Dr. Nancy Wolfe-Sidberry is one of the top physician/surgeon in Brentwood or Tennesse for that matter. While visiting her family medical practice she was very straightforward that her patients come first. I did not mind the wait she is amazing to watch. This doctor took the time to speak with each of her patients before they entered the back rooms. Patients in the waiting room requested to see only Dr. Wolfe-Sidberry even when they were told they would be seen as soon as possible. I never heard a complaint. In speaking with patients they each had their own experience to relate. All I heard were praises. The front desk personnel combined professionalism with compassion. A rare commodity these days. The clinic's hours are to close at six. Doctor Wolfe-Sidberry did not leave until after eight. She had a patient who required authorization for medication. She took care of this not a nurse. Dr. Wolfe-Sidberry is the true definition of Family Practice. She and her staff treat all patients as if they were family! This is reflected in the fact that she has been in business at the Maryland Farms address for 20 years. more

Editorial review from Citysearch 9/2/2012

Although, I do love the nurse practitioner that I see at Brentwood Family Care, I will be changing doctors IMMEDIATELY. I went to the office yesterday (Saturday) about 45 minutes after they closed, having a full blown anxiety attack. The door was locked, so I banged on it. As I was walking away, crying hysterically, someone opened the door. I told her I was having an anxiety attack and needed help. ""The doctor left already."" and she just stared at me. So I responded with ""So WHAT should I do??"" She told me to come inside. I sit down in the waiting area (mind you, I am hysterical)...one lady behind the desk didn't flinch an eye, she kept flipping through medical records not even looking up...she actually looked really annoyed that I was in there. ""The doctor is gone...we can't help you."" (I heard that about four times) So I SCREAMED ""YOU CANT JUST TELL ME THE DOCTOR IS GONE I NEED HELP!!! THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED TO ME BEFORE!! I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO"" I have never been so scared in my life. It was hard for me to breathe..I was practically hyperventilating, hard for me to walk, sweating profusely, and I was extremely lightheaded. NOT ONE PERSON (and three interacted with me) offered ANY type of help...NONE!!! I didn't even get a ""take a deep breath, you'll be ok."" No one offered to call me an ambulance, take me to get help, NOTHING!!!! And this is my DOCTOR'S OFFICE????? I never would expect any of them to administer medication to calm me down, and I didn't even go to the doctor for medication. I have never experienced anything like this, and I was just SCARED. I KNEW I needed help, and my DOCTOR'S OFFICE was the FIRST ""SAFE"" place I could think ok. They couldn't have cared less. I would assume that a doctor's office that charges this much in BRENTWOOD, TN would have better trained staff. This is absolutely unacceptable and I urge ANYONE who is looking for a reputable doctor's office with a caring STAFF to NOT become patients at this office. more

Fantastic practice with a wonderful physician 1/15/2012

I am a Psychiatric nurse practitioner and a patient of Dr. Nancy Wolfe-Sidberry. And I had intended to send a comment to cheezisms directly but I could not list all of my comments in 500 words or less. The bottom line with this commentator is he or she did not get the controlled substances ie valium and xanax that they asked for. I work for a large group of Psychiatrists and I doubt seriously that any reputalbe psychiatrist criticized Dr Wolfe for increasing a depressed patients dose of antidepressant and adding a medication to relieve GI distress. Every Psychiatrist that I work with does that every day. depending og the med 4-25% of the standard antidepressants cause GI distress and patients will frequently stop there meds if they develop an upset stomach. The syndrome you are talking about is most likey something known as long QT which is a sudden rapid arrythmia that can lead to cardiac arrest. There are 2 forms congenital and aquired. Both are rare. Aquired can be caused by drugs. Antihistamine, decongestants, antibiotics, heart meds, almost all psychiatric medications, diabetes meds, stomach meds and cholesterol meds. As previously stated it is rare and many more people would die if we did not prescribe any of these meds to control their chronic diseases. But it can also occur just from have nausea, vomiting and diarrhea, thyroid problems and any of the eating disorders. I discussed this with the Physicians that I work with on a daily basis and there was not one who stated that they had any doubts about Dr wolfe-Sidberry's knowledge base. They considerd her to be one of the best diagnostic physicians in this community. They stated that it is routine to prescribe these meds together and their concern would not be with her but with the knowledge base and ethics of a Psychiatrist who would make such an outrageously inappropriate comment to a patient. They all stated that they doubted that this even happened. They felt that it was more likely an embellishment on your part because you did not get what you wanted. Let me echo what many people on various sites state about Dr. Nancy Wolfe-Sidberry and express what I personally feel about her. She is a wondeful doctor. She takes excellent care of her patients. She will be open and honest with you about anything. She does not write controlled substances on demand. She does not prescribe Benzo's at all (xanax, valium, ativan, etc). She always says that if you are ill enough to need those meds you need a psychiatrist. It has not impacted on her practice therefore if you are looking for those meds just go somewhere else. If you want a good doctor go there. more

