At The Beach Tanning

Today I went in At The Beach to check it out. Upon entering I was also told I needed to wait for the manager, who proceeded to help 3 customers while the original girl hung out. After that, the scamming began. I asked if I could purchase just one tan to check the place out. The ""manager"" (the butch looking one), visibly irritated, forcefully told me that I would not see results from one tan. I checked ""no tour"" on their little form, but I was given a lame tour of their beds anyway. The rooms were ugly, uncomfortable concrete. Then the pressure sale tactics/scamming began again. She proceeded to tell me all about their ""packages."" She would speed up greatly when telling me the glaringly obvious flaws in the packages; you must sign up for a year or two years or it's $100 or more per month with no upgrades, you cannot break contract unless you move, you can ""sell"" your contact on craiglist (Oh THAT sounds fun)though, etc. The not paying for upgrades thing sounds nice, but at 10:00am on a Friday, and all the 12 minute beds were taken. A girl came in and tried to cancel due to moving and was told she had to fill out a form and mail it in. Making it hard to cancel is a common scam technique. I went to this place after a friend reommended ""Bronzeworks."" It's been sold to ""At the Beach,"" and from everything I've experienced, anything good that Bronzeworks offered has been trashed by this company. Cons: Too many to list more

I went in with a coupon for one free week or one upgrade. The girl behind the counter asked where I received it. After telling her she told me I had to go to a different location. With a snobbish attitude she showed their packages. She wouldn't honor the coupon yet I can go on their website and get the same coupon for any location. Young girls working behind the counter, very poor customer service. more

I assume this is the place that is on the corner of Broadway and 6th, next to a sub shop? I went in there the other day, there were 3 people behind the counter and one customer in front of me. I waited for about 10 minutes while they completely ignored me, finally one of the staff members told me she could help me, and when I told her I was new there, she told me she couldn't help me, I would have to wait for the manager to help me. I was so sick of waiting around (and I just wanted a mistic tan) that I just left and went to Darque Tan (on speer and 8th), got right in there and the girl working at Darque Tan was super nice. I am disgusted with this place... they should feel ashamed with the way they scam people. The only reason that I signed up was because I was told that I could cancel at anytime. Then when trying to cancel they told me that their was no way possible unless I proved that I moved and there was not one at least 50 miles away from my new location. I am sickened by the fact that they will be taking money away from me for next year. The people there are rude as well. They didn't turn my bed on, when I went to the desk to see what the problem was I couldn't find anyone for 10 minutes. Turns out she was outside with her boyfriend. DO NOT GO HERE!!! more

this place AWFUL! good luck ever getting any answers from them. every call you make about an account question, they redirect and redirect to different numbers and you always get voicemails. i cancelled my account and they processed my check but then kept on charging my monthly charge!!! BEWARE - avoid this place like the plague. Bronzeworks (now called At the Beach Tanning) will steal your money. This location has an ""unsatisfactory record"" with the Better Biz Bureau, as does their corporate headquarters (located in Oklahoma City), as well as their billing company (""Affiliated Acceptance Corporation,"" located in Sunrise Beach, MO). I signed up for a month-to-month contract and canceled the membership after several months by filling out their required form. However, they billed me afterward and tried to charge hundreds of dollars in late fees when I disputed the charges with my bank. I filed a new complaint with the Better Biz Bureau but the company didn't even bother to respond. I went there a few times before going on a trip and the first time I was there, the manager stopped in the middle of signing me up to clean a bed for another customer that came in after me. Another time I went in the girl working was on her cell phone talking to a friend when I walked in and I got laughed at by 2 workers on my way out b/c I didn't want to stay and chat w/ them. I have been a customer of Bronze Works, now known as ""At the Beach,"" for over three years and the new owner definitely has a new motto ""unfriendly service, slow, uneducated on the products means more clients?"" I don't think so... I signed a contract for two years when they had a deal going on thinking that it would be the same place but it has definitely changed and I JUST WANT OUT!!! Once the best tanning salon in denver, it is no longer.\r Don't even bother to go the new one. \r At best you will be hustled and scamed.....\r At worst, you may be called names by a crazed owner that obviously needs medication.\r 40 million company or not, the old Bronzeworks is gone, along with Brent and the other wonderful staff that understands what good customer service is and knows about the art and science of tanning. I have tanned in many other salons, and non meet the quality that I recieved at Bronze Works. The staff were friendly and knew everything about the tanning industry. The mist is amazing here. It sprays and drys you in 60 seconds, you come out 3 shades darker and it lasts forever. Unlike Mystic and Magic Tan spray booths, the Mist-on never fades blotchy or streaks. It fades away even and unnoticably! Pros: drys immediatley, fast and effective, Great color more

When I think of tanning salons I think of young ditsy girls too concerned with their own lives then my tanning experience. But Bronzeworks... Their different. I found a tanning salon that specializes in tanning and tanning only. They have a very well trained staff who will explain the whole ""tanning science"" (which it is!) and they have every product for before, after and during your tanning experience. I love this place becuase no matter what you need, they are more than happy to assist you. I mean when i can tan for .82 cents a day.... I'm in! Also the past few times i've been in there is no ""techno-fever"" going on here. I was actually suprised to hear the new madonna cd and postal service. No crocs or ugly swimsuits taking up any space, just 30 rooms of the finest maintained equipment i've seen! Pros: educated staff, clean, maintaned, no wait Cons: none, none, none more

I've been coming to this tanning salon for years, and the experience is always absolutely wonderful! The staff is friendly and won't hesitate to help with any questions you may have. The atmosphere is bright, cheery, and very welcoming. If you are ever in need of a quick tan, you gotta check this place out. It's great! more

BronzeWorks is by far the best salon in Denver. They receive the White Glove cleanliness award every year. The staff knoes the ins and outs of the business so their ready to answer any questions you can throw at them. They have the best selection of beds and have 30 rooms so you never have to wait or make an ppointment. I highly recomend for everybody to go see Brent and the staff.
