Great place! , Great brews!, Great food!, Great staff!

Worst

Maybe it's because I'm a reformed smoker... but why can't these pubs get some decent ventiliation? The Cherry Cricket did it. It went from one of the smokiest to a very tolerable ...

Very cool little spot 4/19/2011

If you like places that aren't that crowded and have great drinks then you will love this place. They have a great beer selection and I always find myself trying something new every time I come in. more

Good Bar Food 11/28/2010

I used to live down the road from Bull & Bush, so I have had varying experiences here, but in general, it's a great bar with good bar food and a cozy atmosphere. more

I don't know what people are complaining about... 12/29/2009

I honestly cannot for the life of me figure out why there are so many people on here saying that everything about this place is horrible. I'd suspect that either they're not very familiar with brew pubs and breweries, or their standards are set way too high and they're closed off to trying anything new. As for people complaining about service, I'm willing to bet they were either there during a busy time of day or were expecting way too much out of their servers. My husband and I recently went to Bull & Bush with a friend, our first time there, to try their brews and have some lunch. While I can't say that any of us are beer experts, and we don't brew ourselves, my husband and I are beer nerds, as we call ourselves. We love beer. Good beer. We've been to a ton of local breweries and brew pubs here in Colorado, and are wanting to eventually visit them all. We've had some really bad beer and some really good beer, and Bull & Bush's brews rank towards the top of the list of good beer. Some of their beers are a little different; they had a Yule Fuel Lambic that was very unique, and while I wasn't keen on it my husband loved it. We all loved their Dunkelweiss, which is very tasty, and my husband loved their Man Beer. We both felt their beer was well-brewed, anyone saying otherwise might have gotten a bad batch, or perhaps doesn't know as much about beer as they think. Who knows. As for their food, it's a little different as well. Yes, their burgers are served on rolls, not buns. I don't see why anyone would complain about something so petty. While my burger was slightly overcooked, I'm used to this as I like my burgers to be very pink in the middle. Not many places are able to do that, and some places flat out won't. But if it's a good burger, it doesn't matter if it's slightly overcooked. This was a good burger. None of us had any complaints about the food. My husband had their ""Bullrito"", which he said was excellent, and our friend got their Quesadilla, which is enormous, and he seemed to enjoy as well since he finished the whole thing. I'd also have to say that the service was wonderful. Our server was very friendly and attentive. She was always stopping by to check on us as she'd be heading back and forth from the bar to her other tables, asking if the food was all right or if we needed more beer. And while it did sometimes take a while for her to get our drinks, every time she came out with drinks she was carrying pints for more than one table. Anyone who would complain about waiting on drinks when a server is getting drinks for multiple tables is just a jerk. Overall Bull & Bush was a great brew pub in my opinion, and I really feel that anyone else who enjoys going to brew pubs and breweries would enjoy it as well. Pros: All around a good Brew Pub Cons: Not really anything more

Good Stuff 9/8/2009

Good beer, VERY inconsistent service 8/12/2009

I really like these guys' beer. I think most all the choices are good, sometimes great. That being said, their food is all-around decent. Nothing great. The menu is aiight. It is limited and most of the choices are sub-par. The fish&chips are fine, the burgers are great....and that's all I got. The rest is too inconsistent to comment further upon. I've been to this place about 10 times and I would say that I've had great service one time, acceptable service 2 times, and UNACCEPTABLY HORRIBLE service the other 7 times. I wish I were exaggerating, but I'm not. The service here is very inconsistent, usually horrible. It's been so bad that I would suggest you visit it once so you can taste the beer. You'll find that you won't want to return to these people. TIP TO THE OWNERS: Fire/rehire your wait staff and figure out the inconsistent kitchen as well. . . carry on with your beer. Pros: Beer, Burgers Cons: Service, Menu, Inconsistency more

Lousy waitress/service/food 7/4/2009

We have gone there as a group every Sunday night for dinner and jazz music. The last time, we got horribly burned quesadillas, burned to charcoal. when we told the waitress, she very snottily said ""that is the way they're supposed to be"" and walked away. We know what burned is; we have ordered those dozens of times. I'm not sure we'll go back, and if we do, it won't be for food. Pros: good jazz music Cons: terrible service more

Bad Service 5/20/2009

My family has been visiting this restaurant since it opened. My Dad went on his first date with my mother here. We visit on a weekly basis and I often bring friends in for Happy Hour and to introduce them to the neighboorhood pub. Pros: Great Owneres Cons: Inconsistant Service more

