Castle Dental Centers - bogus treatment plans 10/21/2009

I went in for a routine cleaning. Since there are Castle Dentals all over the place I figured why not. I first had to have a dental assessment. While the doctor was friendly, I felt like I was being pushed into scheduling an appointment for a long list of treatments that were not really explained to me. The doctor first suggested I get braces because due to my wisdom teeth coming in, i have a slight shift in one of my lower teeth. Hardly noticable, no pain or discomfort and no interest in braces. I told the doctor no thanks and his repsonse was that if it was his mouth her would want it to be perfect. He then said that he suggests I get a deep gum cleaning and antibiotic shots in my gums to reverse any gum issues. The doctor also told me that since i am 27 and getting older, he suggests I get a deep gum cleaning 3 times a year and mentioned that although the 3rd visit comes out of pocket it is worth it to catch teeth issues early. He left with telling me that everything would more

Castle Dental-Stassney front desk has poor customer service! 10/14/2009

I went in for a regular check up and cleaning. During my cleaning the hygienist rated my teeth saying I would need deep cleaning and the doctor double checked saying the hygienist made it seem worse than it actually was. Then I get a bill from my exam=over $100. I was livid, I was never notified of a procedure not covered by my insurance, I called my insurance and called the dentist office and of course the dentist blames the insurance Co. that they cover what they want when they want. The insurance Co. backs me up and says it is clear what is covered and they mail an EOB directly to the dentist and to me as well. The dentist was supposed to look it over and file an adjustment claim. After receiving another bill from the dentist, I call and they claim they never received the letter from my insurance, nothing in my file or even that I had spoken to them regarding this issue (I had been fighting for months now). I also tried to obtain from my file & destroy the statement saying I would b more

Castle Dental Center is Horrible 9/27/2009

The Castle Dental in Hancock Center is all about making money. I was told that I need four crowns (over 4 years ago) and it was going to be $800 each. I had a bad feeling and never got the work done. Since then, I've seen two different dentists and nobody ever mentioned needing crowns. more

I went in for a cleaning and x-ray. First time there and when the dentist check my teeth he says to me that i have no cavities. I follow by saying great and he says to me, Not for me. Then the hygienist comes in to do the count thing (2,2,3,4,2 etc) and tells me that i will need a special kind of cleaning and i will find out from the front desk in a few minutes how much it will cost. My dental insurance pays for 2 cleanings and 1 x-ray a year so at that point i question the front desk. The receptionist tells me that my special cleaning will cost $272.00. When I ask them, so you are not going to clean my teeth? Their response was, not until after you do this. The guy behind the counter tells me that ...it would be like waxing a dirty car and if I can't pay for it now that there are financing options available. I realized at that moment that i just saw a dentist who works on commission. I refused the service, paid $5.00 for the x-rays and will be filing a complaint wi more

Castle Dental Centers is horrific! 8/24/2009

I will never go to another Castle Dental Center. My experience was horrible. I went to visit the location in the Hancock shopping center on 41st street. First of all, the staff did not demonstrate professionalism at all. Second, there was lack of privacy. I could hear the dentist tell everyone what was wrong with their teeth before coming in to talk to me about mine. Third, my treatment plan was discussed in the waiting room in front of other patients. I felt that this was a very disappointing visit. I was so uncomfortable, and all I wanted to do was leave the office. more

Castle Dental Centers is a hoax 8/17/2009

I went to the Castle Dental in Round Rock - East Palm Valley. I went in for consultation on repairing some teeth. First visit was a cleaning, 5$ - GREAT. Second visit was a deep cleaning and referral to a specialist - $300 - Not great. My Insurance did not cover a specialist - so on 3rd visit I get attitude: quote sometimes it isnt all about money, sir. I was livid - I live in a 400K home and some meat head from a dental chop shop is talking to me like that ? If your going in to get a cleaning, watch your wallet - that's the only thing they do a good job of cleaning. more

