Authentic Amazing Sushi! Black Rice Sushi was Awesome! 1/7/2010

We went there because a friend of ours was raving about Zaidis. We are huge sushi fans so we thought we would try it. From the moment we walked in we knew we found a great new place. The decor and atmosphere are excellent. There are fire pillars and a giant glass mermaid. Then we tried the food. I ordred a Z Crunch Roll (large orders of sushi) and my fiance ordered the sashimi. We also tried the black rice sushi. We are planning our next visit to try other menu items. Next time we will have a martini - they looked really good. So glad to have a place like this in Naperville! One word to summarize = Awesome. Pros: Amazing sushi and great menu Cons: location a little hard to see from 59 (83rd and Rt 59) more

Great Restaurant - Wonderful Evening 8/10/2009

My husband took me here for dinner and I was so impressed I wanted to write a review and share my experience. The food was over the top excellent (felt like we had driven to Chicago), ambience wonderful and we really enjoyed our server. I tried a martini and it was absolutely the best I've ever had. I believe I've only had a martini a few times in my life because I usually don't care for them, but this one will have me coming back again just for another one. They were so attractive so I ordered one...now I'm hooked. Great evening. We really enjoyed ourselves and will be back again soon. Sure glad we tried it. Pros: Great Martini - Excellent Food and Ambiance Cons: A little tucked away off of 59 more

Bring lots of money 6/26/2009

Nothing good to say about this place. Its way over priced the food has no flavor its for people with big eagos who want to throw away their money Pros: The best thing about this Resteraunt is the parking lot Cons: Over priced average food more

Very expensive, not worth the price 2/25/2009

I took my wife out to Zaidi's to try something new in the Naperville area. She was thrilled at my efforts. The place is very romantic and the atmosphere is suburb, but that is where the rave reviews end. The service was slow, the prices were insulting and the food was average. We were completely disappointed and wish we would have spent our money someplace else. Pros: Atmosphere Cons: slow service, average food, very expensive more

This is more like Downtown LA or New York than Naperville, IL 2/24/2009

I've visited Zaidi's on numerous ocassions since his opening through yesterday. Pros: Quality of food & offerings are unparalelled Cons: They have disappeared over the last four months more

excellent food... great drinks 2/20/2009

The sushi was some of the best I have had. The drinks were great. A little pricey but well worth it. Pros: location, parking Cons: a little expensive more

Best Sushi and Service 2/18/2009

My husband and I love sushi and we are always looking for new sushi places to try out. My husband has been to Japan and had some of the finest sushi in the world - he said nothing could compare ... until we stumbled upon Zaidi's. The fire chief roll is our new favorite, but every roll we order is melt-in-your-mouth fabulous!!! We have dined at several other local sushi places and Zaidi's exceeds them all - the fish is always fresh and the wait staff is extremely friendly. Zaidi always makes a point to visit his guests and ask if their expectations have been met. We always want to try their other menu items, but we can never seem to pass up the sushi. And to top it all off, they have the best desserts - the baked Alaskan, banana bread with ice cream, and the little fried donuts are out of this world. And, even the atmosphere is awesome - the decor is really unique and the whole place is relaxing. It is more $ than other local sushi places, but it's well worth it and you are getting top quality food and service. Bottom line - great food, great service, great ambiance. more

Beautiful Restaurant 2/11/2009

After eating at this restaurant I am craving the food! The space is beautiful, crazy and unique decor, my drink was awesome, and we had the most polite waiter I've had in a long time. Try the volcanic rock and the sliders, they're both amazing appetizers. From someone who lives in the city, it holds true to its reputation as having the Chicago vibe. I anticipate many return visits! Pros: Love the vibe, quality meat and ingredients Cons: Above average priced more

Just OK for lunch, Not impressed for dinner 2/11/2009

I have dinned at Zaidi's once before for lunch and it was pretty good. So when an out of town business associate came into town I thought we would try it for dinner. I assumed from all the great reviews that me and my associate were in for a great night. It was unfortunate but Zaidi's did not meet my expectations. Slow service, took forever in between courses, and the food when it did finally arrive was something I could have received at any generic chain restaurant in the area. I thought maybe this was my new place to impress my clients but it just didn't measure up. I would maybe try Zaidi's again but only if the food and service greatly improved. more

