Trying to rent out a property remotely is ridiculously difficult; when I needed to leave Raleigh for Washington, D.C., thanks to a great work opportunity in 2011, my house just would not sell. I was distraught--how could I rent it from far away? Fortunately my realtor recommended Block & Associates, the group who was managing the property she was renting. Boy was she right!! For the past four years, things have been so smooth and easy that most of the time, I didn't remember that I was renting out my townhome. Emily in particular was a joy to work with while trying to find new tenants; Courtney saved my bacon a number of times when I was getting the house ready to go on the market in 2015. I am about to sell the home, but I have recommended Block's management services to just about everyone who will listen to me. Yes, there are always some bumps no matter *what* company you use, but with Block, there will be a significantly smoother ride!! more

I am sure my experience isn't the case for all the realtors there however if you want to rent a home do not call Eva she is a realtor that never answers her phone!! I have tried calling about two homes which where listed with her unfortunately. I tried for a week. I always got voicemail and no return call!!!!! If you speak with the receptionist, you get ""she is not in"" I mean the lady doesn't ever work!!!!!! How can you sell real estate when you work 11-2 and do not answer your calls. I decided I wouldn't rent a home now through them as I was scared no one would answer our calls if we needed maintenance. Again, I am sure they have good realtors there but if you see one of her advertised homes, you may as well .......Hang it up......disappointed!\r Janet more

This company is great to work with. My wife and I rented a house through Block and Associates for two-and-a-half years. They were very professional and easy to work with. For example, when we had small maintenance issues they were fixed within 48 hours of calling. \r \r During our yearly contract I had a great job opportunity arise that would unfortunately require us to relocate mid-contract. B&A (specifically Tricia Dickens) worked with us to make the transition as easy as possible and get the house rented quickly. First I have thought long and hard on posting a review. But the truth is the terrible interaction we have had with Block Realty has devastated my family. My husband is a veteran with disability. We found a property about a month ago,called in to inquire on a property. Sharon was agent,but was out on vacation. I spoke to Molly her assistance . From the beginning I got the sense they did not want to work with me because of my husband disability. If that was the case why didn't Molly tell me, instead of trying to negotiate against me. I feel like she never talked to owners. When Sharon got back I left several messages with no return call,,I am sad to think people can judge based on this but unfortunately I believe that has been the case. I will be taking this to licensing as I mentioned my family is devastated . Shame on you,and thanks for never responding to me about my concerns. more

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Block and their crew. \r \r We moved from Raleigh to Southern California in 2011 and decided to rent our home in Raleigh. Block was, unfortunately for us, the 2nd rental company we contracted to manage our home. (The first was a horrible nightmare.) Living so far away and having had such a bad experience with our first property management company I was very skeptical. However, Block has been amazing. We worked w/ Kemp on the management side. \r \r Whenever issues with the house have come up, Block has handled them quickly and professionally. I have not had to worry about a thing.\r \r Just a few months ago we decided to possibly list the house for sale at the end of our tenant's lease. I began working with Emily McBrayer on the sales side at Block. She is beyond fantastic! She walked me through the entire process including having the house unofficially inspected so we knew what repairs we had to take care of. She then worked with others at Block to get multiple quotes for the work to make sure we were getting the best deal possible. \r \r Because of the state of our home loan vs home equity I had a ton of questions and Emily patiently walked me through each one. She was very responsive to my concerns and came up with creative ideas that would be helpful including working with our tenant to list the house early.\r \r Even when we decided not to list the house (financially it didn't make sense) Emily still worked with me to finish the repairs and get me settled back into the property management side of Block.\r \r There is no doubt that as long as we have rental property in Raleigh we will work with Block. And when we do decide to list our home for sale we will most definitely consider Emily as our agent. \r more

RENTERS: At this point, I wouldn't even give 1 star. I have called and emailed on multiple houses over the past THREE WEEKS. I haven't been able to get a single response back. If this is how they are for people trying to actually put an application on a home, how are they with the maintenance and calls?\r \r UPDATE: I finally got a response this weekend once I emailed the Broker In Charge along with the agent ""Joshua Furr"". ""....I'm sorry to hear you've had a hard time reaching a Block & Associates Broker. Unfortunately the property on ##### ##### has been pending for over a week & is no longer available. "" I left direct voicemails on his line plus emails for the past 3. This generic response reinforces my questions on how they would be for maintenance and calls. more

My husband and I were out online looking for a rental in Apex, NC, we came upon the Block & Associates web site and pulled up the rentals in that area. Much to our surprise, they had a beautiful ""new"" town home for rent. I called the listing agent on the property, Mr. Joshua Furr, immediately to make sure the town home was still available. We rode over to take a look at it and signed right then and there. Joshua was very attentive, and very helpful in speeding up the application process since we were under a time constraint. Since this was our very first time renting many questions came to mind, we would call Joshua, he was always very pleasant, never made us feel as if we were bothering him. 8/2013\r “We always appreciate hearing from our clients and we try to learn from every situation, however we also like to point out when information stated is not accurate. Joshua Furr did respond within 25 minutes by email to this tenant’s question about who they should contact in regard to the gas leak. This was a property managed by the owner but still Joshua went the extra mile to send out one of our vendors to assess the problem. After doing so and hearing back from our vendor, Joshua admitted that he did not have the authority to help in this situation and that they would need to contact the Gas Company. When the tenants then came into our busy office, they had not made an appointment to see Joshua and he was not in, therefore his assistant met with them. The tenants were also provided with the information they needed in the lease and it was again explained in their move in packet. In regards to the accusation that Joshua somehow threatened to have them evicted, well that is just simply not true. Joshua is one of our company’s top rental agents and has always acted in a professional manner in his relations with both tenants and landlords.”\r \r 6/2012\r It is very difficult to respond to blind comments where people do not identify themselves.
