They will not tell you everything an charge what they want from your bank. Don't go there an don't sign up. They will rob you. Theifs.

I had a card for a free spray tan that 1/15/2012

I had a card for a free spray tan that i recieved at the denver rock 'n roll marathon. i am just an occasional spray tanner and thought i'd see how i liked it for future reference. i've spray tanned at darque tan on a groupon and they were nice and explained things very well and the ""tan"" turned out pretty well but i thought i'd try it here and if it looked better/was easier/nicer whatever then i'd have a new place to go. the young man working when i went in was nice enough initially and hit me pretty hard and fast on the whole ""sell"". he tried to get me to sign up for a membership immediately and once he realized that i was only interested in the one free spray things changed pretty quickly. he became quite brisk and borderline rude. next stop- lotions and excellerators. he was quite pushy. i told him i wasn't going to buy anything and he told me i wasn't going to be happy with my tan if i didn't. really? because i've been satisfied in the past and never used them. i am an esthetician and i'm familiar with how dha works so no need to try and confuse me with your generic speak about skin ph etc. there was no further pleasantries or instruction from that point on. at one point i even told him not to be mad! i was sent back on my own. it's a shame because i liked the machine itself and how even the color seemed to go on and how dry i felt afterwards. hopefully he didn't adjust the machine to some weird extra color or no color to get back at me! lol. poor guy actually got pouty. even if the tan looks good i won't go back due to the pushy nature and hard sell business model. more

I hope that this deters and discourages anyone to get a membership here. If this gets to a manager or someone that actually cares about the customers that provide ATB employees a job I would be shocked. more

I tan every week. I get good service and love the beds. I do both the beds and the sray. The spray really works well. It makes it really easy. I can be tan in a few minutes. more

I've had multiple experiences with At the Beach, and none have been very good. I made the mistake of signing a 6 month contract this year because they definitely have the cheapest tanning around. I took the full amount out of my account ahead of time to cover for it and thought I would have no issues. Until I fell victim to having my credit card stolen! I was notified by my bank so I called anyone taking auto payments from it. I called several days before my draft date letting ATB know there would be a problem should they bill my credit card. I gave them my banking account # instead and was assured there would not be a problem in switching over. Less than 2 weeks later I am being contacted by ""collections"" saying I now owe more than my entire contract was for due to fees, etc. The girl got incredibly rude with me when I told her there was no way I was paying those fees and that I'd done everything to avoid this from happening. She told me ""fine, we'll just mark you down for refusal of payment and send you to a collection agency so it can go on your credit"" THIS is the customer service provided to a client who was the victim of credit card fraud AND did the right thing to call and notify them of this before there was a problem? Unbelievable!!! I've had problems with these guys in the past and long story short.....dealing with them and their cheaper prices is NOT worth dealing with them in the long run, their incredibly poor customer service and their dirty locations where all anyone ever does is to push product on you that also sucks. DO NOT waste your time and money!!!!! more

Will NOT give any refunds! 5/18/2011

I made the mistake of paying $65 to upgrade to a different bed. The more expensive beds are very intense, and I ended up breaking out in a rash all over my back and legs. I called customer service and they refused to give me a refund. They would not even allow me to exchange the credits for the spray tan. The employees will also hound you to upgrade or buy all their expensive lotions EVERYTIME you go in there. I do not recommend this place for tanning. more

I went in last week and got talked into a membership I could not afford. The guy was helpful and nice and I just got carried away. Once I got home and talked to my mom she made me call the corp office because there was no way I could do what I had signed up. When they called me back they were helpful and friendly and gave me some options, and worked it out. I still get to tan, but I got to change to a better plan for me. I was worried because of all the horror stories, but that was not what I experienced at all more

I like tanning here because I get the results I am looking for without all the drama. Staff is professional, they check me in, ask about my results and give me tanning advise. The place I went before just gave me that stupid blank stare when I asked about lotion or what beds I should use. That don't happen here. I recommend ATB to anyone who asks about my tan more

Don't believe the positive reviews, they are obviously written by managers and employees. This place scams people and were fined by the Colorado AG.\r \r Attorney General announces agreement barring tanning chain from misleading consumers during sales process\r 01/31/2011 \r \r DENVER — Colorado Attorney General John Suthers announced today that the state has reached a settlement with the Oklahoma-based tanning chain At The Beach that resolves allegations that the company misled consumers about its tanning contracts. The agreement requires At The Beach to pay an estimated $350,000 in consumer restitution, fines and attorney fees and requires that At The Beach halt its deceptive sales practices and record all of its future sales.\r \r “This agreement is a victory for the hundred of Colorado consumers who felt that At The Beach was not engaging in fair sales practices,” Suthers said. “We believe the company’s agreement to record all sales transactions will deter future misconduct, and is evidence of the company’s desire to change its sales practices.”\r \r At The Beach allowed its employees to misrepresent that consumers could “cancel their contract at any time,” according to the state’s complaint. Former employees and consumers told investigators that the company failed to disclose that cancellation would require payment of half of the remaining cost of the contract. Consumers also said they first learned of the cancellation fee when they attempted to cancel.\r \r Consumers will be eligible for restitution if they have already filed a written complaint with the Colorado Attorney General’s office or the Better Business Bureau. The Office of the Attorney General estimates that more than $100,000 will be refunded to more than 300 past At The Beach customers. The company also will be required to pay an additional $75,000 to the state to be used to reimburse consumers who file complaints going forward.\r The settlement also requires At The Beach to pay a $75,000 fine and $38,500 to cover the costs of the investigation. At The Beach has already reimbursed Colorado consumers approximately $45,000 as a result of the state’s investigation into At The Beach’s credit and collection practices.\r \r The settlement also will require At The Beach to:\r Install recording equipment in all of its stores and maintain an audio copy of every sale;\r \r Update its contracts to require initialing from consumers throughout the document; \r and,\r \r Simplify the documentation required to cancel a contract when moving outside the company’s service areas.\r more

The REAL Deal 3/28/2011

I tanned all over Denver before I came to At The Beach. I heard all the negative stuff and it had me wary to try here, but I am so glad I did. Everyone that works here is super friendly. On my first visit they showed me all the beds in the store. I could not believe there were so many different levels of beds. The store is immaculately clean. They showed me the plans, I didn't want a year so I bought the 6 month plan. I never felt pressured or anything like that, they were just trying to help me get the best deal for what I wanted. I like how everything this automated, all my info went into the computer, instead of on paper to just be laying there where anyone can see it. Plus the fingerprint thing makes me feel like no one can use the tanning that I pay for. Love that! more

Who wants to be hot and sweaty when they tan? NOT me! I like that At The Beach keeps the rooms comfortable so that even when I am tanning after working out its relaxing and not to hot. Like all the friendly employees who work there too! more