Great New Restaurant in Naperville! 2/9/2009

Zaidi's is definitely our favorite new restaurant! My husband and I always enjoy dining out now that our kids are gone. We decided to try Zaidi's after reading the great review in the Napervile magazine and have found it to be our new place to eat. The food is excellent and the service has been great both times we have been there (in the last 2 1/2 weeks). The first visit I ordered the wild salmon filet and my husband had the lamb shank. Both excellent. We started with the seared tuna, which is so good you will be craving it again the next day. The atmosphere is great and the food is delightful. We were checked on many times to make sure everything was good. This place is a must try. This place feels like it should be in Chicago! We are so glad to have the likes of this type of restaurant in Naperville. Keep up the good work. Highly Recommended. Pros: City dining without traveling to the city. Cons: a little tucked away more

average food for the yuppies 2/9/2009

Don't waste your time, there are many other great places in the area. This place tries to hard to be upscale and as a result the food and the service suffers. The yuppies can have this place, it's not for me. more

Finally something different and incredible 2/8/2009

Before I begin my review, I'm comment on the last review posted by Bouga99. I don't think Bouga99 read the guidelines. They say ""Play Fair. If you had a bad night, then review your evening and then go to bed. Don't insult other reviewers! To say that all the other reviews must be from employees is the dumbest thing that I have ever read. Why? Just because Bouga99 didn't have the perfect evening? Sounds like Bouga99 has an agenda. Why would one less-than-perfect experience into an assault on anyone else who has reviewed this restaurant? If I sound defensive, that's because I've been back twice since my first visit on 01-28-09, and Zaidis has been the picture of great food, great service and great ambiance. Remember something else: This place hasn't even been open for four months. If everything is not 5-star perfect, how about going a little easier, and then try it again? Pros: Incredible food served by people who want you to enjoy Cons: A little hidden more

Overpriced average food 2/8/2009

I had noticed this new sushi, seafood, steakhouse resturant and was really excited to try it out. I live in the Aurora/Naperville area and am always looking for new places to try. I had made reservations for a Saturday night, based on the reviews I read that Zaidi's can get very crowded. We arrived on time for our 7pm reservation to find absolutly no one waiting to be seated.? We checked in and were told it would be another 20 minutes. They offered to buy us a drink at the bar while we wait, very nice. The bar was very swanky looking and I could see hanging out there for a few drinks. I orderd the Geisha martini and my husband ordered a Stoli Vodka martini, both were very good. We were seated in the dining room and were greated by our waiter who seemed in a huge hurry to get our order. To start we orderd the spicy tuna roll and the fire fighter roll. Both were okay, nothing special and definity not worth the price. I have had way better sushi in the area at Momoya, Wild Tuna and Domo 77! For our entree, I orderd the shrimp, for $30 you get 6 shrimp. You read that right, 6 shrimp! Totally not worth the money. I don't mind spending $30 on a meal if it is absolutly delicious, but this was bland and boring. My husband ordered the lamb shank. He said it was okay but again, nothing special. When placing our order our waiter had asked us, ""soup or salad"", asuming it was included by the way he asked, we went with the lobster bisque. To our surprise when the bill came, it was not included and was $8 each. This place in theory is great and the atmosphere was nice but other then that, the food is average at best and completly overpriced! Makes me wonder who wrote all these good reviews, employees maybe..? I would only recommend this place for a drink after eating dinner, someplace else! Pros: atmosphere was nice Cons: overpriced, food in nothing special more

Keep your eye's peeled for this gem 1/28/2009

Have gone for lunch at Zaidi's a few times now on business and it is a great spot. Unfortunately, I have ordered the same thing (seared Tuna) since it is by far the best Tuna I have had - seared to perfection and melts in your mouth. Hostess and Bartendress are great - very friendly and social. Atmosphere is wonderful. The bar area is very relaxing and a great spot to hang out. Dining area is very elegant. As others have stated, you need to keep your eye out for it, since it is tucked away off of 59. There has been a boon in new restraunts in this area, so competition is high. Other new eateries offering sushi in the near vicinity are Wild Tuna and Tokyo Bay. I have been to both and Zaidi's is the tops. Highly recommend this spot. You will not be disappointed! Pros: Atmosphere, Taste, Selection, Service Cons: Use your Garmin! more

I Discovered Zaidi's! 1/27/2009

I want to start this review by first acknowledging that I'm in the restaurant business, and have been in the business for about thirty years. As someone who loves food, I enjoy trying new restaurants. Pros: Great food, great service, and beautiful presentation Cons: A little tucked away off of Route 59 more

