Bobby & Steve's Auto World - France Avenue

Hi, I stay in Eden Praiorie. My car did not start. Had a towing appointment with Bobby and steve's. Waited for 2 hours in 90 degrees. The tow truck came I did not see them , they never called and started going back when I saw them. Ram to catch and stopped the guy. The tow truck driver ,a very rude person ,made the excuse that he doe not have my no. and refused to tow the car. Now I am redered car less for the whole of next week. Who is going to pay for rental ? If the towing company does not want to tow, why don't they shut theshop. Why bother people and then refuse to tow. I have called insurance and checked they have my phone no. and correct one too. Absolutely bad service and very rude drivers. Will never use this company again My advice if you are in need do not rely on Bobby and Steve. If there were a rating worse than poor I would rate them that. I went here to have my oil changed and was not happy with the service. One of the guys that changed the oil on my car was nice while the other guy was not friendly at all- it seemed like a red flag to me that they were up to no good. I got my receipt with a recommendation for a part on my car to be fixed because it was ""torn"". I brought my car to an experienced mechanic and he said there was nothing wrong with that part or anything else on the car and that Bobby and Steve's Auto World is known for rip-offs. Either they really don't know what they are doing, or they lie to people to make a profit, or they go ahead and damage car parts to make it look like they were damaged already so you will have them fixed for more money. Even though I didn't end up paying for their lie and there really was nothing wrong with my car, that kind of service is absolutely terrible and I just knew from their behavior I was being deceived. This is the worst experience; ever. Bobby and Steves ignored my request, ran an uneeded set of diagnostics and then forced me to pay to get my car. Talked to the manager and he just talked down to me, was rude and would not even listen to me. Ran a BBB and got the same condesending answers back and they would not work with me at all. Please save yourself the hassle and avoid all Bobby & Steves locations especially the Bloomington store. more

Although most of the Bobby and Steve's locations look nice that's where the positive ends. They tend to be in odd hard to access locations and they overcharge for gas and services. Customer service is lacking too. I had a free car wash that expired on a day it was raining. They would not honor it the next day. In my experience most places would honor it. I would not want these guys working on my car either since I would not trust the level of service one would expect especially when paying a premium for the service. I have not been back since and don't plan on it. more

I'd give them zero stars if I could. Started with a tow scam- took my wife to their location rather than the one that she requested with a promise of a student discount. There was one, but it amounted to about $1.50 off of 400 bucks when all was said and done. Diagnosed the repair and made a part recommendation. We asked them to make sure that the part was chromed, and were assured that it was. It wasn't. Called them to see if they had kept the part, and were told we'd get a call back. We didn't; had to call them again. We finally told them to proceed with the incorrect part. and they told us Friday that work would be done on Monday, yet when I spoke to them on Tuesday they hadn't even ordered the part. Raised Hell and got the work done; told them I wanted the original part back and was assured that it had been placed either in the front seat or the trunk. It wasn't . Called them back and again had to yell to get any sort of action from them. Walked in, grabbed the part off of the floor and walked out without anyone saying a word. Oh, and by the way the part came in 50 bucks more than they quoted. Don't give these guys your business. Don't trust them to honor their word. Don't trust them to take care of your vehicle. How these guys remain in business is beyond me. I see where ""Steve"" has posted here challenging people not to write one sided reviews and pointing to the 1500 customers they service a day. My response to ""Steve"" is to look at the people that have taken the time to write reviews here and to consider whether he really wants to call them out- the vast majority of them DON""T LIKE YOUR COMPANY. You need to take that feedback and make some changes. If you honestly think that you can defend a transaction where the customer tried on three separate occasions to HELP your technicans make the right decision but they still failed to do so, then I believe that says everything that anyone needs to know about Bobby and Steve's Auto World more

Brought in my car for tire rotation a couple weeks' ago. When it came time to put on our winter tires it was determined Bobby & Steve's over torqued the bolts. We had to spend in excess of $250 to have the bolts drilled out by a different shop. When presented with information, Bobby & Steve's would not take responsibility for their error or offer to pay for damage to our vehicle. I would not trust them with my vehicle or to follow up on their labor guarantee more

Took my car to the location on Nicollet in Richfield for an oil change and a ""free"" inspection before leaving on a trip. They found all sorts of things that required urgent attention: including both front and rear brakes. They said that I absolutely had to have the front brakes done and that the rear brakes could maybe go another few thousand miles. I decided to go ahead and let them do the front brakes. Upon my return, I took the car to my own mechanic and asked them to inspect the rear brakes. They told me they were still like new.\r \r BOBBY & STEVE'S CANNOT BE TRUSTED. THEY RIPPED ME OFF. \r \r Find a local, reputable mechanic you and trust and stick with them. more

A couple weeks ago, I noticed a grinding sound when I was using my brakes. I took it into Bobby and Steve's on Nicollet in Minneapolis. They were very friendly at first. I got a call a few hours later and they confirmed what I had suspected--I needed new brake pads. They gave me a quote for over $400 for the front and another $400 for the back. I suspect since I am a young woman, and don't know much about cars, they thought they could take me for a ride and overcharge me. I told them that those were ridiculous prices and would be having the work done elsewhere and I would pick up my car at the end of the day. About 10 minutes later, I received another call from them. They said they had 'accidentally given me the wrong prices,' that 'sometimes their computer gives the wrong prices.' They then gave me a price that was much closer to the estimates I had gotten by calling around other repair places. Unfortunately, at that point I had to have the work done there, or I would've been out $50 (for the ""brake inspection"") and I would've had to wait 2 days for another place to get me into their shop. I had a bad experience, and even after I called to complain, I wasn't really offered any kind of solution for my problem. I will not be returning to this repair shop for any reason. I took my vehichle in because it wouldn't start. They charged me $100 dollars to look at it and diagnose the problem. I was told the ignition coil needed to be replace and the total would be about $460.00. I knew I could buy one for $100 and it takes 30 min to install. So they tow it to my home, and when I open the hood the only thing wrong is that the wire came unplugged from the coil. Really??? for $100.00 they couldn't even open the hood and notice that. Or were they just going to over charge me for a new part even though it didn't need it? Avoid this place, and go somewhere honest and or competent. Pros: ... Cons: Not very knowledgeable, over charge for simple fixes. more

I was towed in through AAA emergency roadside services. Completely and totally satisfied with their towing and service. Very prompt. EXCELLENT times two!!! Pros: Everything Cons: Nothing more

On 3/8/10 I had the unfortunate mishap of my car breaking down. I was picking up my father in law from the airport and on our way back home to WI. I called my insurance company to have a tow and was given a quote of 25 minutes for a truck to arrive. To our surprise the truck arrived in 10. We were also quoted $105 to tow it to a local shop in S. St. Paul. The driver offered to take our car to Bobby and Steves in Bloomington, MN for only $70 and that we could get in immediately for service. What a savings and blessing for us. They gave me immediate attention once we arrived at the shop. We were taken car of every step of the way, including a free car wash at the end of our visit. The gentlemen Nate who helped us at the show was courteous and straightforward with the diagnosis and quote, and the driver who towed us was very friendly and courteous. I work in the restaurant industry and know how important customer service is. i just wanted to say they did a fantastic job.
