Stephanie Seibert is a genius 11/15/2011

I have jumped around to various salons over the years, and I must say that Stephanie is amazing. She has such a good eye for color (was able to lighten my dark hair to a gorgeous blonde), gives an amazing, flirty cut, and is totally hilarious all at the same time. She gives great customer service and has tons of infectious energy. She takes her time and makes sure her clients are happy. Certainly an asset to American Hairlines! more

Never Going ANYWHERE Else!! 11/2/2011

From the minute I walked into American Hairlines I felt welcome. The front desk staff was smiling and offering me a drink after checking me in for my appointment. I loved my color and cut with Greg, he did an amazing job and was so fun to converse with while I was in his chair! The whole salon is bright and exciting to be in, I could not have asked for a better experience. While I will be going to see Greg again, I also watched several other cuts and colors being done around me and would highly recommend any of the obviously highly experienced stylists there! You WON'T be sorry, go experience American Hairlines! :) more

TERRIBLE BRIDAL EXPERIENCE! 9/22/2011

Horrible bridal experience! During my pre-bridal, the owner/my stylist pushed his vision on me and did not listen to what I was asking for. It was totally wrong, I spoke up and thank goodness I did because he did not ask me if I liked it. I told him this was not the hair do I wanted and asked him to try a different style. He became very flustered and said he didn't have time and that he had appointments back to back. Now correct me if I'm wrong but for a trial shouldn't you leave yourself a little extra time for the appointment incase the bride wants to try something different? After paying $175.00 for hair and makeup, I was totally unsatisfied and felt as though I was ripped off. My hair was falling out all over the place as I started walking to my car. You can imagine that after the trial, I was a bit anxious about getting my hair done on my wedding day. I arrived at the salon with my bridesmaids and one by one their stylists brought them back to get their hair done and I'm left sitting there 15 minutes past my schedule appointment time. The owner/stylist came up to me and said "what are you here for?" I told him I was getting married that day and I was there for my up-do. He said "well I must have over-booked, I have to do someone else before I get to you". I broke down in tears and ran into the bathroom. I do not consider myself a very dramatic person but on your wedding day you want everything to be perfect and this was just the worst thing that could have happened. I will never return to the salon and I suggest that you look elsewhere if you're getting married in the Bethlehem, PA area. This was the WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! more

Disgusting/Not Sanitary 11/27/2010

Went here for a facial. The woman was very pushy and instead of helping me figure out the best skincare treatment, made me feel bad about the condition of my skin. The room wasn't that clean and I noticed the sheet on the table hadn't been washed before me. Waxing pot was on the ground in the corner, her blackberry was on the counter with all her personal items instead of being stored away, and she didn't wear gloves during the extraction. Disgusting...I should have left more

Waxing... Yup, Down There 11/4/2010

Let me start by saying I take waxing pretty seriously. I am a tough critic when it comes to waxing down there. It's a sensitive area! So, after trying a bunch of places out, I met the best waxer ever!! Carmen is the only person I trust because she does an amazing job, while making you laugh and forget about the pain that Brazilians naturally come along with. After moving to NY, I used to drive an hour and a half to see Carmen- I lived in Manhattan and no one there could compare to her. Now I live down South and if I could fly her down here, I would!! If you're thinking about getting a Brazilian wax, or any wax for that matter, Carmen is your go-to girl!! You won't regret it, she is the best!! more

Cut and Color Worth Traveling for with Hakan! 8/27/2010

I've been going to Hakan for cut and highlights for six years now and I've never had anything less than a fantastic experience. I started going to Hakan in college. Now, I travel from Manhattan, where I live and work, to see Hakan! As other reviewers have mentioned, he has a comprehensive understanding of hair texture/quality, skin tone, facial bone structure and takes his time to ensure that the cut and color flatter your features. He gives precision haircuts that look amazing when you leave the salon and grow out beautifully. His highlights bring out not only the best in your natural hair color but really flatter your complexion. Before finding Hakan, I had been to a number of colorists and stylists who would always ask me what I wanted from my cut and color and would show me a picture or ask me to pick from color swatches. But I think the mark of a really great stylist/colorist is when they assess your hair and skin tone and determine the right cut and shade for you. Hakan certainly involves the client in the consultation, but it's clear that he's the expert and will guide you to a look that really suits you. I trust Hakan's judgment implicitly and have always been thrilled with the results. I work in the beauty industry in New York and am frequently complimented on my hair-- I think that says it all. Hakan really gives you top Manhattan cut and color but for Lehigh Valley prices. It's an unbelievable value and well worth the trip! more

Run, don't walk....to see Hakan!!!! 8/20/2010

I followed my favorite stylist to his new salon, American Hairlines. The staff is friendly and courteous and they care about the clients. But I will only trust my hair with Hakan. It took me a long time to find a good stylist. I have been going to him for over 2.5 years now. He gives you a 15 minute consultation and tells you what style would look best for you. In addition, he just simply gives the best cut. I feel like a superstar. He gives me a New York or Hollywood style haircut......in PA. Trust me. Run, don't walk....to get a Hakan cut...you won't regret it. more

