Wilson's on Washington

I recently lost my hair stylist and was on the search for someone new. I was referred to Wilson's on Washington and could not be happier with my experience this past weekend. Entering the salon, the enviornment is very modern and fun. The staff is friendly and welcoming. I felt like I had been coming for years! The stylist, Kortney that cut my hair did a fantastic job and was able to reccomend the moroccanoil that I am in love with! The location was easy to find and convenient. My cut is wonderful and exactly what I wanted. I would highly reccomend trying the salon. As long as I'm here in Greenville, I will be a customer for life! more

I recently moved to Greenville and was trying to find a new salon. Based on the mostly positive reviews from this site, I decided to give Wilson's a try. When I called to schedule an appointment, they were friendly and accommodating, able to set an appointment for me fairly soon. The salon itself is nice, spacious and bright, but the staff were less personable face-to-face than over the telephone. My stylist let me know that I was her last appointment of the day, and it was obvious by the way she rushed through my haircut that she was ready to get out the door. The haircut seemed okay when I left, but after I washed and dried my hair at home, I found several scraggly ends that the stylist was in too much of a hurry to catch and that I had to end up trimming myself. It wasn't the worst experience I've had at a salon, but I still doubt I will schedule another appointment there. more

I had been planning my dream wedding since Christmas 2009 and we decided on the Cliffs in Landrum, SC as the setting. I started working with your salon in November 2010 and that was the first time I met with Anne Walters. I'm sure that I don't have to tell you what a genuinely sweet person she is, but she was better than we could have hoped. She worked through my changes with two different trials, and she even volunteered to step down and have someone else do my makeup because she felt that the other stylists could do it better. Who does that? Anne did an amazing job on my hair. It was exactly what I imagined. She scheduled Kortney to do my makeup, and she did a flawless job. I was so pleased with the actual results. My bridal party also had their hair and makeup done and they could not have been happier.>> In addition to her ability as a stylist, Anne helped organize the entire group and she was in constant contact with me throughout the entire process. I appreciated that support more than you can ever know. I wanted to make sure you knew how your girls made our special day absolutely perfect.> more

I cannot figure this out why when someone leaves (WOW) they dont want to tell where that person has gone to work , and if they do they stand a chance of getting fired. If wilson on washingston is so great they would have no trouble telling where people go to work... so ill tell any one thats wants to know where TODD went.. He with bryan amd megans. Larry went also.. so a lot of great people are gone. And Bryan and Megans salon is so great You know whats so nice about MOD is when you walk in to MOD the staff is dressed great. your not scared for small childern to come with you because the girls are dressed like strippers..I have said all i need to say.Everybody come on to (MOD) you will love it,,,,,, I took my daughter to (WOW) and the front desk put her with a young kid i think his name was Jake when we left there her hair was so uneven she cryed all the wy home.So i did the next best thing took her to see Todd. Thank goodness for the internet thats how i found the MOD and Todd , Take my adice and go to MOD if Todd cant help you Bryan can !!!!!!!!!!!!! I actually consulted this website for a hairstylist. I called in asked for Larry, however Larry isn't working there anymore. So I opted for Jake. Jake was amazing. I came in after I had cut my bangs--they were ok, but need a little fixing up. He fixed my bangs, gave me a trim, and dyed my hair. My hair looks awesome! He is young but he knows what he's doing (he's the owners son). I would definitely recommend him to anyone who is hesitant about trying new stylists. He follows orders very well. more

I'm not sure what came over me when I called Wilson's on Washington out of the blue to schedule a last minute haircut. All of the sudden, I couldn't stand my long hair anymore and felt the need for a big change. I found the cutest picture of a pixie cut (with long bangs) I could find and emailed it to my phone so I could show my stylist. I've been to this salon before and had a great experience, so I was open to taking the first available stylist. Fortunately, I got Jake as my stylist. He's friendly and very professional. This is BY FAR, my favorite haircut EVER! I literally blow dry my hair for about 4 minutes and then flat iron the front and it looks exactly like the picture I took to show him. He listened to everything I said and really took his time while cutting my hair. I'll definitely be a return customer! more

I was introduced to Wilson's after reading all of the reviews a little more than a year ago, and I definitely was very pleased with my original stylist (although I was used to Great Clips quality). Eventually, I moved on to Todd since my wife would only let him touch her hair, and the results have been ridiculously amazing. Simply put, the man knows how to cut, color, and style hair for both men and women ... for the same price as the far less-experienced people there, if not less. Now, for the bad news (at least for Wilson): Todd's moved. He's at Mod Studio (of which another reviewer indicated a great stylist, Larry, also moved to). Which leads this review to its main point....the stylists who made Wilson's great a year ago are no longer at Wilson's. In fact, most went to Mod Studio, including Todd, Larry, Meghan, and Bryan. However, the intention of this review is not to advertise Mod Studio, but to instead review Wilson's on Washington, itself. As it stands now, it has become a mediocre salon. Wilson, himself, is good, but he is VERY expensive. The only other person I'd recommend there is Chris, who's amazing with men's haircuts and the sweetest lady ever, but I can't vouch for her other qualities. The bottom line is that Wilson's is not near as great as it used to be. If you call them, make sure you reserve someone you know is adept, because the receptionists are forced to schedule newcomers who don't request a stylist to the newer, inexperienced stylists (of which are actually quite terrible). Also, and on a side note, I found out how nasty Wilson, himself, is when I discovered that he made everyone tell previous Todd-groupies that he moved to North Carolina rather than doing the moral act and actually referring them to Todd at Mod Studio. Do yourself a favor and find a stylist you like through all these reviews (I recommend Todd Burns, who's at Mod Studio) and stick with him or her. Don’t restrict yourself to a salon, because as Wilson’s has indicated, the good stylists will move when they’ve become too big of fish. more

