I looked on citysearch and read the amazing reviews and chose Kara as my stylist. It was hard for me to leave my old stylist, but Kara really listened to me and chose the best color and cut for me. I can't tell you how many compliments I get on my hair. Living in Manhattan. you tend to believe that the city is the place to get all your fashion needs met, but I will travel to Queens any time to get my hair done by Kara. She truly is a talented stylist. I even had another hair stylist stop me and ask where I get my hair done! The salon is so cute and the staff is so friendly, you feel right at home and almost forget that you are in a salon. I have already recommended some friends! Thanks for my new look Kara!! Looking good 10/9/2005

I have been using Amanda for my haircoloring for years now and I am as happy as ever. Her relocating to Evolution Salon has made me one happy client. Her expertise in haircoloring makes me look great. Compliments never stop. Her magic wand is a color comb and brush. Her judgement is great. She accents any haircut I get. Her background in color is incredible. Working in Manhattan, and owing two color salons has brought her a long way. Her friendly smile a patience is incredible. Great Service at Evolution Salon! CC did an amazing job on my highlights and Marissa gave me a fabulous cut! The service was great and the staff was very welcoming and friendly! I highly recommend the talented Madison Avenue trained stylists at this local Bayside salon and will definitely return again! more

A reason to travel to Bayside 10/6/2005

I have been following CC for the best in hair color since I moved to NYC. She has a talent (and patience) that is rivaled by none (ask who some of her past clients have been - it will blow you away)! She has finally settled into this sweet little haven in Bayside. You feel like you have plopped into the Steel Magnolia movie (but with a different accent, of course). While your tresses get that fabulous ""natural"" hair color (only you and CC will know the truth), you can relax like you used to be able to do in salons (before uptight became trendy)! The salon has a friendly relaxed atmosphere where you get very professional elegant results. The first time C.C. colored my hair I went home and took a good look at it; I immediately called my sister to tell her I had the best colorist I've ever had. She's a client now also. We both love C.C. and her wonderfully creative talent so much. Pros: On time, collaborative, inexpensive Cons: None! more

~Get Hollywood Hair at Evolution!!~ 8/14/2005

I had my long blonde tresses colored to my ~beach blonde~! When I arrived in the affluent East Hampton, everyone asked "" who did your hair""? Of course I knew that they couldn't possibly be referring to my beautiful knock-out blonde color because that's my ~natural~color!! I reluctantly mustered the courage to imply that not only did Teresa cut my hair but that she also colored my hair! I actually put them at risk for heart attacks because they discovered that someone outside of ~the Hamptons~ could be THAT GREAT. But the undeniable truth is that she is just that... I am equally amazed by the work of Kara and that extremely hilarous and talented lady that does her magic in the chair behind Kara's who's name escapes me but whose jokes always entertain me:) Watch out for Tara- she's learning the ropes to perfection by the masters! I have found my colorist C.C. Vento. When she called me to tell me about the great salon shes at well I thought I would take the drive from NYC. The salon was hip and oh so friendly. The staff and owner treated me as good as any Madison Avenue salon ever had. Everyone had bright smiles and really knew their stuff. But I must say its for C.C. that I made the trip for. At one time she worked at another salon in bayside but i would never venture there. C.C. has been in every magazine and she is witty and very accomodating. Her hair color truly is movie star quality. Evolution salon is the un-salon. I am willing to make the journey anytime. Great haircolor from the master Carolyn ""C.C."" Vento. Check out owner Teresa for cuts and cara for up-dos. Run don't walk. Corrective Color Bliss.. 6/21/2005

I came to Evoluton with a serious project, I had jet black hair and wanted brown hair with copper blonde highlights. I had a consultation with Kara, where she explained to me that I would have to have corrective color done, explained each step, went over the cost and then asked me if I wanted to begin. I put my full trust in her skill and allowed her to give me the make-over of all make-overs! She talked me through each step, spoke in non-hairstylist terms so that ordinary people like myself would understand and really cared about not compromising the integrity of my hair..she also recommended a serious trim and conditioning treatment to ensure no damage!! I am so glad I went through the process, I have the hair I want and never thought I would have. No more box dyes for me!!! Pros: my hair!, excellent skill! more

