Many Redeeming Qualities 8/25/2005

The winde cellar is a fine restaurant. I recently took my father there for his birthday. We enjoyed the ambiance of their outdoor patio, their fine wine list, and the excellent food. My monkfish wash prepared perfectly, and he really enjoyed his spareribs. Quite nice! more

Special Night 3/13/2005

My wife and I dined at the Wine Cellar this weekend. We ate inside for the first time and enjoyed it as well as the numerous times we've dined al fresco. The menu is tremendous and the service is top notch. Super spot for us for special occasions. Expensive, but worth it. more

Upscale but not Pretentious 2/8/2005

I love taking people here because the staff really makes you feel special. They seem to really enjoy their job. The place is upscale but by no means pretentious. The food is consistently great as well. Parking can be a bit difficult during the weekends, but other than that, I can't complain. Pros: staff, food Cons: parking more

O-V-E-R-R-A-T-E-D 2/3/2005

This restaurant isn't completely bad, but I can't believe all the rave reviews it gets. Food was average at best, but the prices are comparable to that of a more upscale restaurant. Yes, the restaurant does look like a wine cellar. But the decor is completely unrefined. I sat on a banquette that reminded me of the booths at Denny's- pleather red seats! This place is NOT romantic at all. Just check out their web site's photos. more

Great Restaurant! 1/28/2005

Make a reservation because this place is busy on the weekends. The little booths in the back are really cool. I love the pork chop and the harvest salad:-) The wine list has some good selections... Not a good place for kids though. Maybe if you come early or your kids are really quiet. Kinda romantic. Pros: SERVICE, FOOD more

Loved it! 1/27/2005

This place is great! From the decor, to the service, to the food! We love the patio in the summertime too. My favorite is one of the steaks followed by the Chocolate Fondue....yummy! We dine here at least once a week. Highly recommend it!! Pros: food, friendly service, ambiance more

Expected more 3/31/2004

The restaurant is beautiful. The food was delicious. The service was weak at best. Wait, let me rephrase - the guy busing was awesome, the server was inattentive. I called for reservations and was told there was an opening on Saturday at 4:45pm. I'm thinking it's going to be busy if that's the only time available. We went on a Saturday and were there from 4:45 to almost 6:00 pm and aside from one other couple, we were the only diners in the restaurant. Even so, the server was too busy folding napkins and talking at the bar to refill drinks or ask us how things went. It took quite a while for him to bring us a check so we could pay and leave. If it weren't for the service, it was a good experience. Pros: Decor/Ambiance, Food more

Wow! 1/13/2004

I had the pleasure of dining at this establishment last week with my husband. I was so impressed! Our friends had been raving about it for some time and I can't believe we didn't go sooner! The decor is reminiscent of our trip to Europe with this amazing glass and iron artwork. The ambience is so romantic too. We were seated in a cozy booth where we had Swiss cheese fondue to start. I had the filet which was to die for and my husband had the lobster tail special. We had a nice bottle of Pinot and chocolate fondue for dessert! Our server really took care of us and had nice recommendations. We highly recommend this place! Pros: Food, Service, Atmosphere more

AnaW25 12/15/2003

I was very disappointed in the quality of this restaurant. I made a reservation after seeing it recommended here on city search. The ambiance was not romantic at all, unless you enjoy small, crowded restaurants with low ceilings, very average food and a noise level so loud that you have to yell across the table to talk to your date! While this was far from my worst dining experience I certainly would not recommend this as the area's most romantic dining. I would say the food was unremarkable, wine selection passable and the service pretty much what you would expect from an establishment of this quality. Cons: noisy, crowded, very small more

Great Bartender 11/9/2003

Great Bartender - he is there most of the time - well I always see him there - My girlfriend wanted to try something new and from her description the bartender came up with the perfect wine for her. Interesting and informative. Pros: Cool atmosphere, clean, nice more

Better restaurants for the price 8/16/2003

For a restaurant called ""Wine Cellar,"" you'd figure when they advertise a 2000 vintage wine on their wine list, you would get a 2000 vintage -- not 2001, as we got when it arrived. Especially alarming was that the region the wine was from had a great 2000 vintage but a poor 2001 vintage. When asked about the wine, the waiter merely replied ""We sell a lot of wine."" Food was ok but not exceptional, service merely average, and it was only slightly romantic. In general, there are far better restaurants for the price. Pros: Wine list, Dessert menu, Patio Cons: Expensive, Poor value, Pricey more

Mr. 8/15/2003

I went to Wine Cellar because of the #1 Citysearch rating and thought it should be well worth the long drive for a try. Though the restaurant was above average, I was quite disappointed, because I was expecting something much better than the average to earn such a high rating. Its main dining area is in the basement. The deco and atmosphere was not so impressive. The taste and presentation of the food was not that great, either, in consideration of its above average price, although the service was ok. In any case, comparing with all other fine dining places that I have been to, I was totally not convinced that Wine Cellar should deserve the high rating that I saw at all. Pros: service Cons: deco & atmosphere, taste & presentatio, price & location more

great for dinner...and lunch 5/21/2003

I had a great evening at the Wine Cellar with my wife a few weeks back. We found both wonderful food and service there. I had a perfectly prepared Filet with Warm Spinach - while my wife loved her Tortellini & Cranberry Chicken entree. Since then, I have gone back for lunch a few times and each time found their soups and salads amongst the best in the area. Pros: ambience, full bar, service more

Not a good value. 5/12/2003

Went for lunch. Food is so-so. Coffee is bad. Six people spend $170. I think it is quite expensive with not much value. Pros: play good music CD Cons: food is expensive, chairs not so good, coffee is bad more

Nice ambience, good food 2/14/2003

We visited wine cellar for our anniversary. The restaurant had good ambience, but i dont know if it was the most romantic looking restaurant. The food although quite good and creative in some ways was a little overpriced for the quality. We had asked for Foccacia + Fondue, in which the cheese fondue dip was cold. The warm goat cheese salad was simply delicious and the eggplant parmesan was good, but could have been better. Pros: Service, Ambience, Good Food Cons: A little pricey. more

wine celler 2/13/2003

atmosphere of a sports bar, food so-so, is this what west coast romance is? Down size table seats Pros: service, drinks Cons: romance, food more

Lovely atmosphere with fabulous food 12/8/2002

This is one of my new favorite restaurants! The first impression when we walked in the door from the chill of the night was the inviting warmth and coziness. We were late for our reservation but the hostesses were so kind and accommodating. We started with the fondue appetizer, which is so yummy and wonderful and fun to share with a group. The food was just perfect and fabulous (caeser with lots of shrimp, ny steak, lobster ravioli). We will definitely be going back again and again. Pros: Warm atmosphere, Great food Cons: Parking more

This place rocks! 9/23/2002

I would definitey give the food a 10. It's really, really, really good and that's hard to come by lately. The patio is one of the best dining experiences around. The service can be great or not so great though. Don't get me wrong, I have been there five or six times and I have had wonderful service thanks to Arby, Alicia and Shawn, but I have also witnessed small arguments among other staff. Beyond that, the restaurant is a nice place to unwind and enjoy great food and wine. Pros: Food, Patio more

magnifico 9/18/2002

Great place to show off Los Gatos! From the food, to the decor, to the staff our dining experience was magnifico! The menu is very european with a twist of napa valley cuisine, I love it! Pros: ambiance, excellent menu, great staff Cons: not for kids, limited parking more

Feels like home 9/13/2002
