Emergency Vet 1/18/2016

Late one night my sisters cat was vomiting and was visiting the litter box every few minutes. I became increasingly concerned as she constantly felt the need to go. I called the Airport Pet Emergency Clinic and they let me know that this was in fact an emergency! My sister was more than uneasy about me bringing her pet to the vet without her, but I knew we had to go. I never would have known that my sisters cat was constipated and that it was such a serious situation if the APEC vet wasn't there to let me know. Although my sister was nervous, she was so happy to hear that they were able to take care of her baby and gave her the help she needed. The prices are different than our regular vet, but being an emergency clinic where we could go in the middle of the night and get immediate help was amazing! Thank you for all you do Emergency Vet! more

I have had my pets to the Airport Pet Emergency Clinic many times and have never been disappointed. They are so friendly from the front desk staff to the doctors and technicians. Recently they saved my Miniature Schnauzer after I took her in for vomiting and having bloody diarrhea. She had pancreatitis and they treated her like the little baby she is. They're more expensive than my regular veterinarian, for certain things, but the bloodwork was very comparable to my vet in price. They even had her results in 30 minutes and my vet takes at least a day for lab work to be returned. When I picked her up they gave me a large packet detailing the treatments she received every single hour of her hospitalization. This is exactly the kind of care this concerned momma wants for her babies. Anytime my pets have an emergency they will be seen here. You couldn't ask for more from an emergency clinic. more

I'm not sure where to begin...\r \r My experience at the animal was a long lasting horrible one,\r First off I brought my American Pit bull in. He's 9 years old very healthy and was raised properly. He and his son got into a scuffle and his ears had lacerations that I thought would need sutures. I wrapped his ears because he kept shaking his head making his wounds worse and bleeding more. \r It was 10PM when I brought him in. (Roscoe in his name) we waited for 2 hours got called in to the room and sat for another hour. The actual DVM came in stating he was growling and she could not see his wounds to address him. \r I stated why are you just now telling me this after hours, I would be more than happy to come back there and get him out of the cage. ( I don't have a cage and don't believe in caging animals) was the reason I thought. When I walked back there he was shaking and bleeding all over the floor and slinging blood inside the cage. I demanded an explanation for not addressing this, and asked for gauze and a wrap so I could wrap his ears myself.(now I know why he was growling) I was basically told since he was a pit a growling they were going to address the other animals and then tend to him later.\r After getting him in the room the DVM stated she would get an estimate together for sedating him and addressing the wounds because they cant take the chance of getting bit. even with me there and a muzzle.... I said ok I guess she has still not once looked at his wounds basically guessing at this point.\r Another hour had passed ( now 4 hours into this) she walked in the room with an ($718.00) bill!!!! Now im not a doctor but I do have common sense and I know what is necessary and not I see that $300.00+ is a bunch of bull he does not need and way overpriced pills. even the Vet tech told me that. The Vet tech gives me a pamphlet with this credit info on it and demands me that I call this number and get a credit card so I can afford the $718.00 bill. because I questioned all the unnecessary fees that I saw. I told him I would look into it as a last resort only. He thought that since I would get approved I would just pay $718 because im not paying for it right now instead over many months. Well I can read between the lines my friend and saw this a mile away. \r By this time im mad im tired and my dog has been neglected for too long. 1 more hour later. (5 hours now- 3:00AM) The Vet Tech walks in and ask for the credit card info so they can charge me. I said NO I told you it was a last resort!! They give me a new bill for $384.00??? I sign the paper and they sedate him and take him to the back within 5 min. of me signing the paper and paying them. They tell me to come back in 4-5 hours and i came get him. when i do he has this cheap cone way to tight on his head and blood running out it. They didn't clean him up at all when they should have done it while he was sedated. they only did sutures and put him back in the cage to wake up!! Now I have to put him threw more pain cleaning his dried blood.!\r Now with all this being said. All I can say is this Animal hospitals main priority is MONEY first and the care for your animal second. Im not happy im not impressed i would never recommend anyone to go there within having plenty of money in the bank and thick skin. They are under staffed and not very professional. I'm very sad my dog had to go threw this process. If this was life threatening and i couldn't pay $718. then what... My First Dog which is my son to me by every meaning of the word because i unfortunately cannot have kids, would have died because of my bank account. This disgraces me to high heaven and i feel like my story needs to be heard and seen by others and this business. more

I cannot say enough good things about Airport Pet Emergency Clinic! My baby slipped on our hardwood floor and broke her leg. It was a Saturday afternoon and my vet was closed. I took her to APEC and was immediately greeted by the sweetest and kindest people who took little Foxy to the back to check her out while I checked her in. \r \r The young woman who checked me in immediately told me what the cost for the visit would be and told me if there were more charges involved, I would be given the amount to approve BEFORE I was charged. \r \r They kept me informed of everything - how Fox was doing, what they needed to do for her and the cost for the services to approve - I found that reassuring!! If I was to go the ER for anything, the cost would be way more than just going to my family MD and I would not know all the charges until I received the multiple bills in the mail! \r \r I am so thankful for the WONDERFUL staff, the excellent service, the upfront information of the cost and the care more

