Y go anywhere else for yoga in Nashville 11/4/2010

Great place to practice. I learned more about alignment in one class than 2 yrs at the Y. I think this is because of the class sizes and the teachers experience. As affordable as the Y but doesn't have the amenities. I decided to trade in the teenagers in the dropping weights they couldn't handle and lines for the elyptical for the convenience and expertise the smaller studios offer. Once I tried the intimate settings, I realized what I was missing at the cold, bright Y. more

Nashvilles Best Yoga Neighborhood 8/4/2010

Be conversational: Write as if relaying your experience to a good friend. \r \r Be thorough: Mention your favorite products or services offered by this business, such as menu items, home delivery or spa treatments. \r \r Be local: Identify the neighborhood where the business is located and mention nearby attractions when relevant.I agree with all the previous reviews but if there is one thing that makes Yoga Country unique to me, it is the culture. To me it's is a physical and spiritual neighborhood. Everyone has a common thread, yoga, and they love to pratice. People come from different backgrounds, locations, and points in their lives (yesterday I has a semi famous rocker to my left and a 65 y/o woman) but I come to this sanctuary because when I leave I feel better physically and spiritually. This culture has been developed and maintained by the owner, Amy and I am very proud to tell people that I practice here. Come one, come all and you'll leave a happier, healthier being. more

1 Year and Offering Free Yoga 8/3/2010

I found this studio in the Tennessean's Toast of Music City ""Best Gym"" catagory. When I showed up at the studio this Sunday, they were offering a FULL DAY of free yoga as a thank you and celerating their 1 year anniversary. Highly recommend! more

Great Customer Service is Back in Nashville 6/23/2010

I've been away from yoga/exercise for a while but finally decided to give it a try again after reading and hearing so much about this new little studio in Brentwood. Coming from Nashville, I thought it was going to be farther away but the unassuming office building it's located in is actually on the Davidson County boarder. As soon as I walked in, I fell in love with this place (it's not that little either). \r \r When I compared their pricing to other studios in the area, they were by far the best...especially if you did their unlimited packages. They offer an unlimited 30 days for $39 that is unlike any other deal I've ever seen.\r \r Where they excel is the customer service. Judging by the attention you receive, you'd think they have 10 clients (most classes have at least 15 people). In talking with the owner, it's part of their philosophy and they want to make everyone that walks thru the door have an experience, not just a workout. She (Amy) called to make sure I found the class and teacher that were best for my style. She sends constant emails and is all over Facebook. Her husband even called to see if there was anything that they could do better. Not to upsell me, simply to make sure that I was satisfied. I loved it!\r \r Take it from this Nashvillian, Yoga Country is by far the best experience I've had from a workout and spiritual perspective in decades. I love being part of, as they put it ""their yoga family"" and am proud to call myself a Yoga Country patron.\r Pros: Location, Facility, Price, Level of Knowledge, Pride Cons: Nodda one more

Worth the Trip 5/4/2010

I found this studio when they hosted the Ricky Tran Yoga crawl a few months ago. The workshop was so well attended (over 50 people) that they literally had the mats 1 inch apart and were turning people away. I enjoyed the workshop content and learned a bunch while being surrounded by N'ville's best yogis but I hated being that close to so many sweaty people. I constantly had to move out of the way. I live in Germantown and there are other studios that are much closer so I wasn't inspired to return.\r \r I hadn't been back till this past weekend when they hosted the Sadie Nardini Core workshop. Because of the nasty weather, they only had 20ish people making it much more enjoyable and intimate. I caught up with my yogini friends and found out that one of them had made Yoga Country her go to studio. She made me open my eyes to the surroundings and I realized how beautiful this studio is (without 50 people packed in). They really decorated this place around the ""yoga country"" theme. It's almost like looking at a Where's Waldo book trying to pick up on all the subtle Yoga Country hints. Really cool, hip, creative and relaxing (again without 50 people)!\r \r I also found out that one of my first teachers, Tracy Barbuto, teaches there. It's definately out of the way, but for the right teachers, I'll be back. Like one of the other reviewers mentioned, they run UNBELIEVEABLE specials. I wish the studio down the street from me was so generous with their pricing...I'd have more money for lululemen! \r \r Hey owners - if you're looking to expand, I suggest Germantown! Pros: Workshops and Series Cons: Location more

A Cut Above the Rest 5/2/2010

This is simply a beautiful place to practice. I love the teachers (Jane, Gillian and Amy) as they are all extremely knowedgeable, friendly and welcoming. I also love the 90 degree classes. They don't pump the place full of humidity so it's not the forced sweat you get from ""Hot Yoga"" but it's hot enough to soak everything you're wearing.\r \r The ONLY downside to this studio is that it's tucked away in an office building. It's located on the second floor in the same building as the Mexican restaurant next to the post office. Once you find it, it's very conveniently located. Pros: Studio, teachers, owner Cons: Hard to find more

