Very professional and responsive 4/21/2012

Dave Aplin is a pro. He did an AC system check, identified the problem and had the solution in short order on the first visit (coil needed replacement). Although news of the cost of these kinds of things is never pleasant, Dave seemed to understand and came up with a reasonable estimate and timeline for the fix. When he came back (on a Saturday no less), we had nice cold air in an hour. B & B is a great customer-oriented company. Overpriced, Slow and Sloppy 2/6/2012

I would not use B&B again. I called them last November to order a tune-up for our furnace, since I had a coupon for $90 or so. The coupon didn't say anything about not applicable to oil furnaces, but the mechanic said he couldn't accept it since it was oil. I decided to go with them anyway since they were at my house. Their labor rates seemed a little on the high side- $110/first 30 mins, $45/15 mins, but I thought they would be in and out in about 45 minutes. None of our previous tuneups had every taken more than an hour. Boy was I wrong. It took B&B over 2 1/2 hours, and our furnace is only three years old. Not only that, but the technician tracked mud throughout our house, and had to wait for a part to be delivered (I wasn't charged for this time, other than the extra hour of leave I had to burn). They were thorough, taking all the usual measurements, but so so slow. The total bill came to $390. I just about had a heart attack. RESPONSE FROM B & B AC & Heating Services: In response to a recent posting by Mr. Heishman, we would like to clarify the following facts. Mr. Heishman called on November 4th for an $89.95 inspection of his oil fired furnace. The service was scheduled for November 22nd and completed the same day. Most oil furnace inspections by themselves typically average about 1-hour to1-hour and thirty minutes.
The following items were thoroughly inspected on the Armstrong model LUF80C57/72V12-1A variable-speed oil fired furnace with was manufactured November 2005, to reinsure safe and reliable operation.
Cleanliness or heat exchanger and entire venting system (Excessive soot buildup)
Cleanliness of the air filter, blower assembly and evaporator cooling assembly
Visual safety inspection of the furnace heat exchanger and combustion chamber
Oil pump operating pressure and vacuum
Oil primary control, ignition transformer and cad cell relay
Motor amp draws on the oil burner motor and blower motor assembly
Motor bearing on the oil burner motor and blower motor.
Safety limit control device
Furnace temperature rise
A fuel combustion efficiency test
Oil filter
Oil nozzle
Now after the inspection was completed the service technician had some recommendations (with additional labor material/labor charges) for the homeowner to re-insure proper operation of the furnace and improve the overall efficiency. The technician recommended the replacement of the oil filter, oil nozzle, and adding HOT FUEL OIL TREATMENT to the outdoor oil tank which disperses moisture and prevents it from mixing with the oil and fouling the ignition of the oil furnace. These additional charges are quoted on a time and material basis which was discussed with the homeowner prior to commencing the work.
Unfortunately, our technician did not have the OEM replacement oil nozzle on his service truck. So replacement nozzle was delivered to the job site which extended the actual job time but the customer was not charged for any of the delivery time. After the parts were replaced a combustion efficiency test was performed, in which burner achieved an efficiency of 81.5.
We sincerely apologize for causing any type of mess. Our technicians are issued shoe covers and disposal gloves to help prevent these problems. Sometimes the weather or the parking area is not always conducive for in home servicing and extra precautions should be practiced to help alleviate such a situation. We are homeowners ourselves and stress with our technicians to treat the home as if was your own.
After the service Mr. Heishman called with his concern over the labor charges. We agreed to make an adjustment on the labor and credit was issued on his account. A refund of $110.00 was sent to the homeowner, which reduced the customer cost to $277.37 and to the best of our knowledge we thought this matter had been settled. more