Cedar Park Castle Dental Quacks 5/27/2009

I don't know where to start. My wife went in to save a root canal that didn't have a crown, and they said they could save the tooth. One month later The tooth is bad and she need an implant with a bone graft. I had a bad feeling about this after my two crowns from Castle Dental still hurt after two months so I told my wife to get a second opinion. The second opinion said he was not surprised and that he hears this often from Castle Dental x customers. The new periodontist said there is no way to tell if a bone graft is needed until the tooth is pulled and that his price is a fraction of the amount Castle proposed. I could go on with more scary details but just please don't go to Castle Dental in Cedar Park. more

South Lamar Castle Dental Was Good for Us. 4/3/2009

I visited the South Lamar (Corners) Castle Dental Center this morning with a dental emergency for my five year old son. He'd had a toothache for a few days that had gotten worse overnight. Turns out he needed a root canal and he needed it right away! Not only were they able to see us very quickly and fix the tooth the same day, but also they treated us very well. We saw Dr. Chen. He was good with my son, who was very scared and in pain. The front desk staff was FABULOUS. The dental assistants were nice. The financing agent explained what our bill would be BEFORE the procedure was done. And, in the end, it cost less than their estimate. We had to drive quite a way to get to this dental center because it was the only one we could find open on Saturday, but I will be going back there again - driving distance and all. more

Castle Dental on S Lamar was awful they tried to over sell me. Over clean me, told me I had a cavity which they filled and has been in PAIN ever since. Then they keep sending me bills for past due amounts. I paid them everything they asked me to at the time of the visit and I gave them my insurance but they still are coming at me for more money this is a NIGHTMARE. more

Dear Rachel T. (08/08/08 message), Anonymous (02/20/08 message), and Anonymous (10/25/07 message), and any other Monarch Dental/Castle Dental/Bright Now! dental patients who are interested ! I have finished writing a draft of a complaint to the Texas Attorney General's Office regarding a Monarch Dental office's attempt to sell me a deep cleaning when all that I needed was a general cleaning. Texas-based Monarch Dental and Texas-based Castle Dental Centers are subsidiaries of Bright Now! Dental, Inc. I have copied your statements, along with the statements of other Monarch/Castle/Bright Now! dental patients in various dental offices across the country who experienced similar problems when attempting to get their standard cleanings and/or who experienced attempts to sell them dental services that they in fact did not need. If you have an e-mail address and/or telephone number that you would like for me to submit with my letter so that the government officials can call you also rega more

Avoid At All Costs - Scam Artists 12/7/2008

I saw this group in June and submitted my dental insurance card at that visit. They sent me to a specialist because they could not read their own x-rays with confidence. Every month they sent a bill claiming it was unpaid. Every month I called them and the insurance company to find out why. For 5 consecutive months, Castle Dental (Barton Creek) said they had filed a claim and had checked eligibility which was denied. Each month United Concorida said they had never received a claim or a call from Castle Dental. My husband physically went in to Castle in October and showed their inept, rude staff that Castle was not set up to file electronically with UC and for that reason United Concordia would only accept a fax or mailed claim. We were assured Castle would file the claim. Within weeks we receive a letter threatening to turn us over to a collection agency for non-payment. My husband went in again, called United Concordia over the speaker phone for all to hear, who again said no claim wa more

Dr. Gillett is the best! 11/13/2008

I have been seeing the same dentist since I was 4 years old so I was very scared to see someone new but Dr. Gillett was amazing! The office itself is pretty bad. The receptionists are a little less than friendly and the assistants are AWFUL! They were rude, loud, and just generally unprofessional! Thankfully the whole office redeemed itself when Dr. Gillett came in. He is so attentive and really cares about his patients. He was very honest with me and told me the procedures I needed to take care of and those that I could wait on so I wouldn't be out a ton of money. I also appreciated that he educated me about what he was doing and why so I never felt "talked down to" as some doctors tend to do. If you are ever in need of a dentist I HIGHLY recommend seeing Dr. Gillett.... and make sure you ask for him because I doubt it would be worth it if you were with someone else! Pros: Dr. Gillett!!! Cons: Receptionists and Assistants more

