When my husband and I first started talking about getting married and what we wanted for rings, we knew we wanted something classic and elegant and decided upon an emerald cut diamond as the centerpiece for the engagement ring. Initially, we thought we wanted a three stone ring (all emerald cut) in a platinum setting. Believe it or not, we searched high and low looking in at least ten other jewelry stores in the Austin and surrounding areas. Long story short, none were to be found. Apparently, emerald cut diamonds are not the norm and more difficult to find. I had heard of Calvin's and the high quality jewelry they had, but was honestly a little intimidated to go check it out because I thought they might be out of our price range. Boy was I wrong! When we went to Calvin's, we were greeting immediately by a knowledgeable sales person. She sat down and spoke with us about what we were looking for and had some valuable suggestions for us. She explained all the technical things we might want to keep in mind during our selections process from the design of the setting to such things as the cut, clarity, etc. As she brought a selections of rings for us to view and try on. The first was exactly what we had been looking for...a three stone emerald cut diamond ring in a platinum setting. Although my heart had been set on this style of ring as I tried it on, I felt it was too much. Feeling a little discouraged, she asked if I had thought of just a solitaire for the simple elegance. I told her I thought it might be too simple, but I would be willing to take a look. When I tried on the ring she brought me...a simple emerald cut solitaire on a platinum band...both my husband and I gasped. It was PERFECT!! It along with a simple platinum band made for a stunning ring, a happy bride and an even happier groom! Now that we had the setting and knew what we wanted, my husband went back on a separate visit to select the actual diamond for the ring. The sales person again, was very knowledgeable and walked him through the selection process answering all his questions to great satisfaction. We have made a few additional purchases including our wedding bands. Calvin's provides a great selection of settings and stones and price points to fit any budget. They are now the first place I will go when wanting to make a jewelry purchase. more

I went to Calvin's to replace my lost wedding ring. I was looking for a local jeweler with great customer service. I found it! I met Kathy on my first visit. She showed me the variety of designers they carry and helped me narrow my choices. Kathy was a real pleasure to work with. She took her time and also showed me diamonds within our budget. My husband and I went back a few days later to look at what I had chosen. He felt the same about Calvin's as I did and we purchased my ring. They had my ring sized and ready in one day and I love it! I first visited Calvin's in mid-July 2011. Calvin's was the first of many jewelry stores that I was visiting that day to start my hunt for an engagement ring. Boy did I hit a home run on the first store. Jacqueline was a pleasure to work with. From the first ring she showed me to the final ring I purchased, she was a pleasure to work with. She was extremely supportive and interested in my engagement which helped made the process enjoyable and stress-free. I especially appreciated how she stayed in contact to see how my ring hunting was going but was NEVER at any time pushy or persistent about the sale. My husband originally purchased my diamond in a solitaire setting from a family jeweler in his hometown, but after he proposed he wanted me to choose my own setting. We searched for over a year and finally found the perfect setting at Calvin's! We also purchased my husband's wedding band and made my old setting into a gemstone ring. Jacqueline was absolutely wonderful to work with! I know I wasn't easy to work with and had a lot of questions and concerns, but she was there every step of the way to make sure we were happy. My name is Eric and I recently got engaged to my best friend Amy. All thanks to Calvin's fine Jewelry with the help of Angelica! I didn't know anything about rings or diamonds and she taught me everything I needed to know about buying a great diamond and she did not even push me on buying something to outrageous. We were looking for a ring for my wife. The staff here was courteous, knowledgeable, and helpful. At other jewellery stores, the sales could get a touch pushy after some time, but at Calvin's the atmosphere was very relaxed, and customer-focused. We took a while to deliberate on what we needed, and left our number. After a polite 5-7 day interval, we got a call from the store asking if we had decided and wanted to come back. We did! The overall sales experience was very pleasant. When we finally bought the ring, they had it resized for us within 2 hours, so that we got it before the long weekend. They are very willing to work with you, and clearly care about their business and customers. Would recommend to any of our friends. more