Watch Your Back!! 1/31/2012

I called your company on 23 January 2012 to come out and to inspect and do required contract maintenance on our compressor unit due to it freezing up. After your tech did the inspection, he said that he found that defrost board was bad as well as the sensor [by the way, one of your techs came by then on 8/15/11 and said that the board was bad then too, truck 704, then they came back again [same day] and said the system was okay except system was low on R22 and they added 2lbs and charged us $97.94]. We declined the replacement of this piece of equipment (1) because the price of $593.54 seemed extremely high and (2) I wanted a second, unbiased opinion. Needless to say, we were quite frustrated when the second inspection revealed that nothing was found to be wrong with the equipment that your tech indicated. His finding was that he needed to only replace the defrost sensor and that there was NOTHING WRONG WITH THE BOARD as your tech indicated [and by the way, it did not cost us $593.54. RESPONSE FROM B & B AC & Heating Services: Ms. Braxton called in and reported her heat pump was frozen. Upon arrival the unit was indeed frozen. Our technician diagnosed the problem as a defective defrost board and defrost sensor. Ms. Braxton had another company out whom diagnosed a bad defrost sensor and had them replace the sensor. When we became aware of this, we offered to have management return to the jobsite at no cost or obligation and confirm the defrost board is/was functioning properly, Ms. Braxton refused. We returned Ms. Braxtons money at her request. more

I had B & B AC & Heating Services out several years ago for the first time with the furnace failing a couple days before Christmas. They were out the same day I called and took care of the problem. When I had central air conditioning problems, the first in April, I called them, they came out, diagnosed the problem, and fixed it. Then in June I had another problem with water dripping out and flooding the basement floor, I called them again, they diagnosed it, and fixed it. All three times B & B came quickly, fixed the problem, and I thought the rates were reasonable. I would like to point out that I worked for another company for 34 years, the last 20 as regional sales manager. When I called B & B, the service I got from my old company was not satisfactory. I recognize good service when I see it, and I am very happy with B & B. more

Honest and professional! 7/26/2011

What happened is this, B & B AC & Heating Services were working up in our attic in confined quarters to do the servicing of our AC unit. A leak developed. I contacted a contractor and discovered that we needed about $900 worth of repairs to our ceiling. Apparently, somebody had stepped on a pipe up there which drains the AC to the outside, and that had caused the leak. I notified B & B and they checked with our contractor and then came back to us and took care of the repair costs for us. Now that's what I call really fine service! Not every company would have done that. They really stepped up and didn't challenge us at all. Of course I'll keep using them for service, they are honest and professional! more

I have had a service contract with B & B AC & Heating Services for the last two years. The previous owner of my home had used them, and I got their information from the stickers they placed on my units. I like that if you call them, if they aren't out the same day, they will be by the next morning. Quick service it very important when you're having heating and cooling issues. Also, every person I've dealt with from B & B has always taken the time to explain what's going on with my system, and what they are going to do to resolve any issues. They will go through my equipment thoroughly, and when they leave I feel confident that everything is in working order. The people at B & B are always informed, and willing to provide information about their products and services. When I needed a new system recently, they made sure I understood what I was getting, and why it was a good fit for my needs. Everyone from the salesman to the installers had good people skills, and communicated well. B & B not only get the job done, but are also consistent in providing quality service and sending great people to your home. And as with any service, time and money is a factor. We've had B & B ever since we moved here, which has been since '94. We've got service contracts with them and everything, and they are really good with those. All the guys seem to be very knowledgeable, and if you have a favorite you can request him. We usually try to get the same guy so that we don't have to explain things to him. They come out when you call, so you don't have to sit around and count the days, and I've never had them not respond the same day. more

B & B AC & Heating Services does a good job. They have been servicing out unit for years and they always show up in a timely manner, are professional and thorough. Most recently, we had them out because we were having issues with out unit. They didn't just come out and gloss over it and tell us we needed to buy a whole new unit. Instead, they came out a second time for a follow-up appointment and discovered an internal leak. They recommended that we get a new system but they also gave up options to fix it, so we felt like we had a choice. They were upfront and clear that if they did fix our unit, it might not be a permanent fix. I thought they were very helpful explaining our options. I called them about three times with additional questions and they were always great about answering them. We ended up deciding on a new unit. At first, they put it where it originally was, however, my husband really wanted it in a certain place. It was going to be tough to make it happen, but after they had gone to the store for some supplies, they were able to make it work there, which I thought was going well above and beyond the call of duty. Overall, we have been very happy with their service and would highly recommend them to anybody! more