My place to get away from it all 4/28/2010

Beautiful, friendly, serene, knowledgeable, welcoming, engaging, sweet, relaxing...not enough good things to say. I believe this studio has opened and is flourishing for all the right reasons...they truely believe in the yoga and the benefits it has to offer. Even though there are studios closer, I travel to Brentwood to Yoga Country because it is that much better. \r \r I have children and even though the Y has child care, I chose to come here because it lets me get away from it all. I used to go to the Y and would be pulled out of class because someone pushed my kid, he had a runny nose, etc. I can't got to Yoga Country as often as I'd like, but I take so much more away when I do because I finally get ME TIME!\r \r I've tried most of the teachers and they are all rock stars with years and years of experience. \r Pros: everything Cons: nothing more

Great yoga studio in Brentwood 4/15/2010

I am new to yoga, finally trying it after years of urging from my daughter. I'm so glad I listened to her it definitely puts you in a different place! The instructors at this studio are patient and helpful. They urge you to do only what you are comfortable doing. I have found myself progressing with each class! Wonderful place you need to try it! Pros: Great instructors more

Empty Nesters Sanctuary 4/13/2010

My family has been a member at the YMCA for over 15 years and it's always served our purposes. Now that my kids are out of the house and my husband doesn't use the Y (wish he would do something other than sit on the couch:)), I realized that I was paying $90 a month to take a few yoga classes a month. I heard about Yoga Country from a news clip and gave it a try. The classes and teachers are on a totally different level. I love the 90 degree classes because it's just hot enough to get a good sweat going but not so hot that I can't breathe. I though that I was good at yoga, but when I went to Yoga Country, I realized I had a lot of room for growth. At the same time, I brought a friend from out of town that had NEVER tried yoga and she said she felt 100% comfortable. What I like the best is that they offer ""packages"" of classes. I usually buy the 5 pack of classes for $75 (I think) and can come and go as I please. Every summer we go up north and I don't have to worry about being charged $300 for a membership that I don't use. Pros: Styles and Variety of Class more

Great for Beginners 4/4/2010

The instructors at Yoga Country (Katie in particular) seem to strike that perfect balance between encouraging me to push myself while reminding me to listen to and respect my body's limitations. I find myself both energized and relaxed at the end of class. Love it! more

Great for Marathon Training 3/31/2010

As I've aged, I've realized two things, I can't eat whatever I want and I need to change up my workout regimen more often. I went to Yoga Country as a way to add some variance to my Music City Marathon training on my off days. The Deep and Stretchy class has helped me improve my flexibility imensely. I think the down dog is even helping my shin splints. Marathons are often about just getting to the start line and Yoga Country is helping me get there...only 24 days left! I also like that I don't have to commit to a year or monthly membership...they have 5, 10 and 20 class packages that give you discounts as you buy more. \r Pros: Location, Studio Cons: Hard to find first time more

A Place Just for Yourself 3/27/2010

I have practiced yoga at virtually every studio and Y in Middle TN and this one is my fav. All are unique in their own way. What I love about Yoga Country is the feeling of community and their desire to make sure that you are satisfied. I started yoga because of personal troubles and needed an outlet. The owner Amy has a Yoga Ambassador program and she helped me find a class that would fit my goals at the time. Those trouble are long gone but she continues to keep in contact and help me set new intentions so I can continue to grow. She's a very special and caring person and that's what makes this studio my yoga home. Pros: Only Yoga more

LIFE CHANGING! 3/24/2010

Low Impact... but LOTS of fun!! 11/19/2009

I travel alot for work and love to find new places to workout wherever I go. A friend in Nashville suggested that I go to Yoga Country and check it out. I am so glad I did!! There are a ton of choices in classes and they make you feel totally welcome when you are in their studio. Great workout.... great people.... I highly recommend. more

Great low impact workout!! 11/18/2009

I've been having knee trouble for the last few years and it has really limited my exercise options. A friend suggested that I try yoga at Yoga Country. I thought there was no way I would be able to find a low-impact activity that also toned and strengthened, but I'm a believer!! Yoga Groove is an awesome class and kept me completely engaged the whole hour. I was nervous to be a beginner in a class with experienced people, but the instructor put me at ease and guided me through with no problems. My husband has even commented on how good my arms are looking! I've finally found something to keep me in shape without making me limp through my day. Pros: Great for newbies and pros more

Cardio, Flexibility, Strength, Balance and Inner Peace! 11/17/2009

I've practiced yoga at the Y for 2 years to improve my flexibility. As a marathon runner I've found that Yoga has helped me prevent and even treat basic injuries. So when I entered a raffle at the Susan Komen Race for the Cure and won a week of free yoga, I figured I'd give this new studio a shot. Within 15 minutes of my first class, I realized this isn't your average yoga. I run marathons and was winded. The next day, I was sore. Ironically, I was in a class with 2 people completely new to yoga and they were able to complete the class. The instructor (Tracy) was able to coach varying levels of experience at the same time...it really was impressive. Since my first class, I've made an effort to try different instructors/classes (Kate, Gillian, Danny, Liz, Brett so far) and they all were amazing in their own way. I just ran my 18th marathon and clocked my best time ever (4:05). I credit the improvement (-15min) to the work I've done at Yoga Country. If there is any negative to this studio, it is difficult to find the first time. Follow the instructions on the website...my GPS brought me the wrong way. The owner, Amy, said they are going to be putting some signage out front after Thanksgiving. Pros: teachers, class schedule, studio Cons: difficult to find studio the first time more
