Left Me Out in the Cold 2/4/2011

Recently called them when my heater - an older unit - went out on the coldest day of the year. Was told it was ""rusted through"" and the only thing they could do was put in a new heater, at around $5,000. Asked them if there was ANYTHING they could temporarily do for just today - it was freezing! - and we had had the same problem fixed just a month before. The technician smiled and said no, and left after me paying the $80 service call. I immediately called another company, who sent a tech out and replaced the ignition switch and circuit board and had me up and running in an hour. Needless to say, when I replace this older unit, which I plan to do this year, it won't be with Wilson. more

We had our a/c and furnace replaced 8 years ago by Wilson and it has been horrible. We are now facing the purchase of a new system now because of the bungling that went on when they originally set up our system.\r \r First of all, when they installed our system we asked them to replace all of our hard ductwork in the attic and crawlspace - and we paid quite a bit for this work. They claimed that a section of the crawlspace could not be reached because the foundation walls cut off this part of the house. I have been under the house numerous times since then to fix plumbing issues and that part of the house is easily accessible.\r \r Second, they installed the system in late winter and the heat worked fine, but when it started getting hot the a/c fell down hard. It was 105 outside and 85 in our house with the a/c running 24 hours a day. We called and the representative of the firm claimed that the best we could hope for was a 20-degree difference between our house and outdoors. He was unfriendly, unhelpful and just plain mean on the phone with both me and my wife.\r \r We finally threatened to sue and called Trane to tell them that their system was being given a bad name. Trane sent out a rep with a Wilson tech and they fixed some problems with the way the system was installed, and we then had air that actually worked. Soon after we switched service companies and have had some maintenance needs but not too bad. However, we are now being told we need major maintenance work done because the drip pan was set up incorrectly, the fan and filter were not installed properly, and there aren't enough return vents, all causing the system to have a shorter life than expected.\r \r When you buy something as big as a new air conditioning system, you try to pick the right system and someone you can trust. We made a big mistake with Wilson; I only wish I could have seen some of the reviews online that I see today. We would never use these people again. more

Our worst fears confirmed! 9/30/2010

We always feel like service people are out to take advantage and Wilson Air was the worst example of this I have ever seen--so dishonest and deceitful. Our air conditioner quit running in September. My husband sort of messed with the wiring, realized he made a mistake and thought we probably needed a new circuit board.\r A Wilson Air tech came and after working with the unit for a little bit, came to the kitchen and said, ""You're not going to like what I have to say."" He said we needed a whole new unit. He said if we just replaced the circuit board that the unit would never run properly. He said that the circuit board alone was $1200 and that a new unit was just $5600. He also gave us the whole tax credit routine.\r My husband was leary, so we paid the $79.95 service fee, let the tech leave and then he called his uncle in Longview who has an air condtioning company. We gave him our serial and model number and he fed exed the circuit board OVERNIGHT for $143.00! I said $143.00!! My husband replaced it with his uncle's help over the phone and it has worked great ever since.\r What a LIAR Wilson Air is! I was convinced we needed a new unit and they would have gladly installed. WE WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY!! more