These people are available when your personal vet is unavailable. Their hours are what most people would NOT want to work, yet when I needed help at an 'off peak' time, they were there. It is so reassuring to know help is available 24/7. \r \r Foxy is not just our dog, she is part of our family. Thank you, APEC!! You have made a wonderful impression on me. You are rated A+++++++ in my book and I will recommend you to anyone who has a need 'after hours'. more

My sweet little dog got into a bottle of my multivitiams I called just about every vet around and not knowing if she would be okay they all suggested me to call poison control, at first I refuse because of the fee they charge but my little girl means everything to me so I went ahead and called. They told me I needed to take her to the vet due to all the iron in those vitamins, so I called Airport Pet Emergency Clinic and told them I would be bringing her in, and it wasnt too far from my house! When I got there I automatically felt welcomed, the staff was amazing. The only thing I could complain about was the wait time. Once the nurse got in the room she made me feel completely at ease. They told me they were going to write up an estimate and bring it to me m, after they explained what they were going to do. They wouldn't charge me anything unless I signed off on it, which was fantastic! Because most places go ahead and do it and not let you know how much it will be until you are getting ready to pay. THEY WERE AMAZING! If I have any further trouble with my little husky I will definitely take her there! more

They were really kind but won't be going back 'cus they're too far from where we live. \r We had 4 kittens + mom who we took in. 1 kitten was sick & having terrible vomiting and diarrhea. They did some tests & gave some meds - total $227. They gave some meds for free to us. And they didn't try to sell us any food.\r Kitten still vomits 2 days later, and he's skinnier than the others. Tomorrow, we'll take him to a closer vet. Hopefully it's cheaper. more

You may as well stay home 12/29/2012

13 hrs and 1200.00 ( for an Iv, catheter, 3 injections of diazepam, 2 blood panels and one urinalysis) they had no diagnosis, the vet tech Jeremy was rude and callous, the veterinarian did not once actually come to the phone and speak to us about our dogs condition. Never again will we go there instead in an emergency our animals will be seen by Animal Emergency and Specialty Center in Knoxville 10213 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, Tennessee 37922 (865) 693-4440 instead. They have state of the art diagnostic tools, a friendly staff and cost wise they are not much more expensive than this sorry excuse for an emergency clinic. I just wish we had known about them earlier our dog may still be here with us. more

ANGRY IN JONESBOROUGH!!!!!!!!! 12/5/2011

The doctors and staff that run Airport Pet Emergency hospital ,run it like they're trying to make a deal on a used car. Took my cat in last weekend,he told me to sit down to hear the 1st quote,it was $1,349. At that moment I wanted to punch the little heartless "prick"( that called himself a doctor) inthe FACE. I agreed to a procedure to drain urine from my cats bladder since he couldnt urinate. And, an antibiotic, and left there praying my cat would make it till I got into my regular vet in the morning .The whole time they were doing the procedure ,I could hear my cat crying in pain, while the doctor and nurse(or whatever her title was that night) chuckled in amusement...I've been begging my regular vet(Indian Ridge Animal Hospital,Kingsport) to open an emergency clinic,so us pet owners will have a safe, afforadable place to take our pets when they're ill, after 5pm and weekends. I refuse to ever go back there. Please, other pet owners, talk to you own vet about options for your animal more

What do you want in an Emergency Vet? 7/10/2011

Can you compare an emergency vet clinic apples to apples with your local vet's office? Well, no... not really. more

Very Dissatisfied 2/23/2011

I am very dissatisfied with the lack of professionalism and service provided at the Bloutville Airport Pet Emergency Clinic. I am not from this area and when I called for directions they sent me 70 miles out of my way. Finallyt after I called the third time I got someone else on the phone and they told me that I was going in this wrong direction. Once I got there the vet did not have anything to say about my dogs condition. She just simply didn't know what to do about it. She (welch) just gave my dog an antiflamatory and told us that's all she could do. No sugestions for xray or other tests. Than when her assistant was explaining the bill to me she said that I was not going to be charged the $80 exam fee. I thought that's nice since they gave me wrong directions twice. But then she realized she had the wrong bill and returned with mine which was more than twice as much and had the exam fee. This was highly unprofessional. I will never go back there ever again and suggest others to see more

Thanks to Airport Pet Emergency for saving my Rhodie when he bloated and Rosie when she had pneumonia. Dr. Welch and James (and the staff) are the best. Don't you folks that are complaining know that "Emergency" means you pay for the services you can't receive from your regular vet? I sympathize with losing a beloved pet but "having a heart" will not keep this clinic in business. This wonderful clinic cannot operate on promises of payment or charity and would certainly close because of those deadbeats who expect treatment but will not pay for it..We can thank them for that. Thank You Pet Emergency!! You are the best! more

