overpriced!!! 10/1/2013

Benjamin Franklin responded quickly which was a plus, however their fee to do a leak search was really overpriced compared to other companies. This leak search fee ($250) would be in addition to do the actual repair. They claimed that they would waive the $79 charge (for him showing up) but I think they just rolled it in the leak search fee. I decided not to do business with them. more

Terrible and overpriced 9/5/2013

This company charged me over $300.00 to replace a wax seal on the toilet, which is $5.00 at Home Depot. Their work lasted just over a year when they told me it should last 5-10 years. I called to complain and they stated they would be happy to come out and do it again, but the same rates would apply. I will never use these scam artists again! more

Very knowledgeable, conscientious, and hard-working 10/1/2012

The big challenge with my sewer line replacement was a gorgeous 50-year-old willow oak tree sitting on top of the line. Benjamin Franklin came in with the right tools to dig near the tree with minimal root damage (water jet/vacuum). They dug a small hole near the tree and a larger hole at the other end, then dragged the new line through. Although it might have been that easy, they did encounter some difficulties, including a broken cable, stripped teeth, and a blown fuse. Through the setbacks, they continued to work professionally late into the evening. They worked with great care around the tree. After installing the new line and hooking it up, they ran a camera down the length to ensure all was well. When they were finished, they filled the holes and carefully graded the dirt back to the original slope. Every job has its unique challenges; Benjamin Franklin handled my job's challenges extremely well. more

We feel lucky to have found Ben Franklin of Maryland to replace our sewer line. They were competent, thoughtful and thorough. They communicated with us throughout the whole process, so that we understood what was happening. When they ran into some glitches, they thoughtfully explored options and found good solutions. The staff are all quality experts and thoughtful, kind people. They treat your home and yard as if it were theirs. At the end of the process, they cleaned up a huge mess in our yard, repaired the fence that had to be taken down, replanted some plants which they had removed, mulched, and made everything pretty again. I am recommending them to all our neighbors and friends if they ever need a new sewer. I would definitely hire them again. more

Sewer line replacement 8/3/2012

I was skeptical, I will admit. Now that my job is done, I must sing the praises of this company and their employees... I have an old house and have had many issues of various kinds over the years. I knew the sewer line would be a major problem. I did my research, and decided on Benjamin Franklin MD to do the work needed. I was not disappointed. As a matter of fact, it I could sing their praises on-line...anywhere....I would, Professional...kind...respectful. GLADLY recommend. more

Sewer and water service line replacement extremely efficient and professional. 10/9/2011

After seeing a sewer line replacement Ben Franklin Plumbing did for our neighbors, we called them to assess the condition of our 60-yr-old pipes. We saw the intrusive roots in our pipes on the monitor and decided to go ahead with the work. The new technology for sewer replacement is fast and efficient, and Ben Franklin did a superb job, along with water line replacement as well. Disruption inside the house was minimal, and no trenches had to be dug across the yard. Clean-up was thorough and careful. When the job was finished and the pits filled in again, Paul himself replanted the one azalea that had to be moved, along with some hosta and tulip bulbs. He even mulched! By the time the Ben Franklin truck drove away, no one could tell that major work had been done underneath the front yard. Paul and his team did a terrific job, and they deserve the highest rating. more

Excellent service 5/31/2011

Benjamin Franklin ran new underground water and sewer lines from my basement to the city street hookup (a distance of about 40 feet) without doing any damage to the landscaping. They were the only plumber in my area with the specialized and new equipment to thread the new pipes and remove the old ones without having to dig massive trenches through my front yard. And they did it in one day. Their price was fair and their workmanship superb. I would highly recommend them and will definitely be using their services again myself! more

Incredible Service 3/5/2011

We called Ben Franklin Plumbing to replace the main water service pipe into our house from the meter on the street. They were punctual for the estimate and for all parts of the service. Their price was considerably less than other estimates we received. The actual work was professionally done and our yard and house were put back in excellent condition. I would strongly recommend them, and would use them again in the future. more

Good service, but need more efficient toilets available on the spot. 7/26/2010

My toilet started leaking, but when I called BF, it didn't occur to me that I might need a new toilet. I thought it was a pipe problem. BF responded quickly and was here the same day I called, which I appreciated. But when it became clear that I needed a new toilet, not a new pipe, the service man had only one toilet to install. I would have liked the most water-efficient model available, even at the extra cost. But the service man told me it would take BF a week to get that toilet in stock,and then installed, and I couldn't wait that long. I had to go with the toilet the man had in his truck. more
