends and I drove an hour to eat at chinos and we didnt know we were suppose to make reservations so when we got there they told us the wait would be and hour to an hour and half. We decided to wait since we drove so far. The place was so crowded i could barely move and the noise level was so high i couldnt even hear myself think. So two hours went by and they still never called our name so we went to ask and the hostess rudely told us she couldnt tell us when we would get seated. so another half an hour later we were finally seated. The food was definitley not worth what we went through. Also it bothered me that every single person there thought they were so hip and trendy and way too cool to have manners. Pros: the food came fast Cons: Noisy, crowded, too trendy, long wait more

If you are a foodie, look elsewhere. 1/13/2008

We have been to Chino Latino twice, once when they first opened then about 18 months later. I can make allotments for new restaurants especially one as ambitious as this. Mistakes made in week one should not continue if a restaurant is worth its salt. Anyway, the best way to summarize Chino is booze first, (read profit) chic second, food and service are way, way down the list. Pros: If you are not a foodie and your only reality is reality tv you will love this place. Cons: Food, service, value, parking etc... more

Overrated 12/22/2007

Chino Latino is a place to be seen at; not a place for a nice dinner. The Philippine Paella is good but I haven't had any other menu item that I would die for. The sushi isn't spectacular either. Pros: Waite staff is always good Cons: Loud more

WAAY OVER HYPED 11/20/2007

I have eaten a chino's only at the request of out of town visitors because they think its ""cool"" and ""trendy"". What makes me sad is that there are hundreds of other, more unique, better staffed, better fooded places around the twin cities. PLEASE if you are visiting Minneapolis CHOOSE SOME WHERE ELSE to eat. Everytime I've eaten here the service has been inconsistent as has been the food. It's always over booked and crowded and the drinks are nothing to write home about. more

Unimpressed 9/17/2007

I have heard many good things about Chino's but I was sadly disappointed when I finally went. My friend had made reservations for 10 and upon arriving, we realized we had 12. Even though we had made reservations, when we changed them by 2 people, we ended up waiting almost an hour to be seated. We asked the hostess if we could simply just squeeze the extra 2 people in at the table they had originally intended for us and they said that's what they were doing. So what I really don't understand is why that took them 50 minutes. On top of that, our waiter was very unattentive and brought all of our orders out sporadically instead of enlisting another server's help. I was the last one to get my food and 1/3 of the table was done eating by that time. He was very unattentive in refilling our drinks. The pad thai that I ordered was absolutely horrendous. I have been advising everyone who mentions the place to avoid it unless they want to eat dog food. Otherwise, the presentation was great and the smore's dessert was fantastic! What a great idea. I would go again because I have heard they have good sushi that I would like to try but unless you want a long wait and an unattentive wait staff, I would advise against it. Pros: Trendy, celeb hangout, fun dessert and drinks Cons: Parking, wait staff more

An Absolute Must! 7/5/2007

A sleek and chic place in Uptown, Chino Latino has a fun, cosmopolitan vibe. The menu changes daily, and you really can't go wrong with any selection. The sushi is especially creative. It's a little loud for a date, but there is a decent party scene and great people watching on weekend nights. The service is friendly. I had a great time, and the food was incredible. Pros: Creative food, ambience, service Cons: Parking in uptown can be a hassle more

mid size party 5/30/2007

Recently a few months ago my girlfriend had her birthday party. Keep in mind this was about 15 people in the group. When we walked in the restaurant had a fund little atmosphere, alot of life. When we were seated everyone ordered. Drinks were served promptly, but when I order an entree and someone down the table ordered the same item but in an appetizer, the server mixed up our orders. Rather than getting us a new order, she brought a plate and split the other plate at the other end and brought me the extra plate telling me that was the rest of my food. I was a little disappointed. I have to say though the sushi plate that I ordered was a little of a disappointment. The servings were a little small. But overall, it is a nice place to go if you're looking to get cocktails or an appetizer. more

Way Disapppointing! 3/15/2007

Wow, I was extremely disappointed with this place! We went as part of a large party and were looking forward to it, as I had heard some great things. The atmosphere was good/fun but everything else was lacking. The food was mediocre at best and the dishes were skimpy on the ingredients that cost any money (heavy on the filler and garnish, light on meat). The worst part is that they weren't bringing out enough food to go around for the entire table- we kept having to ask them for more dishes so that everyone could have some of what was on the menu for our party. We were about 30 people and the host paid $25 per person for food, so this should not have happened. The desserts were great, however. If only they brought enough for everyone to have some! Pros: Fun Atmosphere Cons: Mediocre Food, Flawed Service, Doesn't Live Up to Hype more