I had been always going to the city to get my hair done--getting pretty good deals since I knew people there...But after my hair being messed up time after time--I decided to give somewhere local a try... Saw the great reviews Evolution had so I made an appt and I'm glad I did! Teressa did my hair and she helped me decide how to correct the color, what cut to get etc...I felt very comfortable and relaxed...I was exhausted from a late night =P so it was nice to be in a laid back environment ... Everyone was very friendly and accomodating and the shampoo (Noel) was one of the best I had gotten ...There was no pressure at all to buy any products--and I even got two for free which was really nice... A-MAZING! 4/27/2005

I can't rave enough about this salon. It is wonderful! I love all the girls, thanks for the great cut Kara! I have to work my way into color eventually, I'm going to need summer highlights and I know at this salon I will leave with my own color that was picked out for me, unlike some other neighborhood salons where every girl walks out with the same brassy highlights and Jennifer Aniston haircut circa 1995. Its great to find a salon that you not only get great service, but everyone is so easy to talk to and you have so much fun! Also, the assistants are amazing, Noel and Markella give you the greatest head massage you almost forget you are getting shampoo, its so relaxing! I can't wait to recommed my friends! Need a Colorist? SEE BERNICE! AAA+ 4/25/2005

If you are not sure what looks best on you, see Bernice. She is a delight and won't sway you. Whether you want a new look or need to color that gray, she's the one to do it. Bernice has great flair with a scissor too! Not humdrum or ordinary. Salon is ultra chic and comfortable. The staff is cheerful, they know their products and won't push you. You will be in for a treat when you visit. Pros: Close to expressway, Funny, witty staff, comfy atmosphere more

Evolution of suburbia 4/12/2005

I'm often subjected to stylists who work in a suburban atmosphere and really have no idea what they're doing. They're out of touch with urban trends, and have no idea how to cut curly hair. Unless you're a suburban housewife, chances are you'd want to go to an urban salon for an urban cut. The hellish subway commute isn't necessary - just head over to Evolution. They'll give you a great cut in a great atmosphere for a great price, and when you get your pretty little cut you don't have to worry about city smog immediately destroying it since you'll be in lovely Bayside. These gals know what they're doing, and that's a comfort to all, especially to us curly-haired ladies. Good cuts for the curly-haired are hard to come by. Fear not, the Evolution maidens will do your curly (or straight, wavy, or what have you) tresses justice. more

Amazing. 3/8/2005

I can't describe how great this salon is...the decor is so cute, the staff is amazingly talented and fun and my hair is the best it has been in years! I have a fabulous cut and new color...a consultation really goes a long way. Kara spent a half and hour talking to me before she began her magic and I really felt pleased that she payed that much attention to what I wanted. I love this salon..I just want to visit once a wee to see the girls and chat a little! Pros: Kara, the staff, my hair! Cons: are u kidding? none! more

Evolution is a great salon. Very cozy, trendy, and hip. It almost looks like it doesn't belong in Queens. The girls are very talented. I've been getting my hair done there for almost 2 years and I never walk out disappointed. more

I live in Great Neck (Land of Salon's) I went to Evolution for a change and was it ever. My hairdresser, Bernice was wonderful. She really listened to what I wanted, she then gave me some suggestions. She did my color, highlights and a cut. What a transformation. Beautiful, I am so pleased. She did a fabulous job. Better than any shop in Great Neck. Evolution is now my shop and Bernice is my Hairdresser. Try her, you will be so pleased. Pros: Great Color, Great Price, nice atmosphere more

A wonderful experience 1/13/2005

I just went to Evolution Salon. It was a wonderful experience. My hairdresser was Bernice. I got a haircut, base color and highlights. Bernice did a beautiful job. The color is perfect and the cut is the best I ever had. The Shop has a great atmosphere, and everyone is so friendly. I have difficult hair and sometimes come home with a cut I hate. Bernice did such a great job. She listened to what I wanted and gave me the perfect cut. I highly recommend this shop. I will definitely go back to Bernice. The stylists at Evolution are a great bunch of talented girls. They do everything they can to make sure your experience at the the salon is a good one. I went in for color and a cut, and walked out looking and feeling great. Wonderful service, wonderful conversation, and an awsome hair do, what more can you ask for. more