The Valley's best stylist 8/3/2010

Hakan is by far the best stylist I have ever experienced. He has the ability to look at your bone structure, the shape of your face and the texture of your hair and work magic. I would follow him as far as I am physically able to have one of his cuts. He now knows me so well, that I never tell him what I want...just, "Hakan, work your magic". And I am never dissatisfied. Pros: creative, innovative, unique, attentive Cons: n/a more

I only trust my hair to Hakan at American Hairlines 8/3/2010

This weekend I visited American Hairlines after I heard that my favorite stylist Hakan had started working there. I only have great things to say about my experience at American Hairlines and of course Hakan. The staff was professional and the atmosphere was so much fun! Hakan is the only person I trust with my hair. He works closely with his clients to make sure that he understands the look and style they want. He is also honest about what will and won't flatter your features... which I love. For me, an honest stylist is the best kind! He is also up-to-date with the current trends and styles. He's great at what he does which is why I drive from Philadelphia to visit Hakan! I love knowing that when I leave his chair not only does my hair look like a million dollars, but I feel like a million dollars! Pros: Great atmosphere, professional staff, more

Great Place!! 1/10/2008

I used American Hairlines for my wedding. They did my hair, my bridesmaids hair, my mom's hair and my mom in law's hair. We also had them do our makeup. I couldn't have asked for a better stylist or makeup artist. All of our hair looked stunning and the makeup was done in a way that it brought out everyone's natural highlights without looking like you have a ton of makeup caked on. it didn't even rub off onto my husbands tux. I WOULD USE THEM AGAIN AND AGAIN!!! They are the absolute best. Definitely try them out. They are always willing to do your hair the way you want. Pros: Friendly, great atmosphere, great people, more

One word..Awful! 1/9/2008

Awful experience! This salon did my hair for my wedding and did a terrible job, my bridesmaids had to fix my hair after we left because they made me look like a pageant contestant circa 1980. My two bridesmaid's hair styles were fine, however my mother was in tears at the salon because the "stylist" was rude and rushed her. I would not recommend this salon to anyone. The stylists are rude and condescending. more

The best. I have been going there for 9 years and have never had a problem. The best all around. 9/19/2007

The best.!!! I have never had a problem. Courteous staff!! Prices are right in line with other downtown salons. I have had waxes, foils, cuts, color, nails, massages and spray tans. Never a complaint from me. There is a huge lot for parking. They stamp your ticket so you don't pay to park. Everyone is just so friendly and soooo obliging. Pros: Parking garage more

I left looking like I needed a haircut! 7/18/2007

I was new in town and went to American Hairlines because I thought it was the "premier" salon in town and for a good salon the prices were good. The woman who cut my hair acted like she was afraid to cut it. There was little conversation as she seemed to be focusing on cutting my hair. I thought it was strange the way she was cutting it. She was cutting diagonal pieces all over as I've seen other stylists texture my bangs. When I said I had thought of trimming it myself she told me if I cut it the way she was that I couldn't mess it up. She ended up taking little or no length off and I left looking like I needed a haircut. Also, for as big as that place is, I would think they would have a place to wax eyebrows rather than sit me at the end of a line of sinks with my neck over the sink and my feet sticking out for everyone to pass around them. I was quite disappointed and never went back. Pros: Nice, open, trendy space Cons: Poor haircut, not sensitive to time, parking more

Love It! Best Service! 9/26/2006

I really love going to this salon - very clean and the staff are always friendly! Angel is "my man" - I love the way he does my hair. I have been going to American Hairlines for only about 1 1/2 years - when I was having a baby they even opened on Sunday so that I could look my best for my baby shower! Great Service - time and time again! Pros: Very hip salon - very clean! Friendly staff! more

NYC-Style Salon with Bethlehem Prices! :-) 4/18/2006

I went to American Hairlines on a friends recommendation. Stylist Marie gave me the best haircut and nicest service that I've gotten since moving to PA from NYC in 2001! Marie knew exactly how to make my curly hair look its best, she & the staff were charming and helpful, and she worked quickly without making me feel rushed. The atmosphere is hip yet welcoming, and I loved the salon's eclectic yet elegant decor: flowers and chandeliers mixed with modern art amid the building's industrial design. I felt like I was back in my favorite NYC salon -- a high compliment! :-) True, AHs haircuts cost more than in most PA salons I've been to (still cheaper than NYC, though :-), but considering the excellent haircut, fine service, and personable staff, I got my money's worth, and I'll happily return to AH next time my hair needs a trim! Pros: Gorgeous haircuts, Pleasant staff, Cool atmosphere Cons: Pricey (but worth it) more

Exceptional! 7/6/2005

I have found American Hairlines to be very professional and accomodating at all times. I certainly plan on being a long time client. The staff and management have exceeded my expectations. more

Disrespectful of Time 6/27/2005

I had several poor experiences, the last being almost unimaginable. My appointment was at 1:30. At 1:45 my stylist was still cutting another client; I confirmed that my appointment was at 1:30. As I am considerate of others' time, I had skipped lunch so I wouldn't be late. I asked how much longer and was told 10 minutes; I said I would be back in 10 minutes, ran out, wolfed down half a wrap, and returned in exactly 10 minutes. I was shocked to see my stylist with another client in her chair, cutting his hair! How incredibly disrespectful! I wrote the owner and never heard from him! Another bad experience 2 months before - I had highlights put in, got home, could barely see them, so had to return and spend another 2 hours to get them! I'm moving on!! more