Love It. 1/29/2007

What I have found out with this place is you either Love it or Hate it. We have brought a few people here over the last couple of years and I would say 75% of the people we brought love it. Everyone else won't go again. We (my wife and I) Love this place and will continue to bring people there. Pros: Food, Service, Drinks, Food, Setup Cons: Noisey , very hard to have a conversation. more

Not worth the price 1/24/2007

I don't understand why everyone loves this place. The food is terrible, the service takes forever, and the atmosphere is soo dark. I can barely see my food! Most of the customers are single, horny, annoying-loud, and drunk. I couldn't even hear my boyfriend talk, we practically yelled at at the top of our lungs!!! I've been to Chino Latino's a few times because I thought each time I went there, I just ordered something wrong but then it occurred to me: Their food is just plain gross. I don't like their entrees whatsoever, there's nothing special or tasty about it. It's just overpriced crappy food. Don't ever get their sushi. I don't think that place is very well known for their fish. However, I do like their appetizers. My favorite would have to be the bulgoki: thinly sliced beef, marinated with a tangy/spicy sauce , and wrapped with lettuce and kimchi. I also enjoy their corn with cheese and chili peppers on it. The server was extremely nice so it's not his fault that 75% of the food tasted gross. To sum it all up: Chino Latino is like an upscale bar only with crappy bar food. Pros: good appetizers Cons: spendy, obnoxious-loud, terrible entrees more

fantastic place to hang out at! 1/5/2007

The food was great, I was there with my girlfriend(now my fiance) a year ago and we ordered appetizers, and food. The bathrooms are odd (its an uptown thing) as well. We had 2 women making out and groping each other maybe 6 inches to a foot away from me while I was trying to have a conversation with my gf. They were both very good looking. I did my best to concentrate on her (my gf). I had a very good night, and didnt even get slapped! I loved the loudness, the feel of the place was great! Lots of gorgeous women too!!! Pros: great place to hang out, lots of women! Cons: crowded! loud! not a good place if you are old! more

Perfect unique atmosphere 11/22/2006

This restaurant/bar is fantastic. People watching, the food, the drinks, everything is so different. Highly recommended for a night out with the girls or hot date. Pros: The food and atmosphere Cons: reservations a must for dinner more

Great atmosphere 11/19/2006

Their deserts are the best! Try the orgazmo pineapple drink! They have a cozy gathering spot in the back for drinks. The menu changes often which is nice & they have lots of variety. It looks like something out of a movie. Pros: Desserts Cons: it's a little loud more

Great for groups 11/15/2006

This place is great for groups as you can order many different entrees and share them all. Tables are for larger groups...can be a quit loud, but fun none the less! Cons: loud atmosphere more

Creative Dishes 11/13/2006

The food is so creative and will definatly give you a break from the bland. The trick to having fun is to go when it is not the weekend when the people attempting to be trendy come in from the burbs. Some people poo poo Chino because the crowd has taken a bad turn but go during the week and enjoy great food, great service, and you can actually hold a conversation without yelling to one another. Pros: food Cons: crowd more

Tons of fun! 11/2/2006

This is one of my favorite places in uptown Minneapolis. A little pricey but the ambience is a ton of fun. A unique menu, fun drinks and friendly staff. They have a great happy hour appetizer menu. Good pick up place for happy hour if youare single. Great to entertain out of town guests. more

Go for the food, atmosphere 11/2/2006

The ""trendiest"" spot in Uptown- an experience everyone should have at least once. The food is very good and certainly unique, but avoid dinning with less than 4 as the dishes are large and meant to share. The atmopshere is great, as long as you don't mind the blaring music. The bar/lounge is something to avoid except during happy hour. Pros: Great food, fun atmosphere, unique Cons: Parking more

Terrible Service! 9/29/2006

I reserved the Community Table for my friends birthday on a Friday night. I expected the loud noise and fun atmosphere...What I didn't expect was the RUDE Service by BOTH of our Servers and insulting remarks made to me and my guests. Our male server was horrible and made it clear that he did care about Guest Service what so ever. After our 3-hour meal, our Male Server even had the nerve of presenting us with a $43.00 bill after we all paid....he told us the he ""forgot"" to put the extra meal charges on the orignal bill. After questioning him on the bill and explaining that he must have made a mistake, the Server got out his cell phone and said ""How about I call your friends and tell them to come in a pay their bill."" Excuse me? Why would anyone EVER say that? The female Chino Manager ended up coming over and comping the Rude Servers mistake. At no point in time should ANYONE be treated so disrespectfully as we did that Friday (9/29) evening. After reading the other user reviews on this web site, it is apparent that Chino Latino needs some serious Guest Service Training for all of its Servers. I do NOT recommend this restaurant based on the service. Pros: Good Food. Cons: Service, Too Loud more
