Review content:
I am a Psychiatric nurse practitioner and a patient of Dr. Nancy Wolfe-Sidberry. And I had intended to send a comment to cheezisms directly but I could not list all of my comments in 500 words or less. The bottom line with this commentator is he or she did not get the controlled substances ie valium and xanax that they asked for. I work for a large group of Psychiatrists and I doubt seriously that any reputalbe psychiatrist criticized Dr Wolfe for increasing a depressed patients dose of antidepressant and adding a medication to relieve GI distress. Every Psychiatrist that I work with does that every day. depending og the med 4-25% of the standard antidepressants cause GI distress and patients will frequently stop there meds if they develop an upset stomach.
The syndrome you are talking about is most likey something known as long QT which is a sudden rapid arrythmia that can lead to cardiac arrest. There are 2 forms congenital and aquired. Both are rare. Aquired can be caused by drugs. Antihistamine, decongestants, antibiotics, heart meds, almost all psychiatric medications, diabetes meds, stomach meds and cholesterol meds. As previously stated it is rare and many more people would die if we did not prescribe any of these meds to control their chronic diseases. But it can also occur just from have nausea, vomiting and diarrhea, thyroid problems and any of the eating disorders. I discussed this with the Physicians that I work with on a daily basis and there was not one who stated that they had any doubts about Dr wolfe-Sidberry's knowledge base. They considerd her to be one of the best diagnostic physicians in this community. They stated that it is routine to prescribe these meds together and their concern would not be with her but with the knowledge base and ethics of a Psychiatrist who would make such an outrageously inappropriate comment to a patient. They all stated that they doubted that this even happened. They felt that it was more likely an embellishment on your part because you did not get what you wanted. Let me echo what many people on various sites state about Dr. Nancy Wolfe-Sidberry and express what I personally feel about her. She is a wondeful doctor. She takes excellent care of her patients. She will be open and honest with you about anything. She does not write controlled substances on demand. She does not prescribe Benzo's at all (xanax, valium, ativan, etc). She always says that if you are ill enough to need those meds you need a psychiatrist. It has not impacted on her practice therefore if you are looking for those meds just go somewhere else. If you want a good doctor go there.
