Vomitous Ball Park 6/7/2006

The crumbling mess that is known as Wrigley Field sits like some kind of gigantic dog turd in the middle of Wrigleyville spewing its rancid stink through the stench of stale vomit from the bars located around the park. The fact that this putrid place is the location for some of the worst baseball in the city let alone the major leagues just makes the entire eye-sore more painful to deal with. True and great baseball is played across town in the modern, roomy, well-built mecca of world championship baseball known as U.S. Cellular Field. The White Sox play ball the way it is supposed to be played, namely, they win and they win championships. They have a stadium with great food and plenty of parking. They have a park laid out so you can visit the restroom or go for concessions and still see the game. They have a park where you don't have to pee in a trough. Avoid Wrigley Field and the Flubs like a plague. Leave the Wrigley Field disaster for those who prefer to back a loser and see baseball in the world's largest open-air bar. more

Love - Hate Relationship 5/31/2006

So I have a love-hate relationship with this place. Love: During the summer, this is an awesome place to come and enjoy a cubs game. I'm no avid baseball fan, but the atmosphere here is great and very lively. Plus, after the games, the surrounding area gets really lively and it is all a good time. Hate: When I, myself, am not attending a game, I hate having to weave through traffic here!! I live close enough to Wrigley that the traffic really impacts me. UGHHHH. more

Go Cubbies 5/27/2006

This happens to be the best place in the city of Chicago. Yes, I am a north sider. For us real Cub fans there will always be next year, and we have no problems with that as long as the field stays the way that it is with the ivy and old style beer. This is the perfect hang out place for any sunny work day when you are playing sick. more

Bar Capacity: 41,118 5/16/2006

For the record, I enjoy baseball. Also for the record, I am not a Cubs fan and therefore am not hindered by nostalgia. Wrigley Field is definitely a once in a lifetime experience--and an experience that should only need to happen once in a lifetime. Sitting in the stands, you can easily see everyone on the field and you almost feel as though you could reach out and touch the grass. That is, if the 36 year-old frat-boy type in front of you would stop swaying from side-to-side with his Jack Daniel's (concealed in a flask brought out of his pants every 5 minutes) and sit down to actually watch the game. In one game, I witnessed at least 10 Cubs fans (recognizable by their oversize jerseys and the strands of red/blue beads) being escorted out of the stadium by security for drunkenness. And I was in the lower section--who knows what was going on above me. Wrigley Field does have spunk and style--but it needs a major renovation. Right now, it is only holding the Cubs back from being a real baseball team, and not just background noise for this over sized bar. Key notes: Easy to get to by CTA (Red Line or buses). I recommend not driving as parking can be expensive and traffic after a game is homicidal. There are many great restaurants in this area, so while a hot dog always tastes better at a baseball game, check out some local places before/after for a more complete meal. My favorites: Uncommon Ground and Heaven on 7th. more

Five stars for Wrigley, one for the annoying yuppies 5/10/2006

Wrigley Field in and of itself is a magnificent facility in most every way. It's world famous and first class all around. Speaking of class, there are a couple problems that are not necessarily the fault of Wrigley. A lot has changed. Too much. Some of the fans have very little class (drunkin' kids out of control, yuppies shouting on cell phones and a lot of people that are there for every reason but baseball). It's very sad. Yes, there are still some great folks in the stadium that do seem to care, but iIf you really love baseball and respect the game, you may want to go to another facility to really hear, watch and enjoy baseball. But if you want to just have a good time and can get past the flaws of some of the "fans" then it's worth it. If you are annoyed by screaming yups and frat boys, go to the upper deck and you will have a much better time, still have a good view of the park, and you'll sit with more of the "real" folks. more

Cubs at Home 5/3/2006

I don't care if you are a resident of Chicago or a tourist, a man or a woman, an adult or a child, this is a place you just cannot miss! A cub's game at Wrigley is one of the best experiences to take part with in the city. The Cubs are not my favorite baseball team, but a game at their home stadium is one of my favorite things to do. The fans here are so much fun and the beer and food here are great too. I would go here any day, rain or shine because it is a blast to be here. more

Great Stadium 4/22/2006

I used to never understand why people would be so interested to see the Cubs play. Maybe because I'm not really a big baseball fan. Recently, I went here with a friend and I realized why this place is so popular. This place is so super lively. Its not so much about the baseball game as it is about the social aspect of it. There's so many people there and there's lots to eat. There are even so many cool clubs, bars, and restaurants around the stadium that it is lots of fun before and after the game. This is defintely a great place for a family outing, a date, or a day with friends. more

A Must See In Chicago 4/13/2006

They don't make ballparks like this anymore. Wrigley Field has a special charm about it. Whenever we can, we try to get tickets to see the Cubs play and enjoy the atmosphere at this ballpark. We've even taken our son and although he was young then, he had fun. Now that he's older, he can't wait to catch a game. more