Poor quality brews and horrible service... 2/16/2009

First, let me explain that I brew beer and consider myself relatively knowledgeable on the subject. I'm not a professional brewmaster, however. With that in mind, I think the beer they serve at this place is just plain bad. I ordered their ESB and it had so much diacetyl contamination that it tasted like I was eating a rotted stick of butter. Their pale ale suffered from the same problems, but to a lesser extent. Diacetly is common in ales, but the levels in these beers were WAY over those I would consider acceptable. If I had brewed this beer, it would have gone stright down the drain. This type of defect can be caused by bacterial/fungal contamination in the fermenters or high fermentation temps and no 'rest' period to allow the yeast to consume the diacetyl (i.e.: rushing the beer to the glass before its time). Pros: Atmosphere is OK Cons: Bad beer, poor service and mediocre food more

Worst Dining Experience in Denver 1/31/2009

In 10 years of dining out in Denver, I experience the worst dinner ever. There are three meals that no one should be able to screw up: potato skins, mac and cheese and quesadillas. Last night, I had potato skins that were old, cold and inexplicably burned on the bottom. My husband ordered a steak that was dry as beef jerky and yet still cooking when it arrived. My chicken sandwich was charred and tiny, taking up only half of the bun. more

All talk, no substance. 1/23/2009

They do a good job of dressing the place up like a ""British Pub"". The food and ale however, leave much to be desired. more

Love the ambiance 1/20/2009

We had a group of 20+ and I can't say enough good things about the place. The British pub feel was great, it wasn't too noisy, the food looked good, the waiter seemed OK with seperate checks, and the Allgood beer was great. Probably my favorite bar in Denver now. more

Great fries but don't plan to have a large gathering here (even 5+)... 11/21/2008

Amusing sidenote: Citysearch just refused my first version of this review for using the full name of the establishment! I had to reduce to ""B&B"" to get it accepted :) Pros: Food, beers Cons: Service, crowd more

Not for Parties, or good service - don't even try 7/2/2008

In trying to host a gathering here I found the person in charge of large parties the most rude, unhelpful person I have ever spoken with. Even with offering to pay what they would make in a night simply to allow my guests to drink and mingle throughout the bar, she simply replied ""We can't do that."" Obviously they are not in the business of pleasing their customers. I thought the place was unique when I went there to scope it out. But, they were out of my 2 top beer choices, and it took over an hour from the time we ordered to receive our food, and when we were ready to pay and leave the waitress mysteriously disappeared. If you're short on time or a group bigger than 2 find another place to go. Pros: Unique building and decorating Cons: Everything else but the building and decorations more

Meat and Veggies 3/19/2008

I can't believe we never have gone to the B&B before, we moved close by about 6 months ago! Pros: Beer, Food, TV's, Location Cons: Can't smell the sweet smell of fresh brew in the vats more

Great place to go on a cold day! 1/25/2008

Great place to go on a cold day, sit by the fire, play board games, and enjoy great service! Really recommend this place. Pros: Ambience, service, drinks more

Blackened Prime Rib and incredible beers!! 10/12/2007

I sat down with a group of 13 and had a wonderful time! The server wasn't truly on point, but was just above average. She did well enough that it was a mistake to autograt us. Pros: Great beers! Great food! Cons: Quicker service when beers were ordered would have put this brewery in my top25. more

It was...ok 10/1/2007

my husband and I went for dinner on a Saturday night. The food menu wasn't all that impressive. I was nearly out of luck just cuz I wasn't in the mood for a sandwich. I ordered the fish and chips and wasn't overly impressed. The fries were thin, the fish was heavily battered. I also toured their beer taps and their Man Beer IPA was good, but nothing to write home about. The other beers were even less noteworthy. The service and atmosphere were good, but unless they are having a special event, I don't know that we'll go back so soon. more

Excellent service with a smile. Great ambiance. 9/13/2007

A great neighborhood bar with friendly service. Tiffany, Harmony, Jimmy, and Breanne all seem to really appreciate their customers. The managers add to the friendliness. The ambiance is condusive to good conversation and the patio is second to none. Food is reasonably priced for the quality. Pros: Good parking, excellent patio, usually excellent service. Cons: Can get slightly noisy. more

Surprised !! 4/10/2007

When I was younger and wilder.... in the 70's this was a great spot for that hangover bloody Mary and brunch on Sunday morning. Deciding to try it again after not going there for years.... we were very pleasantly surprised. We got there early, 4ish, and its a good thing. This place, like always, gets busy fast. No wonder. Our meal was very good. I had the all you can eat fish and chips. Its hard to ask for more as the portion is generous. Mrs. Food Snob had a salad, fresh and filling. I was surprised that after all these years, it is still clean, friendly and worth regular visits. Pros: timeless coolness more

If it's Friday... 11/20/2006

It must be time for Fish 'n Chips at the B and B. Good food, atmosphere, fun staff and the Fish? Wow. It's hot, the sauce has a kick and then wash it down with a pint of ale and your evening is set. Good patio for larger groups or enjoying the Colorado weather. Good menu besides the fish, this isn't your regular pub fare. Give it a shot! Pros: Great beer, good food, fun staff Cons: Patio gets over-crowded too early, parking more