Not Trustworthy 12/24/2011

Dr Sidberry talked extensively about TN law and how she does not get involved with prescribing anything for anxiety, such as Xanax or Valium. I was happy to hear this because I didn't think my family member needed it anyway. However, she then proceeded to increase a dose of a current prescription for an anti depressant and then write another script for heartburn medication. When I took my family member to the Psychiatrist two days later, I was informed that the dosage of anti depressant along with the heartburn meds has been discovered to be causing fatal arhythmias in patients and that any doctor prescribing them should already know about this. So, it seems that Dr Sidberry is definitely well read when it comes to keeping herself out of trouble with doctor shoppers but not so much on making sure she's not prescribing fatal cocktails of other scripts. She either isn't current in her prescription drug knowledge or just doesn't care. Either way, I won't be trusting my loved ones in her care again. more

Will be switching doctors 9/2/2011

I used to like Dr. Sidberry, but I called for a routine prescription to be filled and they would not do it unless I came in for an exam. When I asked why they had no real answer. I currently do not have insurance and did not feel like shelling out a ton of money just to get a prescription filled. Going elsewhere! more

I love it when people lie 1/13/2011

I have known Dr. Wolfe for more than 20 years. I have been her patient for at least that long. As a matter of fact my whole family goes to her. I continually recommend my friends and family to her office and I cannot believe the crap the two preceeding whacko's have written. First of all they are probably the same person as the reviews were written on the same day. Am I the only one who reconized that. Additionally local wife mom who states she works in the medical professional is an idiot. I would love to know what she does in the medical profession. I have been an RN working in every area of the hospital from critical care to the ER and no doctor promises a patient 1 test. And any doctor who would agree to only run 1 test on a patient would not be a physician worth seeing. How can you tell what is wrong with a person who has adominal pain when you do one test. This person obviously has no medical knowledge and very limited intelligence. Obviously she tried to control the doctor and became angry when the doctor said no. Dr Wolfe does the best she can for her patients and she does not allow the patients to direct her care. That is not her style. You will not get what you want but you will get what you need and that is why she has so many awards. These two (actually one) complainers need to go to medical school, learn what it takes to make a diagnosis, finish a residency, pass the boards and then treat themselves. And if their issues involve fake pain and or anxiety issues for the purpose of securing controlled subtances please go somewhere else. She does not do that. And if she was in any way rude to you I know that it was because you ""demanded"" something you should not have. In all the years that I have known her the only time I have seen her upset with a patient was when they attempted to con her out of pain meds and or ""nerve pills"". She may be a short little woman but she has no fear. So hear this: Dr. Wolfe is a great doctor. She gives away more in healthcare than she ever gets paid for. She has a very large and devoted patient following and we do not want crazy, non bill paying, dead beat, drug addict patients upsetting our doctor. more