I just moved to greenville a few weeks ago, and I needed to find a new salon to go to. I went to wilsons on washington and saw Jake. It was the best cut and color I have ever had!! I will defiantly be coming back! I felt like he really listned to what I wanted and did exactly what I wanted. more

Larry Brooks has moved from Wilson's on Washington to Mod Studio on the corner of Stone and Bennett. He has been doing my hair since he moved to S.C. over a year ago and he is the BEST colorist in town. My hair is so healthy and vibrant looking. He has over 25 years of experience and I'm so glad I found him!! He corrected my color and turned it around from looking brassy to now it is so natural and radiant looking. So check out the new salon it is so amazing and it has a much more relaxed atmosphere. You'll be glad you followed him there. It's quite beautiful!!! more

When I saw Larry the first time this past Oct. my hair was flat and drab....terrible. Today my hair is healthy, full of volume and the most amazing blonde ever. I completely trust him with my hair and will always listen to his suggestions. For instance, he suggested a body wave. I had visions of a bad 80's perm instead my hair now "floats" and has great movement. Trust Larry! Update: 8-10 Larry (the hair guru) has moved! Can't wait to see the new digs at Mod Studio. I am trying to grow my hair out and really need help ~ Jason is great. He works with your hair as it grows, giving you the best cut available for your hair type etc. He is the man you need to see when you need a cut. Awesome job ~ highly recommend him! Pros: super talented Cons: NONE more

Just had my hair cut last night by Jason Herndon. He is a true professional and a genius with shears. Jason takes the time to actually listen to what you want to have done. He will assess your hair to ensure that the style will work and make suggestions. Great personality to go along with his high level of skill with hair. Olivia listens and communicates effectively so that she can plan a cut and color that you will be happy with. I found her hair cutting and coloring skills to be exceptional!! I haven't found anyone this skilled since I left New York. Pros: Olivia is a hair artist! more

I had become almost phobic about even having my hair touched by anyone. After several bad experiences with color and cuts at many other salons I resorted to just doing my own hair, highlights even cutting sometimes because if anyone is gonna screw my hair up its gonna be me I'm deffinately not paying to have it screwed.I finally decided to google top hair colorist in Greenville and that is were I found Larry and after reading review after review of everyone raving about him I decided to call and make an appt.I went today I went from nappy blond highlights that had so many diff colors going on to a gorgeous rich chocolate brown with red and lighter brown tones all throughout it is awesome.I want to say anyone looking for a great stylist Larry is who you want to call. I am so happy and I never walk away loving my hair so that really is saying something.Also for those of you reading these reviews do not let this stuff about the girls working there dressing like strippers dicourage you from going that is the furthest thing from the truth.I don't know what planet those people were from but I did not see one person with anything that was inappropriate and if you won't go back in there then you can't go anywhere its just ridiculious really! I have to agure with the person that talked about how the salon dressed!!!!!!!!!!They need to put some clothes on, Please cover up... I know that fashion is in ,but please cover up,I dont want my DAUGHTERS to think they can go out look like H--kers, SEVERAL OF THE GIRLS JEANS ARE SO TIGHT, HOW DO THE STAND IT??,, Have any one ever heard of (CAMELL TOES) well that is what the girls look like so please lossin up the jeans!!!!!!. I know if your over weight please cover it up. NOT SHOW YOUR( TIRE TUBE )IN THE MIDDLE!!!!!!!That does not look good,i guess that was my frist time and the last time for me and my daughters, The person i went to did not lession to what i wanted and did what he wanted so the way i look at it its my money my hair, i should be able to get what i wanted!!!!!!!!!!!! Larry is FANTASTIC and rescued me from a color disaster! I got highlights from another stylist at a different, very well-known salon, and was shocked that the "caramel" highlights she put in came out brassy blond on my dark brown hair. After trying to fix it myself w/drug store color, I was in even worse shape (!) and went to see Larry based on all the positive reviews. Larry took the time to really look at my hair, showed me color samples, even took me outside mid-way through to see how the results were looking in sunlight. Needless to say, I now love my color!! He even fixed up my cut. His prices were extremely reasonable, too. Thanks Larry!! I'm going to recommend him to everyone I know! more

Last Friday I went to Larry to get hilites and lolites. I am very particular about my hair because, like everyone else I have had horrible experiences. I wanted to put 3 or 4 different colors in my hair, (red, light brown, blondes). I have gone to many different colorists trying to achieve this color, but all except Larry have been unsuccessful. He took the time to understand what I wanted and even showed me examples of colors and gave suggestions. He was running a few minutes behind but never rushed with my hair to try and catch up. He was completely focused on what he was doing. I went back to Larry today for a Keratin treatment. I HIGHLY recommend him, especially for color and Keratin. Also, he has reasonable prices! Larry takes the time to find out about your needs and really looks at the way your hair lays to get a better feel for what color and cut you need. My hair has never looked this good!
