A Paw Spa

We left our dog there last weekend because we had an urgent family situation and could not get into another kennel in time. We made it clear we were going to pick him up on Sunday but when we got there nobody was at the kennel to help us. Nobody answered the phone and the door was locked. We had to track down a girl who was hanging around outside to find someone to help us. Our dog was delivered back to us with fleas and was touchy and withdrawn when we picked him up. We also found two ticks on him. Next time we'll go somewhere else. Cons: Staff not there when agreed, flea problem more

My wife and I recently moved here from the Bay Area but still need to commute back there 2 days a week for work. We have two schipperkes we need to board one or two nights each week and decided after reading the mixed reviews we'd just go see for ourselves. When we got there we weren't sure if we were in the right place...we couldn't tell if this was a kid's nursery, abandoned junk yard in a time-warp since the 70s, or a place where animals are confined and tortured. In the parking lot were rusty old trucks, vans, boats, cars, general junk, kid's toys, a crying barefoot toddler and a fringe-y looking guy with a dangling cigarette. What we assumed was the dog yard was brown, weedy and overgrown with absolutely no signs of life but from the car we heard what sounded like an ear-splitting doggie-riot...and the humans (if there were any) didn't seem to be winning. We double-checked the address and were dismayed to find we were in the ""right"" place. It was Sunday and there was no one in the office but we'd seen enough. If we have to go to another town for professional care of our dogs, so be it. Pros: Couldn't find any Cons: Scary! more

I love the owner and all her staff! They've always been extremely warm and welcoming while being professional. When I call they always squeeze my girl in to get a wash! The groomer is so in tune with what a dog's needs are I don't have to worry about her safety. It's like her second home when she's there! The kennels are roomy for any size animal. The staff has always notified me of any fleas or ticks found on my pooch! I recommend A Paw Spa to all my family and friends for their boarding and grooming needs! Pros: The staff is super friendly and accomodating! more

2 dogs, 2 grooming catastrophes that made my pups the laughing stock of the dog park. How hard can it be to do a nice warm-weather trim instead of a hack job? Won't be going back for grooming. The facility is very run-down and institutional so boarding there is out of the question. more

Our dog was returned to us with fleas and a deep bite wound that staff didn't tell us about. He also acted skittish around men and growled at them which has never happened before. Cons: Dog was bitten there. Staff either didn't notice or wouldn't mention it. Curt and unfriendly. more

We heard this place used to be a vet but now it's run down way noisy and smells bad with peeling paint. The dog kennels are tiny and dreary might be OK when a dog is sick or hurt but wouldn't be good for healthy pets. The doggie exercise places are postage-stamp size. We have a kitty too and were horrified to see the kitties in bare little metal cages stacked up on top of each other and have to listen to all the barking. We got our two sweet poochies and kitty from the pound and this depressing place was so much like the pound we don't want them to think they are going back to jail :-( more

i currently board my animals in this facility and reccomend all my friends and family to because my animals love the place. I myself work in the animal care industry and would allow no other place for my pets to stay then here and my home. the staff is always superfriendly and makes me as well as my children(pets) feel very comfortable. Some dogs dont do as well in kennels because of anxiety issues but i feel that the staff does everything they can in their power to make them feel loved. my dogs love to play with the other dogs and feel like they're at their second home in a Paw Spa. It's obvious the owner of this place keeps writing bogus reviews (all caps, same spelling and grammatical errors) every time an actual customer tells the truth about their boarding experience at Paw Spa. I wish I'd read the reviews before leaving my two dogs there last spring. They overcharged me, lost the toys and blankets I brought in for them during their stay, and gave the general impression they couldn't care less whether I did business with them or not. The location was convenient but if that's how they treat the people, I'm too worried about substandard care of the animals there to think about boarding her again at this place. I love my pets as do most of us who own a animal, so when I left them at A Paw Spa I expected them to be treated well and taken care of properly. Both of them are well behaved and very sweet . On my return they smelled so badly that I had to bathe both of them as soon as we got them home. They were also covered with fleas to a point I could not believe. I was asked to come in the back because one of them wouldn't come out of the kennel, the man who was there said ""she doesn't like me for some reason."" Both of them love everyone so this really bothered me. I was told they didn't eat much, which was apparent by their weight loss. I was also told there was ALWAYS someone there with them which I found not to be true when we got there a little early to pick them up and no one answered the bell and we had to come back . Over all not happy. We will not be leaving them there again! more

I WAS TRAVELING FROM LA TO SAN FRANCISCO AND STOPPED FOR A REST AND FOUND MYSELF W/OUT A HOTEL THAT WOULD ACCOMIDATE ME AND MY FURRY FRIEND MR. WIGGLES. I WAS TOLD ABOUT A PAW SPA FROM A LOCAL. THEY WERE FRIENDLY AND ABLE TO HELP EVEN ON SUCH SHORT NOTICE. THEY WERE WILLING TO CALL MY VET TO ABTAIN PROPER RECORDS IN ORDER TO BOARD MY MR.WIGGLES. UPON A TOUR I FOUND THE FICILITY WAS CLEAN, SAFE AND THE ANIMALS CONTENT. I OBSERVED DOGS BEING WALKED, PLAYED WITH AND HAPPY WAGGING TAILS. THANKS PAW SPA. Circumstances beyond my control led me to board my dog here without being able to do the research or see the place first. When I saw (and heard) this place, it broke my heart to leave a member of my family in such a terrible place. She wouldn't even go in! The barking and whining was deafening, the facilities were dirty and cold, and my 80 pound pittie was scared to death of the place. She is known as the ""class clown"", is always happy and lovable, and is everyone's favorite no matter where we go. But here she would not even leave the corner of the tiny kennel. We picked her up first thing in the morning and she wouldn't eat all day, huddled next to us or sat on our laps, and cried like we have never heard her cry before. The only positive part of the experience was the kind and accomodating young lady who worked the night shift. Otherwise, a nightmare experience! more
