Unprofessional Receptionist 12/10/2009

I can't believe how rude this receptionist was to me on the phone yesterday. I work at a doggie daycare and boarding facility, and I was calling to have some vaccination records faxed over. The fax didn't go thru so I called back and I thought I was talking to the same [very nice lady] so I said ""Hi its me again, the fax did't go thru again so I was wondering if you could just verify over the phone?"" The lady cut me off and was very rude saying ""I didn't talk to you"". So after she told me part of what I needed, I asked her ""And what about...?"" and she cut me off again and said ""No thats all we gave her! Click......!"" and she hung up on me. Years of service.... 12/4/2009

Me and my family have been going to Dr. Woods for approximately 30+ years and will not go to any other veterinary hospital! Dr. Woods and his staff are very considerate, makes you feel comfortable in any situation when it comes to your loved one's health status, and the full attention you need with him is worth the gas to drive to the location! Pros: Affordable, respectful, considerate of clients and owners! Cons: Can't think of any! more

LOVE THIS VET 11/9/2009

I've been going to this vet for almost 7 years now. I love both Dr. Woods Sr. & Jr. They are very knowledgeable and gentle with my animals. I have 4 dogs and 2 cats and have used these Dr's extensively and highly recommend them. Only one of my dogs doesn't like going to the vet - but thats only because she hates her nails being trimmed. The only problem I have is with one of the ladies at the front desk. She's kind of short with people and that's a turn off. Pros: Kind, Knowledgeable Cons: Front desk person more

AWESOME VET & STAFF 8/2/2009

I have been taking my 3 dogs there since they were puppies - a total of 9 years now. I used to live right around the corner from the vet so it was very convenient at first. I moved to Hutto about 2 years ago and tried the local vet there and was soooo disappointed that I went right back to Dr. Woods. Even though his office is a little out of my way, the service and attention my dogs get there is well worth the trip! My oldest dog is an all white boxer and has issues with getting cyst and skin allergies all the time. I took him to have all his cyst removed (about 5) and the cost was half of what I expect to pay! I was very happy with the service and the results! I highly recommend Balcones to anyone who wants their pets to have the best vet care possible!! Heartbroken 7/23/2009

My little doggie/best friend anyone could ever have(for 9 years) died there a few days ago. Never ever go there! They didn't give him the attention he needed when I took him there a month ago. I will never be the same. I have never been so broken. I trusted them and thought they knew what they were doing. Their lack of compassion crushed me. I literally have a physical heart ache losing my little companion. more

Worth the Drive 7/16/2009

My family has been using this clinic for all of our pets for decades and we love them. A few years back I had a cat who suddenly began wheezing very early in the morning. I called the clinic and a vet tech answered the phone. Although the clinic wasn't open yet, they allowed me to bring the little guy in early to be seen. Unfortunately, he died an hour later from choking (before the vet could stop it), but I was grateful for the clinic accomodating my emergency. Also, the vet was extremely kind on the phone when he told me about the death and allowed us to bury the cat on our own. Not only that, but I wasn't charged at all for the visit, which I greatly appreciated. Although my cat died, I was happy that I got such great treatment at the clinic. Excellent All Around Vet 11/12/2008

We lost our first dog at age 11 after taking him to a generic 24 hr emergency clinic and being told it would be incredibly expensive to remove what was presumed to be a ruptured spleen. We agonized over not really knowing what it was that caught him so quickly. more

WHY pay Downtown AUSTIN VETS OUTRAGEOUS RATES! 11/7/2008

Super vet. Removed 3 tumors from my dog. Very personable. I had a terrible experience at a central Austin vet that and I was so refreshed to deal with a down to earth friendly Doctor. This is very easy to get to off of 183. Pros: Friendly, fast, surgery very smooth and well done no hidden charges. Cons: Nothing to complain about. more

REALLY THE BEST 10/23/2008

I LOVE this vet and the staff. I drive about 40 mins to get to them but I wouldn't go anywhere else. Anybody that says a bad thing about the awesome people that work at Balcones Animal Hospital or the service was having a bad day. They are wonderful. I can not even tell you what they have done for my dog. They are so reasonable and caring. I work in the animal field and I can tell they truly care for animals. Mark my words I will never go anywhere else until they both retire ;o). Pros: caring/ compasionate/ smart/ cheap more

Great Vet! 9/19/2008

After relocating from NY we needed to find a dr for our cats. We took one recently to a Cat Hosital here in Austin, paid top dollar for an office visit and all she did was look at our cats teeth. No physical exam at all. Not satisfied at all with the ""exam"" ~ Our cat is 13 years old. We checked out the reviews and decided to take her to Dr. Wood. Dr. Wood did a complete exam on her and treated her great. We highly recommend their office for your pets care. Pros: very thorough and understands what your pet means to you more

UPSET TO BE LEAVING SUCH AN AWESOME VET 7/14/2008

I first met Dr Woods 6 years ago when my little dog fell ill suddenly needing transfusions to attempt to fight a immune disorder she contracted suddenly after me being talked into a 6 month heartworm shot from our previous vet WellsBranch Pet and Bird Vet, I am pretty sure she was overdosed and ultimatly ended her life. more

I have been taking my dogs to Dr woods for over 5 yrs now. The staff is very friendly and have helped me with any questions i have had. My husband is very particular about his dogs ear cropping and every time Dr woods has done an incredible job. We recommend him to everyone. Great vet and very affordable!!!! Great Vet, Affordable Care 5/31/2008

I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Wood and his staff. We have been using them for 4 years and are always so happy about their responsiveness, care and affordable fees. A few months ago, our pug was run over on 620 and his jaw was broken in several places and he had additional injuries. Dr. Wood rebuilt his jaw, stitched him up and basically put him back together-- he saved our dog! I was using citysearch to look him up because my older dog needs a geriatric visit and thought they deserved yet another good review! Lots of people put off vet care because it can be so expensive-- Dr. Wood and his team make it possible to give your pets the care they deserve! more

Excellent vetrinary/customer service care 5/22/2008

I couldn't have been more pleased I commute into Austin everyday from Lexington, they wil have someone there to take your precious bundle of joy early (7am) and you can pick up afternoon.... they take the time to call & explain the situation to you in a kind/caring / matter of fact approach (similar to here is the problem, & here's solution A, B or C).... they make both you & your pet feel welcomed, safe and the exude confidence/kindness. Best vet in town!!! 11/30/2007

I took my lab, Sprocket to Dr. Woods after a disaster of an experience at Hill Country Vet in Cedar Park. Dr. Woods was recommended to me by SO many people, I just had to go. As busy as he is, the service couldn't be better. He always calls me personally and explains everything in a perfect manner. He has the most fair prices in town, and often offers home remedies when money is tight. What a good, old fashioned guy, and great business. I'll never take my pets anywhere else! Dr Woods is the Best! 11/14/2007

My kitty had deveoped a pretty scarry looking eye infection and since I had only used Austin Animal Trustees for shots and spaying I did not have a vet. I called around near my home and found that the vets were either booked up or a bit snooty to me. I refuse to pay people to be rude to me so I kept dialing the phone until I found Dr Wood's clinic. The woman who answered the phone was friendly and was able to schedule an appointment for Sophie right away. Dr Woods checked out her eye and provided the eye drops with very clear instuctions on how and when to use them. I felt so good about the place that I scheduled my male kitty an appointment for his annual check up the following weekend. It was a good experience as well. more