Good Old Wrigely 3/19/2006

I love this ballpark and grew up watching the Cubs and still do. I enjoy going to games in this historic ballpark. What ticks me off is when yuppies are on their cell phone at the game or just blabbing away not even watching. It's not the fault of the "friendly convines" this is the fault of fair-weather fans who jumped on the band wagon with Sosa a few years ago. Sosa is a great player but greedy and needs an attitude adjustment. Shut up, turn off your phones or get out. more

1...2...3 Beers Your Drunk 3/9/2006

Wrigley Field is the ultimate in north side mentality! This is the type of place where it doesn't matter if you like baseball or not. You go to Wrigley for the feel. People buy their tickets well in advance not caring if the team is going to be doing well, but to hang out with their friends and have a good time. Every south sider who I talk to about the north side hates the fact that we don't care about how the team is doing, but that is just us. Regardless of where you live, you should come on up here and join the team. Everybody is welcome! more

Go Cubs! 3/9/2006

I am a huge fan of the Cubs. Yea, they haven't won a title for a long time, but don't loose heart, this team is definitely on its way! I always try to make it out to as many ball games as I can during the season and I always love it. Win or loose, this team is always fun to watch and I love to root them on. There is also lots more to enjoy at this great stadium, like good food and a fun crowd. more

Place For All 3/2/2006

My little son is a huge fan of baseball, so I try to bring him out here at least once during the regular season. He thoroughly enjoys the experience, even though he is so young. The great thing is, so do I. The crowd here is so much fun. This place is filled with die hard fans and people just out to have a good time. The crowd is pleasant and there's great food here too. So, whether or not you are a big fan of baseball, this is a cool place to just come and hang out during the summer. Its an exciting place and you'll be sure to have fun. more

Lots of Fun 2/19/2006

Wrigley Field is one place everybody who is in Chicago or is visiting Chicago must visit. It is so much fun, no matter if you are a Cubs fan or not. It is a great atmosphere, with lots of people out to have a good time and enjoy a good show and some delicious food. The atmosphere is so lively with excited people. Its a great place to be. After the game is over, there is also tons to do in the vicinity, including restaurants, bars, and clubs. Its also a great place to take the entire family too. Tickets can be affordable if you buy them far enough in advance I believe. more

Great old ball park 1/13/2006

"Do they still sing the blues in Chicago?" is the lyric from Steve Goodman's great song about his years as a Cub fan. Cub fan or not, this place is worth a visit if you like baseball. It is a great ballpark with ivy covered walls and rabid fans who fill the place, whether the Cubs win or lose. After much controversy, lights were added a few years ago so now you can see night games too. But there is still a traditional feel to the space, and it is surprisingly intimate for you and 40,000 or so of your closest friends. more

Perfect Baseball 9/29/2005

This is the best place in the world to watch a baseball game. I'm slightly biased towards the history of the place, but still. It's just such a beautiful venue. Now the seats are cushy and the sun is hot at times, but as my husband says, "IT'S WRIGLEY!" Drive in early (good luck with parking, you may want to do a shuttle) and get a hot dog and enjoy the area. more

Great for the tourist, but not for the fans 8/19/2005

Wrigley Field has been around since 1914, and has hosted both the Cubs and the Bears. While it looks great on TV, the experience now in the 21st is not as great. The bathroom facilities are very poor, as expected for something that is over 90 years old. The food isn't that great, but if you want a beer, there's no shortage of it. Most of the seats have a terrible view due to the structure of the stadium. For a Cub fan living in the Chicago area, it is an absolute pain trying to get tickets to a Cubs game unless you want to deal with scalpers, even when the Cubs aren't doing too well. The area around Wrigley Field is loaded with places to go after a game, which is a plus. If you've never been there before, go experience a part of baseball history. more

some baseball 8/19/2005

I am not a fan of baseball at all. In fact, I find baseball to be a very boring sport. But I love to go to Wrigley field. The experience is always so great. Its not just about the game. They have a really friendly crowd, who is revved up for the game even if the Cubs are losing. And the food is great too! The experiece is a lot of fun, and you should try to experience it at least once even if you are not a fan. And there's also so much to do before and after the game! more

Wrigley Field - the best ballpark in the world 8/19/2005

Wow, this is harder to write than I thought, as what can I say in a few short sentences about the best ballpark in the world which happens to be located in my hometown, and we are still lucky enough to live in this area so that we can still visit it every year. We have been Cub fans since we were kids, and it's only now that we're older that we can truly appreciate what a great ballpark this really is. Which is one reason why we get to the ballpark almost two hours before the game starts - not only to watch practice, but also to be able to enjoy the park before the crowds roll in. And yes, it's more expensive than it used to be, and yes parking is impossible, and yes, once again it doesn't look good for the Cubs this year. But yes, we'll wait til next year....and we'll be back once again.....:=). more

Best Sports Venue! 8/19/2005

This is a super fun place to watch baseball games! It seats soo many people in both the reserved section and the bleachers. Watching a game in the bleachers on a nice day is a must for anyone who lives in Chicago! Getting tickets is the only pain.. you have to get online and get tickets the hour they come out though because they sell out in hours and then you'll end up paying double to see a game! more