Don't listen the the negative reviews 9/27/2010

I have been a patient at Brentwood Family Care clinic since 2006 and have ALWAYS been treated with respect and care. I'll admit that Dr. Wolfe-Sidberry is not the friendliest woman you'll ever meet, however, all the nurse practioners there are FABULOUS! I typically see Dr. Karen Rosenthal or Dr. Hesselrode and they are fantastic and even have Saturday hours! My husbands hadn't seen a doctor in 10 years because of several bad experiences, however, after he met Mary (Dr. hesselrode) he no longer fears going to the doctor. They are never afraid to listen to what you have to say and they are never afraid to admit when your issue goes beyond their expertise and need a referral to a specialist. Before I met them I was 410 lbs, my cholesterol was 350, my blood pressure was through the roof and my average blood sugars were in the 300's. Through their help over the past 5 years i'm down to 280 lbs, my cholesterol is 180, my blood pressure is stable and my sugars are under the diabetic range. If I call and leave a message at the nurse station I ALWAYS get a call back by the end of the day. If I have blood work done I ALWAYS get a personal call with my results and recommendations within 3-4 days. If I am sick and need an appointment they will ALWAYS make sure I am seen that day. They have a full time phlebotomist so you needle phobics need not be afraid. They even have a seperate waiting room for adults and then adults with children that has toys (yay)! I have NEVER had a problem with billing in 5 years. If I get a bill for something I shouldn't they simply say ""we'll take care of it"" and they DO! more

Billing Department doesn't know what they are doing 6/24/2010

Office Experience: I went to Brentwood Family Care Center for what I suspected to be a spider bite on my wrist. They got me in pretty fast, so that was good. The staff is professional to the point of having little to no personality. The Nurse Practitioner that saw me was friendly enough, but didn't have any answers. The overall office experience was okay. Billing Experience: It took them about 3 months to send me a bill and it was completely wrong. They had not applied any of the insurance adjustments and billed me for a charge insurance didn't pay. I would not complain if I owe this money, but I do not. The insurance company needs information from Brentwood Family, not my responsibility. I sent them a check for the amount my insurance says I owe with a note indicating the reason I did not pay the full amount of their bill. They held my check for a month and didn't try to contact me. I had to call them and play phone tag for 2 weeks to talk to someone. I thought I had this straightened out then I got a bill today stating I owe them $141.01. Insurance says I owe them $21.25. It baffles me that after talking to the billing department that my bill is STILL WRONG. The most infuriating part of this bill is the handwritten note saying ""Past Due, Please Pay"". I don't owe them anything at this time. I find it pretty sad that I have to tell them how to do their job. I will not be back to this clinic. A note to everyone: Check your insurance Explanation of Benefits before you pay the doctor. It seems to me that doctors offices want you to pay more than you owe. This experience is not unique to this clinic. I have had to battle it out with Summit and other doctors offices. DO NOT PAY ANY AMOUNT OVER WHAT YOUR INSURANCE SAYS YOU OWE! Pros: Close to my work Cons: Bad billing practices, No Communication more

One of the best... 8/27/2009

One of the best family clinics I've been too, but not for people who want a doctor to gives people unnecessary the meds they think they need. Dr. Wolfe is wonderful and truly cares about me and my family. Shes been my doctor since I was a kid. In fact without her help my mother wouldn't be around today, However she is going to tell you the truth and not baby you. Take a page from Micheal Jackson's book and be happy about that. Nashvillegirl- your story sounds weak at best, actually it doesn't make sense at all. ""Yes, you have pains?Ah ha Infertility must be the reason!"" You've got to be kidding me! Was it possibly because you didn't get the pain pills you were wanting? Also, speaking from someone who has seen several specialist, the chances of you getting your results in 24hours are slim. I've had to wait up to a week up north (where unfortunately where I've moved for school), and the ultra sound was done in the same medical complex! If you don't want to see a nurse practitioner or wait then make an appointment like everywhere else, and if you think you have ability to self diagnose then perhaps you should consider going to med school. Otherwise, try this place. I don't think Dr.Wolfe is taking new patients anymore, but some of the other Docs are. Martha is wonderful and level headed. So, if you get to see her by glad! Oh by the way... Dr. Wolfe was in the hospital and almost passed in March and April of 2008 so savanh and INgirl how could you have seen her? Pros: Great care, will go the extra mile Cons: Waits can be long becasuse its such a busy clinic more