Angelica was truly amazing at helping my husband and I pick out our wedding rings. She has excellent taste and a great eye for what looks good on each individual. Calvin's Jewelry has a beautiful and elegant selection of jewelry. The atmosphere is wonderful - no pressure, relaxing and all of the employees were very helpful and nice. Just wanted to give a big thank you to Jacqueline for all her help yesterday! To say I was a bit nervous and overwhelmed when I walked into the store would be a gross understatement. However, in between, she made the experience of purchasing an engagement ring as relaxing and easy as possible. I appreciate her guidance and advice more than she can imagine. My fiance and I ended up paying for our wedding by ourselves, on minimum wage salaries. We wanted the simplest wedding rings we could find. We quickly found out, even a plain metal band is expensive! We frequented every jewelry store in town trying to find plain silver wedding bands. However, every ring was out of our price range. Calvin's Fine Jewelry was a godsend for us. They worked with our budget, and they spent hours helping us comb through our options. They treated us like we were real people. After such a journey of driving around and telling people our budget in shame, Calvin's treated us just the same as the couple next to us, who spent a fortune. There truly is no discrimination in this place. They were super polite, and they provided us with unlimited tiny bottles of free water during our stay. The atmosphere is elegant, yet comfortable. There are beautiful photographs of wedding couples all over the walls. The glass cases have stained wood edges. It's very intimate and inviting. The staff is wonderful, and they will work with you no matter what your budget is. Even if you only have $150 dollars to spend, they can find you a plain metal band. Once my fiance and I decided upon rings, they steamed and examined the prongs on my engagement ring for free. They say I can return at any time to get it steamed or have the prongs re-examined. My fiance ended up getting a shiny metal band. They said that if he changes his mind and wants it brushed at any time, he can come back and they'll change it for free. They called me two days later and said the rings they ordered for us had arrived. I couldn't believe it was so quick! The entire staff was so friendly and personal. They really get to know you and share in your joy. If you go to Calvin's Fine Jewelry, which is the only place I will ever shop for jewelry again, you should ask for Leah. She is such a sweetheart! She was super nice to us, and she really spent a lot of time trying to find our best option and make sure we were happy with it. She's really nice, and if you're not sure what you're doing, she'll lead you in the right direction. One thing people don't think about is, when you've never been ring shopping before, it can be a strange and nervous thing. My wife and I married last fall in a civil wedding and exchanged wedding bands. Although the bands had sentimental value I continued to search for the perfect engagement ring for my wife. After 6 months I had almost given up. We could never find those truly unique rings that catch your eye the first time you see them. Calvins turned the stress of buying 'The ring' into a truly pleasurable experience. As a first time buyer of an engagement ring, neither my fiancee or I really knew what it was we were looking for, all we knew was that we'd know when we saw it. We had previously visited two other jewellery stores in Austin. In the first we were treated to an impersonal sales pitch that answered none of our questions and confused us with supposedly different options that all looked the same. In the second, we were told what we should buy, and had to repeatedly defend our position for not wanting to take out a loan, and left feeling like we had just wasted everybody's time. The moment we arrived at Calvins it was a completely different experience. We were asked what we were after, and as we still didn't know, were then given a thorough overview of the options available (including the pro's and cons of the different metals and even a 'leaflet' guide explaining the different types of diamond color, clarity, cuts, etc). We discussed our budget, and then were shown about 4 separate cabinets of jewellery that matched our criteria. Rather than trying to increase our spend, Jacqueline and Kathy both helped us find the best designs for our budget. My fiancee and I could not be happier with the rings we now have and I am absolutely convinced we could not have found more perfect designs, or got more for our money anywhere else. A huge thank you to Calvin's for helping us enjoy this aspect of our engagement by not treating us simply as 'more dollars' that walked in the door.