Wheres the Vets in Wise County 11/3/2010

I live in Wise County VA where I know that 5 Vets live in. Now the problem is if your dog or cat gets sick you call an will receive a message telling you to take your pet to Blountville Emergency Animal Hospital in TN!!! Now I don't know about you but if it is a emergency chances are your not going to make it in time to save your pet. Question why can't one of the 5 vets take turns being the vet on call. Or just do like before have your emergency number available. Instead of having your customers drive to TN just to be told no matter what is bothering your pet you better have a check or credit card. Or you not seen. more

Money Games how much do you love your pet? 10/10/2010

This clinic is like dealing with dirty salesmen or something. We took our cat in for a urinary infection first price they gave us was almost $1000 dollars we said no we just can't afford that, then they come back with $500 dollars again we say no we can't afford that then third time they come in with $250 to drain bladder and give shot, we agreed to it and took him to our regular vet next day where they put him to sleep and kept body for $15. While we were at the emergency clinic a guy comes in with dog they charge him $60 to put it to sleep and he carries the dog out taped up in some pee pads. This place should just be shut down really. Its just a money game to them. If you don't have a extra $1000 laying around don't bother going there! more

blountville airport emergency clinic 9/24/2010

I took my small dog to them bleeding from the nose and sneezing profusly, they charged me 300 dollars for the tech to take his temp and a antibiotic shot, and told me to bring him back tomorrow night if no better. i took him back they collected another 400 dollars said they would do a scope to see if he had anything in his nose or throat...he was put under anaesthesia the vet never came out to talk to me prior to the procedure, afterwards he came out said he didnt see any foriegn bodies and did not look at the throat..my dog got worse I took him to UT animal hospital who also scoped him and found a twig in his nose......700 dollars spent here (on a credit card) and they done nothing to help him even told me they couldnt see any foriegn bodies in his nose..he suffered for a week because of this,,, I dont have a lot of faith in this place It appears its all about money and no real concern for your pet more

$1200 C-section 6/6/2010

I have a little Boston Terrier who needs a c-section and I was told the fee would be around $1200 dollars. Are these people out of there minds? We need a Vet not someone who is trying a get rich quick. I love her and now I will more than likely loose her because the services they offer are multiplyed not 2x but 3-4 times. I am so sad there is not another Vet out there who would not offer services for pets at a descent price even double would be great. more

Only the rich animals can be seen 5/7/2010

Thanks to the Hospital 5/3/2010

On Saturday evening at 6 pm, my shih tsu was attacked by my neighbors dog in our yard. It took two adults to get the other dog off of him. He was violently shaken by the neck and was bleeding from the bite. Immediately we called them, then drove to the emergency hospital. My dog was in "very" bad shape (and so was I from the trauma). They told us on the phone that Santana would be taken back if he was bleeding and they were true to their word. They examined him, brought us an estimate for his care of $600 which we agreed to and they performed emergency surgery after getting his pain under control. We even got to let him recover from surgery that night at home. It was a little scary because he had four drain tubes. By Sunday morning, I was scared one of the tubes was draining blood and not infection, etc. I called them and they told me for my peace of mine to bring him back at no charge. They cleaned him up and gave me a good report. This was two days ago and in another day more

Airport Pet Emergency Clinic is all about money not the welfare of the pet 1/4/2010

Our 8 mo old puppy was hit by a car yesterday when she accidently got out of the house. We immediately rushed her to the clinic and she was taken in the back. I was put in a room by myself and then they bought out an inital "estimate" of over $300. When I asked what this would cover I was told that it would only pay for walking in the door and x-rays. When I asked what they thought was wrong with her I was told that she definately had a broken leg but that there were probable internal injuries. I asked what the cost would be if all they found was the broken leg and was told that they didn't do surgery there and that the would splint it and I would have to take her to another vet where the surgery to repair the leg would cost around $1500. They finially brought her into the room so I could see her and she was having trouble breathing. I asked if she did have internal damage if she could be saved. They said that until I paid for the x-rays they were not going to tell me anything further. more

Airport Pet has No heart..... 12/17/2007

A lady that lives down the road from me came to my house Sunday December 16,2007 about 10:00 am crying with her little poodle mix in arms. the dog was seizing real bad, The lady had taken the dog to her vet Saturday for shots. The Vet also give her 2 prescriptions to give the dog the nest morning. One was Amoxicillin 100 the other was Trimeprazine Tartrate with Predizone. She gave said medicine to dog at 9:30 am The vet's office which gave her the med's was closed but on their answering machine thay advised to call the Pet Emergency Hospital at the airport which she did. The lady which answered the phone was more interested in money than the health of the animal and told my friend that they haveto have money before anything could be done. I tried frantically to call around and find avet's office open. Then I called the Airport Pet Emergency Clinic. The lady that answered the phone did not even state her name, I informed her of the dogs situation and also told her the owner had called. more
