As you look at all of the reviews for this restaurant, you will see a recurrent theme regarding the length of time waiting for a table. First, I don't care where you go at 11:30 on Sunday morning, even Denny's, you are going to be waiting!! This is a unique, SMALL gem of a restaurant with fantastic food served in a ""stress-free"" atmosphere. The wait staff has never been rude or indifferent, they actually have a personality and have a sarcastic, and engaging, sense of humor. There are only about a dozen tables in the entire restaurant, and during peak periods if you are a party of three or more you WILL be waiting while parties of one or two may be seated significantly sooner than you ... because they MAY be seated with their new best friends, previously called ""strangers"", at one of the larger tables with empty seats. It is part of the experience, charm and personality of the place. The food is fantastic and the portions are HUGE. The Cap'n Crunch French Toast is as advertised ... remarkable with mounds of homemade whipped cream. The bacon and sausages are thick cut, prepared perfectly with a slight crunch and the portion sizes leave even the largest appetites satisfied. Every egg dish or omelette is served on a platter that resembles a hub cap, with food falling over the sides. The hash browns are cooked with butter, which gives them a unique taste and texture usually not found in restaurant prepared food. The cinnamon rolls and biscuits are about the size of softballs, and could easily have an entire review just about them !! The local Bluebird blend coffee, served hot and plentiful in bottomless mugs, is worth the trip itself. The Blue Moon Cafe is located in Fells Point, which is the heart of the Baltimore Inner City revival, and the restaurant is surrounded by quirky shops, restaurants and an artisan atmosphere seen in places like Austin, TX and Aspen, CO. A Baltimore original, this place should be on the list of things to do while visiting town.
Pros: Food, ambience, originality
Cons: You will be waiting during peak times
