I stayed here once when June Lake Pines was all booked one winter weekend and I'm glad I stayed here. Its a very simple and casual place to stay. I had the bottom floor looking away from the highway, which was a cool spot. The rooms are your basic type with microwave, tv, mini fridge, and coffee maker. Don't expect high end or fancy stuff when staying here. Its a good place to sleep, shower, and keep your belongings when your checking out June Mountain. more

We were lucky to find Boulder Lodge - as we didn't have a reservation and were in desperate need of a nice, clean, quiet room when we arrived at 8:45 pm. When we drove by and saw the pool, we decided to stop. So glad we did.\r \r We were greeted by 2 friendly ladies at the front desk. When we explained our need, we were kindly shown to 2 rooms - each with a lake view. We chose #207 - with a queen bed and a small patio. When we woke up after a restful night's sleep, we opened the curtains to a lovely view of June Lake.\r \r The room was clean, decorated in a rustic fashion, and perfectly suited for our needs.\r \r Since we really wanted to swim before we checked out, we were given a late checkout. We had the lovely, clean indoor pool and hot tub to ourselves - and felt very refreshed when we checked out.\r \r Highly recommend for a simple, relaxing stay - with easy parking out our front door. The parking area and grounds are well kept and spacious.\r \r The whole experience left us with a warm and happy feeling. more

On our road trip from Kansas City to San Francisco and back, we wanted to hit up as much as we could. Yosemite was obviously on the list and on the way there, we encountered a detour that brought us to the Mammoth Lakes area, without making reservations anywhere because we had no clue when we'd be arriving, we just started looking around for nearby places. Yosemite camping was kind of out of the question because it was supposed to be 34 degrees that night and we didn't have that strong of an urge to catch pneumonia. Since there wasn't much in sight we noticed the June Lake loop. Since it was only a short loop around back to the highway, we thought we'd see if we could find somewhere to stay. As we came around the hill and could see June Lake, our jaws dropped. We knew this was it. The Boulder Lodge was so cute that we snapped a few pictures on the way, decided to explore a little and made it to the cutest town we'd ever been to. We stopped into Ernie's Tackle and Ski shop, and found a Huskers fan that told us Boulder lodge was our best bet. As we sort of awkwardly walked into the office to see about a room, we received a great discount on the room and opted for the lake view because...why wouldn't we want to look at that gorgeous view? The room was spotless, vintage but adorable, the balcony was huge with three lounge chairs and the view was absolutely breathtaking. The next morning we woke up to six deer wading in the water and a bald eagle landed in the trees in front of us. The trip was over and hands down June Lake was the best place we visited. In fact, I would move there today and never look back. more

I've been up here a couple of times with friends. We normally rent a cabin facing the lake.\r It's a great place to escape to from San Fran or LA. the cabins have full kitchens so you can cook your catch of fresh trout and eat them on the patio out front\r \r Unique Quality: This for me is where I like to veg out...beer in hand and lake in my face. The staff is friendly and it's close to some good fishing more

We have been going to Boulder Lodge for over 35 years. I first stopped there for information because of the perfect location. It has become our home-away-from-home. My children have grown up with wonderful life-long memories of Boulder Lodge. We have mostly stayed in 3 bedroom suites, but have also been happy in the 5 bedroom cabin, apartments and separate motel rooms. We always pick lake view lodging. The only reason we did not go this summer is because my dad (the avid fisherman in the family) passed away and all of the great memories here make me too sad to go. Through the years, our family (sometimes we have had enough family to fill 3 full suites) has enjoyed the pool, tennis courts, playground, loved the balcony view, cooked many meals in well-stocked kitchens, the dock, liked the access to ice and fish cleaning, convenient location to the beach and owners and office staff have become friends. I am very grateful for having found Boulder Lodge so many years ago as our trips there have been the highlight of our summers. I indicated that we traveled with young children, however, we have traveled with infants, teenagers, adults and extended family as well... more

I frequent June Mountain often but stayed there for the first time this past weekend. The place is cozy and was roomier then I expected which is refreshing compared to chain motels I'm use to in Mammoth. The decor is pretty old school but who cares when the heater works, the lake view is gorgeous, and the staff is friendly. Oh, they have a few beautiful dogs that are so friendly to visitors. The indoor jacuzzi and pool was AWESOME. There's nothing like a hard day of carving on the mountains then a dip in the hot tub. I plan to stay here every time I'm snowboarding with my friends at June Mountain. more

Owned and operated by the kindest people in the world. My girlfriend and I booked a room for 4 days well in advance of our vacation and were sadly disappointed to discover that by the time we checked in (in mid December) the snow had still not come. We stayed the first night (good room, well-heated, with a great lakeside view), but decided to cut our stay short, leaving the following evening for Mount Hood in Oregon for a full week of snowboarding. I expected we would have to pay the full price of the 4 nights we reserved, and was just hoping we could get at least a night taken off. Instead, they went further and took two nights off and only charged us for the two days we occupied the room. The owners were super nice and charming and I very much look forward to staying at Boulder Lodge next winter when, hopefully, there will be plenty of fresh snow. more

