Review content:
On our road trip from Kansas City to San Francisco and back, we wanted to hit up as much as we could. Yosemite was obviously on the list and on the way there, we encountered a detour that brought us to the Mammoth Lakes area, without making reservations anywhere because we had no clue when we'd be arriving, we just started looking around for nearby places. Yosemite camping was kind of out of the question because it was supposed to be 34 degrees that night and we didn't have that strong of an urge to catch pneumonia. Since there wasn't much in sight we noticed the June Lake loop. Since it was only a short loop around back to the highway, we thought we'd see if we could find somewhere to stay. As we came around the hill and could see June Lake, our jaws dropped. We knew this was it. The Boulder Lodge was so cute that we snapped a few pictures on the way, decided to explore a little and made it to the cutest town we'd ever been to. We stopped into Ernie's Tackle and Ski shop, and found a Huskers fan that told us Boulder lodge was our best bet. As we sort of awkwardly walked into the office to see about a room, we received a great discount on the room and opted for the lake view because...why wouldn't we want to look at that gorgeous view? The room was spotless, vintage but adorable, the balcony was huge with three lounge chairs and the view was absolutely breathtaking. The next morning we woke up to six deer wading in the water and a bald eagle landed in the trees in front of us. The trip was over and hands down June Lake was the best place we visited. In fact, I would move there today and never look back.