SCAM artist galore! 10/22/2008

Citysearch User Provided by Partner
I'd like to file a formal complaint against Castle Dental. I didn't learn for 2 years that I was being scammed! They try to tell you that you need extra cleanings, so they can CHARGE you. The special hygenists cancelled my appointemnts twice in a row for family emergencies, and of course it takes about 3 mos to re-schedule an appointment! Then I needed a crown on a seemingly fine tooth! I didn't know to question it...because I never had a crown before! After over $1500 later...I had severe pain in a tooth from a crown I probably didn't even need. I had to have multiple adjustments, and ended up getting a crack resulting in an abcess in the tooth directly below the stupid crown! So I ended up with another root canal & crown for another $1500. This is with my insurance!!! Then they tried to also tell me my wisdom teeth MUST come out because although they came in straight...and I'm somehow not keeping them clean enough! I feel these people are TOTALLY incompetent & SCAM every trusting more

I read these reviews and sat in horror... just about every one of these reflects my experience as well at the Cedar Park location (on 1421). Unnesessary treatments-yes, they are the only ones who insisted on pulling tooth that did not hurt when I was pregnant. They are the only ones who insisted that my husband and I get special more expensive treatment. I hard about it for the first and last time in my life, when I changed dentists, my new dentist never mentioned anything special it was done and covered by insurance. They did try to take Xrays while I was pregnant, I told them no, so they scheduled my follow up appointment with the Xrays included as well. I had to explain to them that 2 weeks later I would not be any less pregnant. They prescribed an antibiotic for my gums, again, knowing I was pregnant, when my OB saw the name, she almost dropped off the chair, supposedly it is the oldest and the most harmful of all and the dentist should have known that. My OB said there w more

I went to Castle Dental for several visits a couple of years ago, and I must say I couldn't have been treated worse. The staff was unfriendly and just herded me through like so much livestock. The dentists didn't even stick around to answer questions, and the bill, I mean THE BILL. They told me that I needed $2,000.00 worth of work, and when I told the lady I would have to do a little bit at a time for the sake of finances, she all but rolled her eyes at me. i had two cavities filled, one of which I had to have worked on 3 times bacause of the pain it caused me. Sadly, it had been so long that I just figured that was how it was. After thinking about it, though, I decided to try another dentist in the area. Today, I went to the South Omni Dental Group and had a fabulous experience. They were friendly, efficient, and they told me that I didn't need any of the work that Castle said I did. I spent half the amount for my checkup, as well. All this leads me to one question: If I don't have 5 more

Do Not Go! And if you do..Don't Wear Your Jewelry! 6/15/2008

I went to Castle Dental on S.Lamar. to have some work done regarding my gums. First I was 5 months pregnant and they still gave me X-rays, even uncovered without protection when there was a big sign that stood over us that stated If you are Pregnant stop now! I repeatedly asked if they were sure everything would be OK and they assured me it would be. I should have stopped them but I didn't. Then when I did the X-rays they asked me to place my ear rings in a plastic cup. So I did. Well among everything that was going on I forgot to ask for my earrings back, when I did, they had mysteriously disappeared. Then they told me that they do not ask people to place there jewelry in plastic cups when taking X-rays. Well Brandon did! I have not delivered my baby yet Im only 6 months and so far so good, but if anything happens b/c of those x-rays and them not protecting my properly, they will have the biggest lawsuit on their hands EVER!!! more

if you need long term dental care and maintaince consider going somewhere else 5/7/2008

Just like the earlier review, I too really dislike this Tracy person. I experienced her work as sloppy and her bedside manner as indifferent. I really felt that my teeth got worse, even though she examined and "cleaned" them. Her efforts were minimal. I got the suspicion that her poor work led to increased dental bills and needing more procedures. Scam? I'm not sure, but I decided to put my money and time somewhere else. Pros: convenience location Cons: poor quality of work more
