Aveda Institute New Orleans

I arrived at the salon an hour early. The cashier was pleasant and assisted me in booking an appointment for my mother for 2pm. As my time was aproaching I thought that maybe the cashier had check me in even though I was early but she didn't.She promptly did once I asked her if I was checked in. The hairdresser assigned to me was wonderful. I loved the fact that she wanted my hair to look beautiful. My mother on the another hand had a awful first experience. The student that did her hair had a book out to see how to do the cut and the teacher never came to okay the hair cut or see if my mother like the cut or not. I am really disappointed that her experience made her not want to go to aveda again. more

I requested a stylist when I got there - I live 30 min away...- I was told she wasn't there they put me with a random girl who didn't do what I asked. No one called me and no one let me know before hand. more

my time was very enjoyable at Aveda. all involved were extremely nice and professional. They took their time with me - i didn't feel rushed to get out quickly. i will definitely visit again. the price was well worth the service. they offered many suggestions and options and i will be able to follow thru on my next apt. thanks again. more

My student listed carefully to all my requests. She was slow, but meticulous with the haircut. The results were spectacular. I couldn't have asked for more! more

Great experience!! Great stylist, instructor, and even the receptionist was very friendly and helpful. I will definitely return again and have already recommended Aveda Institute Hair Salon to several friends & family (& on Facebook too). lol more

I believe the pedicure statins should be quiet with soft music so customers can do a bit of relaxation. I think the student did her best but the atmosphere could be improved. more

have gotten my hair colored there about 10 or more times and I'm always happy with the results! more

I took my two daughters there to have their hair washed and flat iron. I was charged two prices. One for the wash and one for the flat iron. However that is not how it was worded on the price list. It was worded has a wash and style. I had no clue I would be charged extra for it. Also once their hair was done it didn't look flat ironed at all and their hair was still oily! I called the salon to have them redo it and I go the run around and the director refused to speak to me. I would not recomend ANYONE to go here!! I only gave the .5 star because the girl who was doing my girls hair was nice. more

I went in wanting a French manicure/pedicure. I was told I should have said that when I made my appointment since it took longer. (That's never been an issue at any other place I've gotten my nails done). The manicurist was unfriendly and barely spoke to me unless she was plugging Aveda products.She didn't know how to file nails and grinded my nail mercilessly back and forth. After grinding away a bit on one side of my nail, leaving it totally uneven, she asked me, "Do you like it?" I had to point out to her that it was uneven. The polish was lumpy and barely held one day. When her teacher came and asked me how it all turned out, I said, "See for yourself." She barely glanced at it, made absolutely no comment to me, and just said, "Okay, you're done." to her student. My mom's and bridesmaids' manicures took equally as long, and we were packed in rooms with tons of other people, mostly separated from each other. We couldn't spend any time together. It was loud and uncomfortable, and I felt like I was in a factory. My sister-in-law couldn't get an appointment at the institute with us that day, so I got her an appointment at the Aveda at Lakeside across the street. (Where the manicurists had already finished school). It was equally bad. This whole fiasco- my "manicure" & "pedicure" alone- took the whole afternoon. Spare yourself this headache and go somewhere else. more

It was very relaxing. They were very accommodating when I wanted to change a basic pedicure to an essential pedicure. more

My daughter has very long curly and wavy hair that happens to be thick as well. Her stylist was knowledgeable, helpful, and very kind as she worked to tame those glorious curls with a blowdry, flatiron and dry cut(to get it even). more

I often , every 2 weeks, make an appointment for a lip and chin wax. I have been to many salons, but Aveda Institute they do a better job, and know their products. The bad part students do leave just when you start asking for them. But it is a school. Try their pedicure, wonderful. more

I have found a student that I just love. Her name is Maggie and she is studying at the Institute in Metairie. Not only is she proficient, she has a great personality. For the first time, I don't read a book or a magazine during my pedicure. We have a delightful conversation. She is bright and funny and gives a great leg massage. The front dest was a little discombobulated due to staff shortages but it is usually very efficient. I am happy to have this option for my nail services because it is affordable for me. I plan to continue to use Aveda for my manicure/pedicure services. more