My only hesitation in giving the Boulder Lodge my absolute best recommendation is that I don't want to find it full next time I want to stay there.\r \r I've been there three times in the last year. Every time, the staff was unbelievably friendly and accommodating, offering to hold rooms when we were calling in from far away and stopping for dinner, warning us in advance about weather and road conditions, and making a point of trying to save us money on more economical rooms even when they were the last ones left for miles around and the staff could have easily put the screws on us. \r \r It's true that the rooms are somewhat older, but I call it cozy. If you want a sterile block of concrete for $300 a night, go to Mammoth. Yes, I did see a mouse once. Know what? You're at 7,000 feet in the mountains. There are no mice in the Motel 6 in Cleveland.\r \r The view of June Lake from the rooms is gorgeous, the air is fantastic, the heat always works well, the pool is fine, the hotel's own fishing dock is fabulous, the fish cleaning area is the best I've seen and doesn't even smell. I stop off there to fish or after coming down the Tioga Pass between Yosemite and Mono Lake/Death Valley, but I see lots of families there just having a good time.\r \r Oh, and just one more thing, since a couple of other reviewers ragged on the staff: last time I was there, we had three rooms with European visitors. When we checked out, we casually mentioned that we were heading for Death Valley.\r \r Ten hours later, we checked into our rooms in Death Valley. There was a phone message waiting for us from Boulder Lodge that my mother-in-law had left a small wallet with $700 in euros in the room. \r \r But we never told them where we were staying (and we actually all have four different last names and were taking turns making reservations under different names and paying with different credit cards). So how in the world did they find us? Quite simple - they called every single lodging in the entire Death Valley area with our descriptions several times throughout the day, checking in to see if we showed up.\r \r That's the kind of people who run the Boulder Lodge. I can't wait to get back. more

Don't expect a Hampton Inn. Do expect to look out your window in the morning and see a doe and her babies, a rabbit, stellar jays roaming the property. Do take time to enjoy June Lake right on the property. Use this very, very rustic basic lodging for a base to visit an incredible area. We had a kitchen so saved lots of money eating in. The owners are wonderful. The night before our group of 13 was to arrive for a 6 night stay in Yosemites Curry Village we learned of 2 deaths from possible Hantavirus. We called Nancy at Boulder Lodge after 8pm and she worked with us to arrange lodging at a price less than we paid at Curry Village. At Curry Village we had to walk to bathrooms and line up for showers and of course no kitchens. Compared to those accommodations we felt we were in plush accommodations. more

We stay here every December for our Anniversary. It is in the perfect location to head into town or a short 15 minute drive into Mammoth. There is skiing nearby as well as renting snow mobiles off of the 395 (weather permitting). 2 years ago was so much snow in December and I think was a record. We love heading down the road to Carson Peak Inn for dinner! The pool is excellent as we have run across the parking lot in the freezing cold in bathing suits and Ugg boots to an indoor pool and spa! Great time! more

I have been going to the June Lake area for over 60 years. For many of those I have thought about staying at Boulder Lodge. This month we finally made the decision to spend 9 days as part of our vacation there and we are sure glad we did. The Lodge is older but very comfortable and extremely clean. In addition, the staff is courteous and friendly. We are looking forward to staying at Boulder Lodge again next year. Over the years we have always camped or RV'd. Now when we are in our favorite fishing area we will stay at Boulder. more

I spent over 20 years in the Hotel Industry and found the following to be so true.\r \r Hospitality does not start with the age or condition of the property. It starts with the people, and these folks are the most accommodating I have seen in the industry for quite some time.\r \r The property is an older style rustic lodge, however it is very clean, the linens and towels are of great quality. We had the 1 bedroom with kitchen, and it was very comfortable. The views are great with a Bald Eagle hanging out in a tree off our balcony all week. The snowfall was an added bonus and made our week of snowmobiling great. This is the best place to stay for the lake views. So much snow that it was not worth going out for 2 days, and the room was a great place to hang out. The lobby area was warm with a fire going, spa and steam room ready for use. Pool closed for the winter and this was understandable.\r \r Requests were honored with a smile and handled immediately. Call to our room during our stay to see if we needed anything. All staff were friendly and outgoing. Made you feel welcome and that they were very happy to have you as a guest. We had no problem with this property.\r \r If you are looking for the Ritz stay in Mammoth, if you are looking for a great experience with a great staff and owner/Jessalyn. Make your plans to stay here\r \r It is a home away from home. more