Hidden Gem in Naperville 1/25/2009

Zaidi's is my new favorite place to be. I crave the food here and every visit to Zaidi's is worth the drive. I drive all the way from Chicago and am always blown away by the service, the food and the ambiance. The attention to detail is unbelievable the servers are knowledgeable and make great reccomendations (so far everything on this menu has been over the top wonderful). We tried the crunchy Z roll and considered ordering more of that same roll till we were completely full. Both of us agreed it was the best sushi roll we had ever had. Zaidi's is a dining experience, everything has been perfected and is the best of the best. We spend hours here enjoying martinis and handcrafted drinks, we start with sushi, sashimi, the kobe sliders are mouthwatering....everything here is just perfect. I highly recommend going to Zaidi's, bring sushi lovers, bring steak eaters anyone who enjoys a great night out this is the place. I can't wait to get back and try yet another Zaidi's specialty. Pros: Something memorable for everyone's taste! Cons: Driving from Chicago-but always worth the drive:) more

Get to Zaidi's! 1/11/2009

Zaidi's is located in South Naperville - just off Rte. 59. I first heard of Zaidi's after a friend told me about their blog. The blog had a link to the menu, and after reading it, I knew that I had to get there. My husband and I went there on a Thursday. We each started with one of Zaidi's signature martinis and then ordered two orders of sliders. I don't usually care for martinis, but the Geisha is so delicious and refreshing that I am now a convert. For dinner, I ordered the Braised Lamb Shank. The lamb shank is served with ""mint infused couscous, scallion ponzu & lychee black vinegar reduction"" (a quote from the menu). All I can tell you is that it was the best lamb that I've ever had in my life. When lamb is cooked correctly, it's great. When it's not, forget about it. The braised lamb shank is a must. You have to try it! My husband had the Maine Lobster. It was served with beer-battered Pablano Peppers. What a combination! My husband is from Massachusetts, so he knows a thing or two about fresh lobster. As soon as he took a bite, he gave me a thumbs up, and that's all I needed to know. For dessert, believe it or not, we ordered donuts. I know - it sounds a little different, but Zaidi's donuts were incredible (the Rolls Royce of donuts if you will). Something else that made our evening a little more special was a visit from Mr. Zaidi. He came over, asked us how everything was, how everything tasted, and talked to us like he had known us all his life. It was a great dining experience and we are GOING BACK! We might even go for some martininis and donuts next time. If you're coming from Route 88 and heading down Route 59, be aware that you have to take a left on 83rd street (Oxford Bank is on the S. E. corner) and then a right into the Springbrook Square Shopping Center. Order the donuts! Pros: Great menu variety and exotic selections Cons: Too many great menu choices more

Amazing restaurant...In Naperville? 12/20/2008

My wife made a reservation at Zaidi's for my birthday based on a Naperville free magazine review and the web page. I was skeptical, but up for the adventure. This is Naperville, the home of loud, over priced chain type restaurants (Rosebud, Sullivan's, Hugo's Frog etc). We walked in and I was amazed at how elegant the room was. The table was elegant, the service was friendly and attentive, but not pretentious. Our server knew his wines and the menu and gave reasonable recommendations. Pros: Relatively quiet, outstanding quality, great service Cons: They kept serving taster drinks in plastic cups and servers were polishing glasses too much more

Unique atmosphere and AMAZING food! 12/10/2008

Wow! This restaurant has the atmosphere. When I first walked into Zaidis I was taken away by the unique look. I felt as if I was at a restaurant in downtown Chicago or LA. The staff was friendly and inviting. We were greeted immediately by a server who knew the menu very well. We started with a california roll which was wonderful. I tried two lunch entrees. I had the chicken club and pulled lamb sandwich. They both were out of this world. The flavor, unbelieveable. With those sandwiches comes thin waffle potato chips (my best description), I could not get my fill of those. We are very much looking forward to coming back. On our way out we looked into the bar area, loved the look. They offer specials on Tuesday and Thursday nights. Live entertainment as well. I recommend Zaidi's as a MUST TRY!! more

Fabulous Food, Great Wine List, Awesome Service 12/8/2008

I have been to Zaidi's several times and have loved it every time. My favorite thing to get for lunch is the Sliced Kobe beef sandwich and the lobster bisque. For dinner the sushi is awesome (my favorite is oceans 3). If you're a little more hungry try the Wedge salad, Bone-In Filet, and a side of Lobster Mac and Cheese. It?s to die for! On Tuesdays they also have Champagne and a Sushi Roll for $7 can't beat that! On Thursdays they have $2 sliders and $5 martinis. Tell your friends it's awesome more
