Timeline for my experience with an ARS routine maintenance service call for ductless AC units. - Called ARS to schedule a routine annual maintenance check on the ductless AC unit...

The tech from ARS quickly found the 5/21/2012

The tech from ARS quickly found the problem with our furnace when another company could not. He told us exactly what needed to be done to replace is and he was able to do it easily. We were impressed with his help in a â??not-my-jobâ?? society that we often encounter. Keep up the quality of employees! more

These guys will hose you. Charge you 2/29/2012

These guys will hose you. Charge you almost $200 just to show up, and perform a ""diagnosis"" that doesn't help anything. The guys told me a water filter for humidifier will cost $150 when I saw the same one online for about $12. Unless you already stuck with these guys for a annual service for which you have already been hosed, simply stay away. more

Just had my furnace repaired by ARS 2/28/2012

Just had my furnace repaired by ARS tech Chris. He was very knowledgeable, checked all devices, and showed me a variety of options for replacement and service. We discussed financing options as well. After selecting from my options, my entire house was heating a very short time later. He is an excellent tech and even filled in for a 'Comfort Specialist' that was unavailable due to his wife going into labor. Kudos! more

They are an absolute waist of time. We 1/20/2012

They are an absolute waist of time. We had a $50 coupon and decided to give it a try. We have been trying to get our water heater fixed since December 21st. It is now a month later and nothing has been done. They took a $50 diagnostic fee only to never complete the work. The water heater is even under warranty. They should have been able to get the parts for free to fix it and get paid for the work by the water heater company. It is simple service work. Instead, it is a month later and all they have done is pass me off to multiple people within this so called ""business"". They are a scam and not a single person was capable of getting anything done. DO NOT USE THIS ARS/RESCUE ROOTER!!! EVEN IF THEY SAY THE SERVICE IS FREE. THEY ARE HORRIBLE AND SHOULD BE UNEMPLOYED. more

No need for this company 1/4/2012

As I sit here for the 3rd day waiting for ARS Rescue Rooter to show up, I felt the need to share my experience. I found this company via the net and was drawn towards their pricing for a simple drain clog. I called the number and the call was answered by some type of answering service. I know this based on the questions I was asked (collecting information for further marketing). After 5 minutes on the phone, I set an appointment for 12 - 2 that day. At approximately 1:45 I was called by the office and told the technician was running behind and was asked if it was ok for them to come a few hours later. I understand that things happen and said "sure, no worries". About 3 hours later I was called again and told the "technician" had been in an automobile accident and wouldn't be able to make it. I suppose it is possible, but I have to say I find that excuse highly unlikely. I was asked if we could reschedule for the following day, to which I replied that I needed to check my wife's schedule. I called back about 5 minutes later and after 5 minutes on hold spoke to someone else to reschedule. I was given the 8-10 am slot for 2 days later. Well I am still sitting here at 11:06 and we are at a no call no show. I have a small child and have planned my day around this appointment. There is absolutely nothing worse than a contractor not showing up or even calling. I have read all of the other reviews and they are all 5 star. I have a hard time believing these are legitimate, as there is another review page for this same company and they are all negative. I wish I would have read these before wasting three days! more

Great experience 12/22/2011

Your service tech, Mr. Chris Van Meter was excellent! This was an emergency week-end call (no heat); and his response to my home was prompt and courteous. (In no way did I ever feel this was an "inconvenience" late on a Sunday afternoon). He had to return the next day to actually repair the furnace. He was extremely courteous, and exceptionally professional. He explained every step to me, and even warned be before-hand about unusual noise. (hyper animal shares home). I requested extra business cards and believe me, when a co-worker asks for a reference, I plan to hand them one of his cards and highly recommend both Chris and your company. In an era when "customer service" sometimes seems like it no longer exists, many businesses could take lessons from your employees and Mr. Van Meter. I will not hesitate to call you again with any future problems. In fact, due to Mr. Van Meters excellent explanations of cost savings (and the age of my furnice and a/c ) I also purchased one of your ins more

Bogus pricing! 12/1/2011

I had a backed up laudry room drain and extraction well, and was worried about water damage. Since I just moved into my house, I was unsure of what was causing this backup and assumed it was the extraction pump, but could not remove the well cover. ARS came out and immediately gave me a base charge of $196 as an hourly fee. The plumber removed my extraction pump well cover in all of 5 minutes and deduced that the pump was fine, but the check valve above it was malfuntioning. After a quick discussion with his manager he gave me a price of $496 to replace this plastic check valve. I expressed concern over the price for a simple valce and he ensured me that it was a good deal and that they had already knocked $100 off the price and would extend the warranty to 2 years. Still unsure of this price, I grabbed the check valve manufacturer and model number and did a quick online search. The price I found had me steaming... $34! On every website of looked at $34, $34, and then $27 on Amazon! I called ARS and expressed my concerns with the manager that had given the plumber the quote. He stated that he wished he could get parts for that cheap, but unfortunately was unable to. He would not tell me what his costs were for this plastic valve and refused to breakdown the $496 quote, simply stating that they were a flat-rate company. (Every flat-rate company I have dealt with in the past has all prices for services, and sometimes parts, in writing for the customer.) I asked if this was company policy or just his personal preference and he rplied that he simply would not give me their pricing. After I refused to pay this BOGUS PRICING, the plumber replaced my well cover and left... after my $196 consult fee of course. I went back to the extraction well, turned the check valve to off and then on again, and plugged in the pump... TADAH! It worked great! Turns out I had briefly clogged up the valve after washing my down comforter and all that was needed was a little wiggle. This shows me that the plumber didn't even look into the valve or inspect it, but rather was going to charge me $500 for a replacement based on a notion! Overall, poor customer service, poorly educated plumbers, and managers who obviously try to take advantage of unknowing customers for a quick payday. I will never recommend this company to anyone. Ever. BOGUS! more
