Evolution is a treasure 4/7/2006

Evolution is the kind of hair salon that everyone dreams of because it has a relaxed atmosphere, the staff is friendly, the prices are great, and most importanly the colorists/stylists are skillful and very talented. Teresa is the best colorist I have ever had and I've been to a few expensive hair salons in Manhatan, including Avon salon and Shige Kosuda. Thank you, Teresa! Everyone who works at Evolution is so warm and friendly! My hairstylist was Kara and she helped me get the exact cut I wanted! The atmosphere is great, clean and very chill. It's better than anything you'll find in Manhattan. Pros: ample parking, not crowded more

Great Find 3/16/2006

I was looking for a hair salon in Queens and I found the perfect one in Bayside. The staff is so friendly and warm. My stylist Kara really listened to me on what I wanted and gave me a great cut. Pros: Parking, Inexpensive, Not Crowded more

Love It, Love It, Love It! 3/9/2006

I recently moved to Queens and was in DESPERATE need of a new stylist. I figured I'd try Evolution, not only for the great reviews on citysearch, but also because it was near my new house. I decided to make an appointment for a blow-out with Kara who was amazing with my curly hair. Usually stylists want to flat iron the hell out of my hair, but Kara suggested that I wear it a little wavy, with some body and it was wonderful. She even trimmed my bags for me at no charge because I was looking like a shaggy dog. I'm defintely going to schedule a highlight appoinment with her because she made some great suggestions for me!! I just love this place...no stress, no gimicks, no hassel and fuss!!! Pros: Kara and the staff!, wonderful salon!, great value. more

Teresa IS queen of color! 3/3/2006

It was my first time at the salon and Teresa did my color. All I had to do was show her a picture and she gave me just what I wanted. She is the best colorist I have ever been to, and I have been to a few very expensive places in Manhattan. Nothing compairs. I am so very happy, and I will be returning. Great salon. MY HAIRSTYLIST IS JOANN AND I'VE BEEN GOING TO HER FOR YEARS - HAS A GREAT EYE FOR COLOR AND AN EVEN BETTER CUT. THE ENTIRE STAFF AT EVOLUTION ARE GREAT - THEY MAKE YOU FEEL VERY COMFORTABLE AND THEY ALL DO FANTASTIC WORK. THERESA, THE OWNER, HAS NOTHING BUT CUTTING EDGE PRODUCTS. i found this salon on citysearch and decided to check it out. i got a great cut with marisssa, who was able to fix my botched layers (from a previous salan) and add some shape to my fine long hair. highly recommended, especially for the price and staff!! Trust Kara... 2/5/2006

I took a chance and trusted the reviews on Citysearch & headed to Evolution for highlights with Kara. This was a HUGE deal for me because I was afraid of the damage the bleach would do to my hair, but Kara used a gentle cream bleach & my hair feels as soft as ever. I showed Kara some pictures of what I had in mind & she gave me the most gorgeous honey colored highlights! I could not be more satisfied with this salon. Everyone was sweet & very serious about hair. I would recommend Kara to anyone looking for a colorist who is confident & a true artist. I'll be back! Pros: comfortable, hip, price more

The Best Salon I Have Ever Been To! 1/21/2006

Evolution is the best hair salon i have ever been to and I've been to plenty. Teresa always does a great job on my hair. All I have to do is bring in a picture and she puts her magic hands to work, and it always comes out the way I hoped it will. The other girls are really nice too. I was recommended to Marissa and had never been to Evolution Salon before. I immediately loved it and felt very comfortable there. Everyone was friendly and Marissa was great. I got a great cut and some good advice and it was an overall wonderful experience. I would highly recommend Marissa and Evolution Salon to everyone. more

I have been going to Joanne now for about 5 years. I have had many people in the past style my hair and tell me how wonderful it looked.It was not until I changed my stylist that I really knew what wonderful was.There is never a time that I walked out of the salon, and was unhappy.Every time I am there at the salon for color, there is at least 1-2 other clients that comment on how beautiful my color is. Joanne is always looking out for her clients best interest. The salon is great, very comfortable atmosphere.I am there on a monthly basis, and have always left satisfied.If you want a hair stylist that knows the latest trends, offers an honest opinion and really cares about client satisfaction, then Joanne is your pick!(Not to mention, you will have the biggest laughs during your time with her!) A great place and fun! 11/19/2005

I have been going to Joanne for approcimately 3 years. I used to frequent another salon in Bayside, but was not happy with the way my hair was done. I finally decided to make a change, and Joanne was recommended to me by a friend who has been going to her for almost 20 years. The first time I went and explained to Joanne why I was unhappy with my hair (one reason was my highlights looked like stripes!). I asked for her opinion, and she cut, colored and highlighted my hair perfectly! and did exactly what she had said she would (What a concept!). I love going there, always have fun, laugh and am happier with my hair now than I have been for many years! Thank you Joanne!!!!!!!! Pros: Great colorist, Always comfortable, Always have fun more

I had my first experience at this salon and loved it. I read the amazing reviews and had to give it a shot. I had an appointment with Kara - who is absolutely wonderful! I had some bad (actually horrible) color done a week before by another salon and hated it. I went to Kara who listened to what I wanted and gave me the best color, cut and blow dry I have had in a while. I will definately be a returning customer. Pros: atmosphere, price, staff more

I love this salon! Bernice does a terrific job with my hair ( cut & color) and offers good advice on styling, while making my visit enjoyable, instead of a chore. This salon has a great atmosphere along with a great staff. You will get excellent service without having to wait long passed your appointment time and without the clownish, ill-mannered attitude of some other places.