Brentwood Family Care is a Great Place for Healthcare 10/26/2008

I am a patient at Brentwood Family care and have been so for many years. The staff is professional and Dr. Wolfe-Sidberry is both professional and caring. She however will not give patients what they ask for but rather what she thinks they need. She is not free with narcotics and will not authorize unnecessary referrals. She is staightforward in her comunications with patients and is not patronizing. If you are looking for a doctor who will allow you to direct your care and will give you everything you want you should not go there. I read two of the above critiques and I disagee totally. I do not feel that there is a better place for health care. Pros: Quick Appts, Good Care more

Caring doctor, nurses, and staff. 5/7/2008

Dr. Wolfe-Sidberry is a great family doctor. She takes time to discuss everything with you. They have you come in a week before your physical for your blood-work, so she can have the results back in time to discuss them with you at the physical. The nurses and nurse practitioners are great too. The only draw back is sometimes you have to wait. But generally if you have an appointment, the waiting is not too bad. Pros: Caring, discusses/explains everything with you Cons: wait - sometimes more

I agree with Nashvillegirl 3/26/2008

I would have to agree completely with Nashville girl. After moving to the Nashville area, I was eager to find a doctor for continuous treatment of my severe migraines. A friend who is a pharmaceutical sales rep referred me to Dr. Wolfe. She stated that she is rude to the sales reps, but based on an article posted in the office, Dr. Wolfe had received great patient reviews - plus she was less than a block away from my office. I was extremely disappointed at my initial appointment. Dr. Wolfe was abrupt, invasive and extremely inappropriate in many of her comments about my condition and previous treatment. She indicated that I would just have to deal with my headaches and just muster through. I had to repeatedly ask for referrals and provide her with insight on alternative treatments such as visiting an Ear, Nose & Throat doctor. After further research, I located another doctor who has been instrumental in setting up a regimen that significantly decreased the severity and frequency of my headaches. The front desk staff was extremely unapproachable, however, most of the nurses/aids were very nice. Pros: location and availabilty of appointment times Cons: RUDE! more

Would and Have Recommended to everyone 1/17/2008

I've never written a review before but felt compelled to after seeing the bad review left by someone below. Pros: Great healthcare practice devoted to patients Cons: none I can think of. more

A Gifted and effective medical staff 12/30/2007

Great Primary Care Clinic 7/9/2007

I was a bit shocked to read nashville gal's review. I have been going to Brentwood Family Care Clinic for some time, and I have enjoyed my care there. The physicians and PAs there seem to really be good at ruling out ""bad stuff"", and the rest of the staff is kind and curteous. Pros: Professional Staff, Short Wait Time, Mostly Female Staff Cons: Older Building more

Love to scare you! 3/12/2007

I was having abdominal pains and was also trying to get pregnant. At my first visit, Dr. Wolfe said ""Most people suggest you go to a specialist, but I can get more from insurance, so you should have me treat you."" That seemed odd, but I ignored it. She then said my pains suggested I had damaged ovaries that would likely never produce children. She said I would need a surgery or two to attempt to repair them and sent me for an ultrasound to check things out. The day after the ultrasound, no phone call. The next day, I kept calling and calling and no response. I finally went over there and a nurse said ""Oh, you just have an ovarian cyst. You're fine."" I am SOOOO glad the doctor scared me saying I would likely never have kids. Pros: able to get an appointment quickly Cons: scared me to death with misdiagnosis more
